I made this card for a dear friend of mine: Charlene (LilLuvsStampin) on SCS. She's having surgery on her hand tomorrow and will not be able to stamp for 6 weeks! Oh, the horror!! Well, to cheer her up, a member of our CCEE group thought it would be a great idea to send her get well cards. Click HERE to see what the other girls made for her.
Why a polar bear's butt you ask? Well, early on, when CCEE was just beginning, we all were given nicknames for various reasons. Long story short, Charlene ended up with Bert. She also claims she has a big butt do to all the M&M's she eats while stamping and commenting on people's cards. Well, we have it on good authority, that that's not the case, but she will always be *Big Butt Bertie* to us. Thus the cards with either M&M's or Big Butts.
For this card, I stamped this Polar Rearview (Third Coast Rubber Stamps) with Tuxedo Black (Memento) on Iced Teal (Prismatic) cardstock. I then took a Q-tip and colored randomly over the bear with my White Craft Ink (Stampin' Up), and then embossed it with Clear Detail Embossing Powder by JudiKins. Of course, when you emboss, you get a shiny look and I didn't want that. So I rubbed my sanding block over it gently!! Woila...texture without the shine!! Click on the photo for a larger view.
I then cut some snow pieces with Frosted Teal (Prismatic) CS and sponged some more White Craft ink over the edges. The Polar bear is cut out and mounted on a Nestabilities circle of Iced Teal. The Nautical Blue bg is pierced with an ornare piercing template in order to make it look a bit like snow flurries.
The sentiment is computer generated and punched out with the large tag punch by SU.
I finally dressed it all up a bit with of Crystal Stickles, and some winter brads (Around the Block)
