Stamper's Dream Dreamy Challenge

Stamper's Dream is having another Dreamy Challenge!! This time it's a color and product challenge. We'd love to have you participate too. All you have to do is make a card with similar colors, and use texture and bling, and post a comment on the Stamper's Dream Blog with a link to your card. If you're uploading to Splitcoaststampers, please use the keyword SDDC7. Michelle has some blog candy available too!!

The colors we were to use were Blush Red, Island Mist Medium, and Birchtone Light by Prismatics. (Compatible SU colors are Riding Hood Red, Baha Breeze and Sahara Sand) Prismatic papers are my go to for paper. I'm a fan for three reasons. 1. They have a textured side 2. They have a smooth side 3. They ink distress beautifully!! Love them!! The other products we're focusing on are Spellbinders' Impressabilities, and Zva Creations' Mini Multicolored Rhinestones.

First off, I stamped the Baby Hammock (Penny Black) image with Tuxedo Black (Memento) onto Neenah Natural White cardstock and colored it with copics. The daisies are paper toled as are the butterfly and bows. I stamped the Tiny Words and Centers (JustRite) sentiment onto Neenah Natural White also and added a bit of bling with Mini Multicolored Rhinestones (Zva Creations).

I left the Labels I tag blank so I can add the baby's name later.

I embossed the background with one of the Spellbinders Impressabilities. I just ran it through my cuttlebug and ink distressed it with Old Paper Ranger Distress Ink.

I tell ya, sometimes life gets in the way of stamping. I started this card this morning, and things just kept popping up all day. I finished it this afternoon, and am now just getting it posted. Whew!!! Anyway, I made this card using SCS's Sketch for today. You can find it HERE. I turned the sketch on its side.

One of my all time favorite paper companies is My Mind's Eye. And their Penny Lane line has a variety of fun colors, and fabulous texture!!! The designs you see on my card are the reverse palettes of the paper not shown in the store link. I loved the subtle stripes of my base paired with the Violets by Flourishes. The image is colored with copics, and has a hint of Ultrafine Glitter to make the blooms and leaves pop. They are also all paper toled. All the edges are ink distressed with Old Paper (Ranger Distress Ink)

Tri-Shutter Card

I don't normally attempt too many new techniques. Mainly because I hate making mistakes and having to start over. But Lynn provided one on SCS today that didn't scare me too much. It's called a "Tri-Shutter Card". All it involved was some scoring and a bit of cutting. I can do that. *grin* To check out SCS's Technique Challenge today, click HERE.

All the images stamped onto the Dancing Jewel Kaisercraft dp, are by Verve. I'll list the links in the supply list below.

The decorative brad was made with Chatterbox's Easy Brad Maker Kit. All I did was punch a circle out of the dp with the punch provided and added the epoxy circle....also provided. Way easy and elegant. I made the tiny bow with a Bow Easy tool. Sharon sells them HERE, and and Jerri provides a very easy tutorial HERE.

Here's the card closed. It will fit into a standard A2 envelope.

Paper challenged

This week for our CCEE challenge, Deb wanted us to haul out some designer paper that we've been hoarding. well, this scroll-cut dp has been gracing my shelves for quite some time. So when I saw that Joan Ervin over on SCS was being featured today, and saw THIS CARD, I knew just what I wanted to do. I LOVED the technique and colors she used, so I used the same ink colors. She rubbed the Ranger Distress Inks Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain onto a craft sheet, spritzed it with water and drug the cardstock through the watery ink. Woila...the background. I then stamped the branch with Walnut Stain, and the bird and flowers with Versamark. The bird was embossed with Black ep, and the flowers with White ep., and the edges were all ink distressed with Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain.

Patriotic Shadow Box

While shopping with my daughter yesterday, I saw some shadowbox type frames and was inspired to make one with Our Daily Bread Designs' Patriotic images. The box is 1/4" deep with the middle striped layer 1/8" above the In God We Trust Image and the God Bless America sentiment. The eagle was stamped with Vintage Sepia (Versafine), and the sentiment was stamped with Tuxedo Black (Memento).

The Patriotic Moxie dp was bright red and white stripes, and since I prefered a vintage look, I distressed it by rubbing Old Paper and Tea Dye (Ranger Distress Inks) directly on the paper to age it a bit. As you can see, I made the window with a layer of acetate. I have the hardest time photographing that stuff. *grin*. The corners were made with a Martha Stewart border punch, and I blinged it up a bit with Black Rhinestones (Kaisercraft) and Star Brads (Stampin' Up!). I also trimmed the edge of my box with Night of Navy grosgrain ribbon (SU). That's it.

Patriotic with Porcelain

For the month of May, Judy, challenged the Our Daily Bread Design team with a sketch and a product focus. The product I was challenged to use was Basicgrey's Porcelain Paper and the coordinating buttons. Not your typical patriotic colors, but I like how it turned out. The sentiment is from the In God We Trust set.

Sweet Peas

I LOVE flowers. Real life and stamps!! When I saw this Sweet Peas image by Flourish, I was in love. Michelle kept selling out of them at Stamper's Dream, though, so I never got a chance to use it until now. If you like this image you might want to get it very soon though, because they sell quickly. She'll also have the new Flourishes releases available on Friday. So stop by the store!!

The Sweet Peas were stamped with Tuxedo Black (Memento) onto Neenah Natural White and were colored with copics. I stamped the Sweet Pea sentiment with Smokey Gray (Versafine), and ink distressed all the edges with Old Paper (Ranger Distress Ink).

Elegance with Anna Griffin

I couldn't wait to make this card. I LOVE Anna Griffin images, and Anita has a fabulous kit of borders in her Anna Griffin Elegant Borders Clear Stamp Kit. It includes 21 of Anna's Favorite borders, and they are GORGEOUS!! It was tough to choose only two, but this is what I came up.

If you click on the photo you can see the details better.

I stamped the borders onto Birchtone Light (Prismatics) with Perfect Plum (Stampin' UP!), and glitzed it up a bit with Ultrafine Transparent Glitter (JudiKins), and Multi-colored Mini Rhinestones (ZVA Creations).

The main flower was made with the Stampin' UP! diecut Flower Daisies #2. I diecut them them, spritzed them with water and rolled them onto a stylus. They maintain their shape when they dry.

One of my favorite challenges that I participate in, is when our CCEE group picks a unique user name to feature from Splitcoaststampers. This week Deb picked IMAMUTTNUT (Laurie). Our requirements were to make a card with a dog on it. So I chose to use this sweet Our Craft Lounge troublemaker Pat The Bad Dog, and Pat the Dawg House. I hand drew the fence and colored it all with copics.

The sketch is from the SFYTT sketch, except I moved my sentiment medallion to the right.

In God I Trust!

When I saw this sentiment in Kelley's new set "In God We Trust", from Our Daily Bread Designs, I knew I wanted to make a card that focused strictly on that statement.

I saw a pillow a couple of days ago with this type of color blocking, so I thought I'd make this Clean and Simple. I punched the stars out of each colored panel, embossed them with the Distressed Stripes Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), and mounted the top panel on top of each of the other colors with dimensional tape. I then added a strip of the sentiment to divide each color and a Multicolored Mini-Rhinestone between the statements. There are Black Candy Dots in the corners also.

It doesn't get much simpler than that. *grin*

You Inspire Me...

This is a project that is near and dear to my heart. While I was at CHA with Michelle (Stamper's Dream) and Laurie (Just give me stamps), we saw such fun chipboard books in the Maya Road booth. When I saw this one, I just knew what I would do with it, and Michelle was kind enough to indulge my inspiration and order some of these.

Many of you know that Laurie and I are good friends that actually met through Splitcoaststampers almost 2 years ago. We had an immediate connection and have been close ever since. We've been through a lot these past 2 years with both ups and downs, and through it all she has inspired me in many ways with her strength, hope, faith, and much more. So, I thought I'd make this book highlighting what I admire so much in her and how she inspires me daily.

All the decorative paper used for this book is from the K&Company Line Madeline, and any other paper used is Prismatic. The inks used are either Vintage Photo or Walnut Stain (Ranger Distress), or Vintage Sepia (Versafine)

To make the flower, I just rubbed Worn Lipstick and Aged Mahogany (Ranger Distress Ink) directly onto the Grungepaper and ink distressed the edges with Vintage Photo (Ranger Distress Ink). For the leaves I rubbed Frayed Burlap and Pine Needles (Ranger Distress Ink) and then hand cut them.

The frame is like an emboss resist, only you don't have to do the embossing. The intricate patterns are already done for you. All I did was rub Frayed Burlap over the whole image, the Vintage Photo around the outer pattern (avoiding the center), and finally edging it with Walnut Stain (Ranger Distress Inks).

For the ornate brad, I just took one of the brads for the Build-a-Brad Kit (Chatterbox), and filled the center with a large Rhinestone (K&Company)

Framed Pledge

When I saw these wonderful patriotic images by Our Daily Bread Designs, I knew I wanted the Pledge of Allegiance stamped over the flag. I tried it out different ways, and finally settled on stamping the Pledge on vellum and framing it over a watercolored flag.

Express yourself with JustRite

Kids today are expressing themselves with text messages on cell phones, wallpaper and flares on Facebook, and even tattoos. So I thought it would be fun to make these *old fashioned* looking letter blocks for my daughter to put on her desk to display her mood for that moment. The words that are missing are *unhappy*, and *exhausted*. She loved them and wanted to put them on her desk right away. She should know better than that...they had to be photographed first, of course!!! Duh!! *grin* Kellie Fortin (from JustRite) came up with a clever name for this set of blocks. She calls them the *moodometer*. I like it. *grin*

Now you may wonder about the color and paper choice for a girl. My daughter loves jewelry, even wears make-up on most days, but she hates flowers and pink. She also loves sweatshirts, t-shirts and hats. Not your typical teenage girl I guess. She even hates talking on the phone. I should probably count my blessings on that one...LOL

Anyway...back to the blocks. First I gave the blocks a primer coat of ivory acrylic paint. While they were drying, I stamped the 90 pt Brayton Font letters (JR) with my 1/2" Vertical Stamper (JR) ( I was able to put a different letter on each end...very handy) onto Neenah Natural White, cut them out with the Octagon Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and matted them with the Labels III Nestabilities shape (Spellbinders). The 1" blocks were then covered with the Cosmo Cricket Line "Lil' Man" using Mod Podge, and were ink distressed with Vintage photo (Ranger Distress Ink) to give it that aged look. I then added another coat of Mod Podge. That's it. It's a very simple project, although a bit time consuming with all the steps.

Encouragement with JustRite

A dear friend of mine is having a very rough time right now with her health. So I decided to make some encouraging magnets for her to put on her refrigerator. Not only will they remind her that God is there for her, but also that I'm praying for her.

JustRite has some wonderful new products. I LOVE this new Tiny Words and Centers set. It has quite a variety of sentiments. I just stamped the *Have Faith* sentiment on my favorite dp Bella Bella (My Mind's Eye), and framed it with the Blossom Nestabilities Shape (Spellbinders). I then layered that onto the Labels IV Nestabilities (Spellbinders), added some ivory satin ribbon (SU), some pearls (Kaisercraft), and a Mini Multicolored Rhinestone (ZVA) to the little square on the front.

Here are the magnets I included inside. If you'd like a closer view, just click on the photo.
Each magnet was cut with the Labels IV Nestabilities shape (Spellbinders), and was coated with Detail Clear ep (JudiKins). Two also have Mini Multicolored Rhinestones added. Here's a close up of one of the magnets. The stamped rose in the background is from the Basicgrey stamp set Porcelain Avery. The verses are all computer generated.

When I ran the magnet through the cuttlebug with the Labels IV diecut (Spellbinders), it didn't cut completely through. But it was easy to follow with a scissors.

Now for my second JustRite project for today. It's quite simple actually. Very easy to make.

The template is shown below. The Image is from one of the new JustRite sets called Girl Time Borders and Centers. I thought this *Shopping* sentiment was perfect for a gift card holder, and I wanted to make it a different shape other than a circle. So I used the Octagon Nestabilities shape instead. The pink paper, Artsy-licious, by Chatterbox has flocked swirls. Love the texture!! I stamped the image with Tuxedo Black (Memento) onto Simply Smooth cs (Prism), and colored the top of the shoes with my stardust Gellyroll pen (Sakura). I framed the sentiment with Mini Multicolored Rhinestones (Zva)...LOVE these little guys!! Michelle just started carrying them in her Stamper's Dream store, and they are so inexpensive!! 400 gems for $2.49. It doesn't get much better that!! *grin*

Now, my corners were made with the Provencial decorative scissors (Fiskars), and the corner Black Rhinestones are by Kaisercraft. I believe the ribbon is May Arts. I just had it in my stash.

Happy Mother's Day

I'm a bit late posting today. It's Monday and Deb (88Keys - SCS) is in charge of the challenges this month for our CCEE group. This week we were to making a Mother's Day card. To see what the other girls have come up with, head on over the CCEE Stamper's Blog.

This card is rather large. I just took a standard sized piece of black cardstock and folded it in half. The images were stamped with Brilliance Graphite Black and embossed with Clear Detailed ep (JudiKins). The Rhinestones are Kaisercraft, and Multicolored Mini Rhinestones (Zva)

This week is also JustRite Week over at Stamper's Dream. Members of the Design Team will be posting each day this week with May's new JustRite images.
