Merry Christmas!! ~ Power Poppy

Merry, Merry Christmas creative friends!!  This can be a hectic time of year, especially for those of us with a creative gene, because we feel we need everything to be extra special since that is one of our gifts.  It's no different with the cards I make.  I'm always trying my best with my coloring or design.  That doesn't mean they always turn out to my standards, but the striving is there.

Designing for Power Poppy is a tremendous blessing to me.  Marcella is a gem!!! Which is obvious from any post of hers that you read.  She encourages, supports, delights, and just spreads joy wherever she is.  And let me tell you, the entire design team is just as special!  Each one blessed with their own unique personality and style.

I have so many treasured memories of this year (like our DT gathering in Missouri this summer...minus our dear, dear Kathy), along with my personal memories, but I'm here today to share a few of my favorite Christmas cards.  I have two from this year, and two from last year to share.

I don't know what it is about this Winter Wonderland card (could be the bright blue...turquoise is my favorite color), but in spite of the cool colors, it feels warm to me.  And the Double Gatefold was fun and quite the challenge.  I also just adore this image!  It is a delight to color and is so versatile!

Here is a look at it opened up.

My second favorite this year is quite the opposite of my first.  It is very clean and simple!  I just loved the sweet little stocking image from the Snow Kissed set.

Next up is a card I made last year using Holly Golightly!  I have to admit, that holly sprig gets used A LOT!!!  It is definitely one of my "go-to's".  I also just adore the sweet little tag!

Lastly, is this A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E snow globe from one of last years sets called Snowglobe Greeting.

There's a lot of dimension to this card!  The backgrounds are embossed, and the snowglobe base is burnished and popped up in the center to give a curved feel.  I also added some liquid applique to the snow, and some acetate to the front, as well as some layers to the image.  Told you there was a lot of dimension.  ;)

Sorry if I got carried away a bit with 4 cards!  But Marcy's images are just so incredible!  I can hardly help myself!!

If you haven't already, be sure to stop at the other Bloom Brigade Blogs!  I don't know how any of these gals are going to pick a favorite of theirs, because, in all honesty, every single one of their creations is incredible!!

Glitter House Village Gift Card Holder ~ Power Poppy

Hello my creative friends!!!  Have you seen Stacy's Gift Card Holder Tutorial on Day 2 of our Power Poppy 12 Days of Christmas?!?!?  If not, click HERE.  It is so cute, easy, and is the perfect way to package a sweet little gift card.  She inspired me to make mine, but I wanted to make a different shape.  So instead of creating folds, I diecut an extra piece to make the pocket on the inside.  I used Spellbinders' Labels 11 Grand dies for the of this gift card holder.  I wanted to go a bit more graphic, so I used the rays of light from Power Poppy's Glitter House Village set.  I stamped them with Versamark while the cardstock was still in the die, and embossed them with Silver Embossing Powder.  I then added some Silver Moondust Crystal Drops (Nuvo) to fill in the spaces.  The sentiment was stamped with Onyx Black Versafine using my Misti for perfect placement.

For the inside, I diecut another piece using the Grand 11 die diecut an oval, and then embossed it.  I then took some silver cardtock and diecut it also with the Grand Labels 11 die, laid the white diecut piece over it, lined up my oval so I could have a matted edge, and diecut it too.  Lastly, I added a tag on the inside with a sentiment from one of last years Christmas sets called Simple Joys.  It fit perfectly in the Style Nouille Tag frame (Spellbinders).

We'd love to see what you come up with after being inspired by a project from our Power Poppy 12 Days of Christmas.  Just link your project HERE, and you will be entered to win a $50 Power Poppy Shopping Spree.  Easy Peasy, and the prize is fantastic!!

Thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to check out what creative idea Cindy has in store for you on the Power Poppy Blog.  And then, check out Julie and Stacy's blogs for some more Holiday inspiration!

Holly Dream Wedding ~ Power Poppy

Hello creative friends!!  I have a rather unusual Power Poppy card to share with you today.  One of my nephews is getting married a couple of days after Christmas and their colors are going to be Blue/Silver.  I thought, why not combine a Christmas image with a bridal image for the card I want to make for the bride-to-be's shower.  So, I started by diecutting a frame and, using my Misti, arranging the holly from the Power Poppy Holly Golightly set, along with the sentiment from the Dream Wedding set.  I embossed the holly with Bridal Tinsel (isn't that just the perfect name for a Christmas wedding card?) embossing powder (Ranger), and just added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the Black Onyx Versafine stamped sentiment.  Everyone knows you need lots of sparkle for a wedding card right?

I colored the shoes with Copics and again, using my Quickie Glue Pen, added some more Dazzling Diamonds glitter (SU!) to the outsides of them for a little more festive look.  Below is a close up so you can see the sparkle and tinsel in all its glory.  ;)

Copics:   B97, B95, B93, N6, N4, N2, N0, BG93, BG90

Winter Wonderland Portion Control ~ Power Poppy

Happy Friday!!  Shoot...Happy November!!  This is my favorite month because this is when we get our Fall colors in Central California, and when the weather finally starts to get cooler!!  The 60's are projected for this whole next week, with a few showers thrown in the mix.  That is HUGE!!  We need rain so badly!

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/
So, since it's a new month, that means it's time for a new Power Poppy Power and Spark challenge and the super talented Cindy has come up with a fun one.  We are to practice portion control.  That means, use only portions of an image on your project.  We'd love to have you join us too.  You could win a $50 shopping spree if you do!!  Now, how can you pass up that opportunity!!

I decided it would be fun to make a Double Gatefold card with a belly band.  I haven't done that in many years!!!  If you'd like a tutorial, a good one can be found HERE on Splitcoaststampers.  I used the new Winter Wonderland image that I diecut using Gold Labels Four (Spellbinders).  I cut it in half, and added it to the front of my double fold along with a belly band to hold it closed.

The sentiment on the inside is from the new Flowering Santa set.  I love mixing and matching sets.  It gives you so many more options.

Here's a close up of the closed card and it's belly band.  The sentiment is from the new Glitter House Village set.  If you haven't seen the new Happiest Holiday 2017 collection yet, be sure to visit the Power Poppy store and check it out.  These sets are all quite incredible!!

Happiest Holiday 2017 Release Hop ~ Power Poppy

https://powerpoppy.com/It's finally here!!!!  Power Poppy Release Day has arrived at last!!!  And what a week of previews it has been!!  I hope you've enjoyed all the sneak peeks and are eager to get to the Power Poppy Store and start your shopping.  First, a few more projects to inspire!!!  The Bloom Brigade are all sharing one more design to show you how beautiful and versatile these new Happiest Holiday 2017 sets are!!!

Today, I'm sharing a card focusing on the gorgeous floral spray from the Winter Wonderland set, and a sentiment from the Glitter House Village set.  I think they go together beautifully, showcasing how versatile Marcella's sets are.

I wanted to create a different background to make the image pop, so I diecut the Stitched Fishtail (Elizabeth Craft Designs), left the X-Press It cardstock inside, stamped the image over the die, and made a mark every 1/4" on the top and bottom (With the .03 Copic Liner) and connected the dots.  I then colored every other stripe with Copic Marker 110.  The hard part was figuring out where to color behind the image.  Then, I just colored the image, added the sentiment and a few sequins.  I liked the shape as it was, so I just cut a back to match.

Happiest Holiday Release Previews ~ Glitter House Village

Hello friends!!!  I hope you've been enjoying a really nice weekend.  We received some much needed rain yesterday, and it helped clear up some of the smoke in the air from all the CA fires.  I am so very thankful!!  Coloring this charming little village scene with the church centralized really helped me reflect on all that I am grateful for.

http://powerpoppy.com/collections/happiest-holiday-collection/products/glitter-house-village
I'm in a vintage mood right now I think because I can't help going all soft and pinky with all my coloring lately.  So here you have it again today.  Power Poppy is featuring this sweet little Glitter House Village and it has a bunch of sweet background and filler images.  LOVE them!!  Today, the village is colored with copics and I added a sprinkling of glitter to all the snow and ornaments.  The diecut background is also glittery, but it's hard to see in this photo.

CopicsHouse 1 ~ R85, R83, R81, C02, C0, C00, Y15 House 2 ~ R22, R21, R20, RV02, C02, C0, C00, Y15 Church ~ C02, C0, C00, Y15, E53 Wreaths and Trees ~ G21, G20, E53, E51

Happiest Holiday Release Previews ~ Flowering Santa

http://powerpoppy.com/collections/happiest-holiday-collection/products/flowering-santa
It's day 4 of the Power Poppy Happiest Holiday 2017 previews!!  I hope you have been enjoying a small peek into all the new sets.  What's really cool, is we're only half way!!!  And today, we're sharing, what I think is the sweetest and most charming Santa EVER!!!  I mean, who thinks of putting flowers and leaves in a Santa's beard?  Marcella of course!!  She is so creative and clever and I LOVE how she thinks out of the box!!

I chose to use soft colors for this Flowering Santa; soft blues, violets, pinks, yellows and grays
And don't you just love his laugh lines?!?!?!  He just oozes "jolliness".

I cut him out and burnished the entire image, popping up the flowers and his mustache.  You can see the dimension a bit more below.

He's popped up over a stitched diecut frame, and I added some Glass Effect Gel (Viva Decor) along with some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the snowflakes (in the background) and the flowers and Holly leaves.

I did some ink isolation with the sentiment to break it up and make it horizontal instead of vertical.  For a tutorial on how to do that easy-peasy, click HERE.

Copics ~ B01, B00, BV31, YG11, YG000, C2, C0, R20, E11, E00, E000

That about sums up today's project.  If you haven't already, you'll want to check out what the rest of the gals have done with this charming fellow:

Happiest Holiday Release Previews ~ Rustic Rejoicing

Howdy friends!!  Welcome to day 2 of our Power Poppy Happiest Holiday Release Previews!!  Now that was a "mouthful".  ;)  I would like to start by saying...Minc'd images are BUGGERS to photograph!!!  Seriously!!  So, if you could, please use your imagination a bit when looking at the photos...

http://powerpoppy.com/collections/happiest-holiday-collection/products/rustic-rejoicing
Today the Power Poppy Bloom Brigade is featuring the new set Rustic Rejoicing.  I have quite a pinecone collection.  Some really, REALLY large ones in fact.  I display them in a rather ginormous antique bowl that I leave out year round.  I just can't bear to put them away.  So, when I saw this image, I was delighted to say the least.
I decided to try something new to me.  I have a Minc Machine that I've used often with Marcella's images, but I had never colored the image before Minc'ing it.  I never dreamed Copics would work with Toner ink.  But after seeing Power Poppy Instant Gardener Elizabeth Zaffarano's Instagram post (saffronkingfisher) on coloring an image and Minc'ing over it, I knew I had to try it. She showed it off so beautifully!!!

Showing the depth of color without the shine was quite a challenge, so I will try and post a little video on Instagram today so it's easier to see. ( tosh.l )

The image was colored with Copics, and Minc'd with Champagne Foil.

That's it for me today, y'all.  I hope you've been enjoying all the previews so far.  There is so much more to see, and it's so exciting!!
