#LoveWins ~ Power Poppy

I made a card today just for the fun of it!!  And I had a blast!!  Since the Christmas season is behind us now, I decided to make a Valentine card using Power Poppy's Good Thinking: Love Notes set.

I hauled out my Minc Machine and went to work.  This baby came together rather quickly and I think it turned out fabulous.  I have to mention that I had some help though...I used today's Splitcoaststampers Sketch designed by Power Poppy's very own, Ally.  You can find the sketch HERE.

Both sentiments were foiled using the Minc Machine, and I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the black panel.  I love the sweet little Photo Frame die from Jillian Vance Designs.

That's it.  The sketch was an easy layout, which I thought was perfect for a masculine card.

Thanks for dropping by!!  I hope you are having a fabulous week!

  Happy Stamping!

Sunshine and Sweet Simple Things ~ Power Poppy

http://powerpoppy.com/products/sunshine-of-my-life
Hello, hello, HELLO!!!  This is quite the inspiration filled Friday, let me tell ya!!  The Instant Gardeners, as well as some of Bloom Brigade members, are sharing a gorgeous new Power Poppy Digital image called Sunshine of my life!!  And it's a beauty!! I also have a second card to share with you using the Power Poppy Digital image Sweet Simple Things.  There's a lot of color flowing today.

First, for my Sunshine card, I made the image 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" with only part of the image showing with a sentiment (included with this digital set) I added using Photoshop.  If I'm honest, I wish I had moved the sentiment down and to the right a little bit, but until I diecut it, it looked great.  I didn't diecut it until after I'd finished coloring, and with the plethora of Copics that I used, I wasn't about to start over.  *grin*

I took an easy way out with this card a bit.  Jennifer Dove has fabulous "Color of the Day" tags, and since I knew I wanted to use a variety of colors on the vase and flowers, I thought I'd use her already designed combinations.  The Vase uses Split Pea Soup, Gopher, Chartreuse, Patina, then Split Pea Soup and Gopher again.  The Patina was used on the next stripe too, but it got mostly cut off.   I used Transition Red for the two bottom sunflowers and my own color combination for the other three.  I also used her Dragon combination for the leaves and stems.

CopicsBottom Sunflower Petals ~ R59, YR18, YR15, Y02 Bottom Sunflower Centers ~  E79, E57, E35, E33, E31 Top Sunflower Petals ~ Y38, Y19, Y15 Top Sunflower Centers ~ E89, E87, E84, E81, Leaves ~ YG67, YG63, YG03 Vase ~ YG95, YG93, YR23, E79, E57, E35, E33, E31, YG95, YG93, YG21, BG49, BG15, BG13, BG11

That's it for my first card.  For my second, I colored the Digital Image Sweet Simple Things.  I adore Bee Skeps and have quite a collection, so of course I had to color this baby up as soon as I had the chance.

Didn't Marcy design the most charming image?  Seriously!!  I LOVE this, and had a delightful time coloring it.  I wanted the Bee Skep to have as much dimension as I could achieve, so I colored each individual layer.  The sentiment is from one of the new Clear Stamp sets called Everything's Even Rosier.  I love how Marcy scripted the word "hello".

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/2016/07/time-to-b-happy.html
Now, this card also fits this month's creative Power and Spark Challenge designed by our dear, sweet, talented Aussie, Kathy!!  She's challenging everyone to "B" Happy and include as many "B" things on your card that you want.  On this card I have Bees, a Bee Skep, a Bench, a Banner, Burlap String, and Black dots.  I think that about covers it.  ;)

CopicsBee Skep ~ E59, E37, E34, T10, T7, T2 Bench ~ W8, W6, W4, W2 Foxglove ~ YR09, YR04, YR00, RV23 Daisies ~ BV31, Y18, Y08 Leaves and Grass ~ YG99, YG17, YG13, YG11 Background ~ E43, E41, E40

That's it for me today y'all!!  I hope you've enjoyed an inspirational hop.  If you haven't seen the rest of the Power Poppy creations, here are the links to those with projects to share:

Easter Wishes and Halftone Hello~ Waltzingmouse

I think I may need a "gold intervention".  Each time I'm trying to come up with an idea for a card, I find myself gravitating to the gold. This is so unlike me. I've been a "silver" girl for over a decade and used to find it super hard to work with gold. It's crazy. I promise tomorrow's project doesn't have any though. Just the two I have to share today.

Today we're featuring the Easter die along with the Halftone Backgrounds set.

For my first card, I wanted the word "Easter" to be prominent, so I diecut it out of Vintage Cream cardstock (PTI), kept the little insert pieces, and diecut it out again using Fancy That dp by My Mind's Eye and inserted it into the Vintage cream piece.  I also did the same for the background using the new Pretty Circle die.  I diecut it twice using Fancy That dp and Gold Mirrored cardstock, and just used the little gold scalloped piece to insert inside the circle.  It's popped up with dimensional tape too.  The little "wishes" sentiment is from the set Say it Loud, and was stamped onto a Waltzingmouse diecut piece using the Pretty Panel #1 die.

I wanted to give my second card a modern grunge look, so I stamped the faded circle image (from the Halftone Backgrounds set) with Golden Glitz Delicata and embossed it with Gold Embossing Powder (Ranger).  I swiped the ink pad over the cardstock and over the embossed dotted background to give it a more distressed look.  Lastly, I added the "hello" diecut along with a tassel that I made out of embroidery string and a little gold Enamel Dot (MME).

That's it for me today.  Tomorrow I have one more project to share and I went back to my "vintage" style, so be sure to drop by again.

If you haven't already, stop by these gals' blogs for some more inspiration:

Special Lady ~ Waltzingmouse

Are you ready for some Waltzingmouse Stamps goodness?  Well, you can get the newest release RIGHT NOW during our Stamp sets and die previews.  Claire is doing it a little different this time around.  So, for the next 4 days, we'll be featuring stamp sets along with their coordinating dies and you can purchase them at your hearts desire.  No waiting!!  How cool is that!

Today we're featuring a stamp set called Special Lady, along with 3 individual dies: Hello, Pretty Circle and Mother.

For my first card, I used the doily image (from the Special Lady stamp set) for the background (stamped with White pigment ink), and diecut the word "Mother" with some gold mirrored cardstock.  I added a few rhinestones, along with some Diamond Stickles to the flower, and a doily in the back.  Simple, yet elegant.

For my second card, I diecut the word "hello" along with the scalloped Pretty circle gold base, and fun little trim circle.  They too are diecut from the gold mirrored cardstock.  I just used it as a frame and added some gold string and twine along with some enamel dots to finish it off.

For my tag, I tried a new technique I found on the Tim Holtz Blog.  I stamped the Special Lady onto white cardstock with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and added Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls to the image while the ink was still wet.  I then heated it with a Heat Tool, and it gives it this awesome sheen.  I did the same with the doily image in the background only I stamped it with Silvery Shimmer Delicata and added Pewter Perfect Pearls to it.  For the tag background, I used some stencils along with a variety of Distress inks.  I also outlined the sentiment with a black Spica pen.

If you click on the images, you can see the sparkle a bit better.  It's pretty subtle and needs to be looked at, at just the right angle.

Potted Primrose ~ Power Poppy

 http://powerpoppy.com/products/potted-primroses-stamp-set
Hello creative friends!!  I'm back today with another project featuring a stamp set by Power Poppy called Potted Primrose.  When my kids were little and I didn't spend as much time in my studio, I had two large planter boxes (built by my dear hubby) along the side of our front entry.  And each year I would adorn those boxes with a variety of primroses.  They have to be one of my favorites.  Okay, I say that way too often about too many flowers.  I guess I'd have to say they are one of my favorites for their season.  I love their vibrant colors!

I thought it would be fun to color them a periwinkle type of hue or blue-violet.  (Everyone has their different ways of looking at colors.)  Anyway, they're colored with Copics, cut out and mounted with dimensional tape onto this beautiful Miss Caroline dp by My Mind's Eye.

I added a sentiment to the corner and traced over it with a silver Wink of Stella (Zig) pen to give it a little extra sparkle.  There's some glitter in the flower centers too that I added using a Quickie Glue Pen and some Hero Arts Prisma Glitter.

I have to tell you really quickly about a fabulous new tool I actually got to try at CHA a few weeks ago.  It seems really simple, but my goodness...it's a huge time saver for me.  It's called Crystal Katana and it's by Crystal Ninja.  It is incredible!!  It has a wax tip on one end, and a fine metal tip on the other.  The wax tip picks up and releases beautifully; every single time.  And the fine metal tip really helps with moving the pearls or crystals to their desired locations, along with pressing the gems firmly into the glue.   I've tried other "tipped" tools, but never liked them, and would resort to fighting with my tweezers instead.  So this tool is a must have for me!!!  Okay, back to my Power Poppy post...

That sums up my project for today, for more incredible inspiration, check out what these Bloom Brigaders have to share:
Copics:  BV04, BV34, BV31, G28, G46, G24, YG23, YG21

Tomorrow all these Power Poppy sets will be available to purchase!!  Woo-Hoo!!!!

Power Poppy Peeps!

Is it Friday already?  Woo-Hoo!!  I am so ready for the weekend!!  This week has been crazy!
And, being that it's Friday, it's time for another Power Poppy Peeps Challenge.  All you have to do is make a card or project using Power Poppy images, link it up HERE, and you have an opportunity to be featured on the Power Poppy Blog, and you'll be entered into a drawing to win some beautiful Power Poppy stamps!

I don't know if there are yellow Geraniums or not, but I was inspired by the colors in this charming My Mind's Eye designer paper.  I just LOVE this sweet little potted Geranium with the little can.  It's from the Geraniums Take Two stamp set, and it's just absolutely charming.  I colored the blooms with Copics, and added a sweet little tag.  Easy as that.

Now for some more inspiration, check out what these Bloom Brigade gals have to share:

Here's a list of the Copics I used:  Y35, Y06, G28, G24, G21, YG11, BG15, BG13, BG11, BG72, T5, T3, T2, T0

Thanks for dropping by my friends!
I hope you have a fantastic weekend, I know I'm looking forward to it!

Sending Sunshine

Wow!!  Do you feel like this Summer is flying by?  We're already half way through July!!  Crazy!
Well, since it's Friday, I have a Power Poppy inspiration to share with you.

I have a dear, dear friend who is going a round with cancer for the 3rd time and my heart is just breaking for her and her family.  They live 2000 miles away, so there is little I can do to help.  So, I thought I'd send her a "Box of Sunshine".  You may have seen this idea floating around Pinterest.  I have a variety of yellow gifts I'm going to send her, so of course I had to make a card with a yellow theme to send with them.

Marcy's Peonies, from the Dynamic Duos: Peonies and Tulips set, are just so lovely and soothing to me.  So I decided I wanted them to be my focal point.   I stamped them with Versamark onto Water color paper, embossed them with White ep, and colored them with Distress Markers.  There are beautiful sentiments included in this set too.  I just couldn't fit them on the front of my card.

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/
The background dp is, appropriately called "On the Sunny Side".  I also added some Corrugated Tape and some Seam Binding that I tied using the Bow-it-All.

Now, for more details on how you can be the Power Poppy Peep of the week, click HERE, or on the graphic.

Now, a quick description of my card.  I decided to stamp the Lavender sprigs onto vellum and color them with Copics.  Now, they don't blend well on vellum, and you have to heat set the ink (Tuxedo Black, Memento) before coloring.  So be conservative with the coloring.   You also have to use much darker colors in order for them to show on the vellum.  I like the soft overall look though.  I stamped the sentiment "Thanks Bunches", with Smokey Gray Versafine ink, directly onto the decorative paper.

Copics:  BV13, BV08, G96, G85

Need a little inspiration to get those creative juices flowing? Be sure to stop on by and see what these lovely ladies on our Bloom Brigade created this week!

Doesn't this sound like fun!!!  I hope you'll join in!  We'd love to see what you do with these gorgeous images!!

Waltzingmouse March Release Previews ~ Day 1

Welcome to the first day of the Waltzingmouse March Blog Hop!  I'm so excited to share these new sets with you!  Today we're featuring a charming set called A Good Egg.  And Claire has designed the images so that they can be used for Easter and year round.  I made my first card an Easter one by using the Rocking and Rolling technique with two inks for the sunburst styled egg and framed it using Claire's Opera Tag images and die.  Of course I had to include a chocolate bunny.

I went a little silly for my second card.  I was making bacon and eggs for my husband and remembered one of the sentiments for this set:  "Keep your sunnyside up", and thought why not make and egg?  I just free-handed the egg white and punched out a yellow piece of cardstock and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I know pretty corny...but I just couldn't resist.

That's it for me today.  Your last stop is Claire's blog.
Here's the hop list in case you might have missed a stop along the way.

Thank you so much for dropping by.  I hope you've been enjoying hopping along.  Be sure to stop by tomorrow for some more peeks and inspiration!
Happy Stamping!
