Whimsical Verve

Hello my friends.  I went a bit whimsical today.  I just felt Amber's Viva la Verve sketch had that whimsy feel to it and I somehow saw a tree in it so this is where my creativity took me.  I used 3 Verve stamp sets and 1 Verve die:  Doodled Occasions (the itty bitty flower), Borderline (Frame and sentiment), With Love (Bird), and Mini Bookplate die (A Cut Above Frame).

I love how Julee makes her sets so versatile that you can use images from a variety of sets.  If gives a crafter limitless combinations!!

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you have a super fantastic weekend.  I'm spending the day with a few of my favorite paper crafters.  I feel so blessed!!

Happy Stamping ya'll!!

If you've arrived here from the sweet and talented Silke's blog, you're on the right track.  If not, you'll want to start at the beginning!  Click HERE.

I decided to use the set Save Time from the Blessing Collection.  I had fun with ink and masking for this project!  I started by ripping a piece from the center of copy paper.  I wanted it just large enough to fit the sentiment.  I then place the ripped piece down and inked Tumbled Glass Ranger distress ink around it.  I then took the negative piece and inked Vingtage Photo (Ranger Distress) inside.  I placed the torn piece down again and inked some Vintage Photo around it and along the edges of the tag.

After that, I laid a gold mesh (The Funkie Junkie) down and sponged some Vintage Cream Ink (PTI) over it.  I added some vintage cream splotches for added interest also.  Lastly, I punched a border along some copy paper using an EK Success punch, layed that along the edge of my tag and added some Black Soot (Ranger Distress Ink).

That's it as far as the inking and masking go.  I added some fun embellishments, wrinkled ribbon and fibers to finish the tag off.  I hope you've been inspired.

Now for some more fabulous inspiration, head on over to the beautiful and creative Betty's blog.

Thanks for visiting!!
Happy Stamping!!

The Waltzingmouse Mischief Makers are at it again.  They have a fantastic sketch for you to work with.  This is my take on the sketch.  I actually turned it on its side so the panel would work with the images from the Secret Stamp Set.

Have you ever created a background that you just don't want to cover up cause you think it's so cool?  Well that's the case with this card.  I love the images in the Secret Stamp Set and thought they would combine beautifully with images from Very Vintage Christmas and Faux Fun.  The workshop panel is actually 5 layers deep.  Loved piecing that image!!  I might just have to make another card with the same background and not cover it up so much.  Hmmmmm....

That's it for today's card.  It's pretty straight forward.  I'll have all the supplies listed below.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you have a fantastic weekend!
Happy stamping!!

Viva la Verve

Have you seen Janelle's sketch over at the Verve Forum yet?  It's super fun and inspirational!!  I thought one of the sentiments from the Stronger Love (Verve) set would work beautifully with this set, and I love the bird from the With Love set.  Doesn't he look sweet perched on the arrow from the Brighter Days set?

I thought some burlap leaves would be a perfect fit with this beautiful Prima flower too, and I added some gold stickles to the sun.  They kind of took over, but it just makes it extra sparkly.  :)

That's it for me today.  I have a Waltzingmouse Sketch card to share with you tomorrow, so please stop by!

Thanks for visiting!!
Happy stamping!!

Spooky....

Hello everyone!! I have a super fun card to share with you today. I am having the most fun using some new dies that I recently purchased from a company called Cottage Cutz. They are full of different pieces that are just a blast to put together and create a fun scene. I used them on this card HERE for the first time, and now I made a Spooky Halloween card combining the dies with images from one of my all time favorite stamp companies, Waltzingmouse Stamps. Claire has a fantastic array of Halloween images and I thought images from the Midnight Feast set would work perfectly with these fun diecuts. I used the witch, some bats, and the wonderfully fonted "Happy Halloween" sentiment. The background was all created using Ranger Distress Ink.

I used a Sizzix embossing folder to get the raised texture on the birdhouse. Isn't a spooky birdhouse fun?

That's it for today. Thank you so much for visiting!!
Happy Stamping!! :)

Be true to yourself...

I have a Viva la Verve Sketch card to share with you today. The sketch was designed by Charmaine, and you can find out all the details on how to participate here.

I fell in love with this layout when I saw it. I've never used Washi Tape before and thought it was the perfect design to step out and use it. Fun stuff I tell ya!! I simply adore the new Verve sets with the banners included in their fonts and decided to use a sentiment, from Brighter days, with this sketch. This set is full of wonderfully encouraging sentiments and one of my absolute favorite Verve flowers.

Yeah, I didn't totally stick to the sketch...I only used 3 strips and moved my sentiment. Hope I didn't break too many rules. :)

That's it for today. Stop by tomorrow for a fun "spooky" card. I had a blast putting it together.
Happy Stamping ya'll!!

Waltzingmouse Blog Party ~ September

Fall. My favorite Season of the year. So I LOVE making cards using a Fall theme. For today's Waltzingmouse Blog Party, we were to create a project with a Fall theme.

I wanted to make some negative space leaves using fun fall paper designs and some of the fabulous Waltzingmouse sentiments!! So I thought why not spell out "F-A-L-L" with the WMS Victorian Alphabet, and use the "Celebrate" sentiment from Say it Loud with it. Perfect!!

I just added a few embellishments, and woila...a Fall inspired card. Now if only the weather around here would cooperate. I must admit when I hear about areas that are already experiencing cooler weather, I get a bit jealous. We've been in the 100's, and it's getting a bit old. So, if any of you want to share, I won't keep ya from it. ;) But then again, when ya'll are shoveling snow and dealing with ice in a few months, the jealousy will probably be pointed toward me. So, I probably shouldn't complain too much, eh? ;)

Anyway, thanks for visiting. I hope you had a fantastic weekend!!
Happy Stamping!

Christmas Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge

Click on the photo to get a better look at all the sparkle.

Hello everyone!! I have Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge card to share with you today. Jennifer came up with a sweet sketch involving a quad of squares. I thought it would be fun to fill them with some ornaments from the 2011 Holiday Ornament set. I embossed them with Silver Embossing Powder, diecut them with the the 2011 Holiday Ornament dies (Spellbinders), and added some sparkle with my Quickie Glue Pen and Crystal Glitter. I topped them with some Holly that I diecut using the Pointsettia Spray by Cottage Cutz. Lastly, I framed them using Labels One and the new Decorative Labels One dies by Spellbinders. The bottom border was made using the Classic Petals Edgeabilities also by Spellbinders, and the top border was punched with a border punch by EK Success.

That about sums this baby up. Thanks for visiting. For some more sketch inspiration, check out what the Mischief Makers came up with using this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch, HERE.

If you've arrived here from Kathy's blog, super. You're on the right track. If not, be sure to check out the ODBD blog for the hop list.

Fall is my absolute favorite season. (Wish it would hurry up and get here...gonna be in the 100's today....*sigh*) I love the colors, the fresh, crisp air, and just the all around cozy feeling it seems to bring with it. Since Thanksgiving arrives during the Fall season, I thought the sentiment "God richly gives us everything to enjoy" 1 Timothy 6:17, from the Scriptures Series 2 set, would be a perfect testament to my Thankfulness: from the season, to my family, to my freedom to paper craft.

Before I get into the make up of this card, I have to tell you where my inspiration came from. You see, I have this dear friend, named Pat Smethers (Blooms in a Box), who makes frameable paper art! Truly, her cards should all be framed!! She lives a short drive away, and we are blessed to get together about once a month. Well, I frequently get blessed with these works of art (more than I deserve), and I'm constantly admiring the depth. I use dimensional tape on my cards at times too, but hers have just a slightly higher raise to them. I mentioned it the last time I received one of her treasures and she promptly mailed me the tape she uses. So I used a variety of dies to highlight this sentiment in her honor because this card is going to her when I get to see her in a couple of weeks. Here's the card that inspired mine. It sits in my kitchen window to remind me of my blessings!!

The decorative border, along the Labels 28 frame, is from the edges of one of the smaller rectangles in the Resplendent Rectangles die set by Spellbinders), and the leaves were all ink distressed using Ranger Distress Inks.

That's it for my project today. I'll post a list of all the dies and inks I used at the bottom of this post. Thank you so much for visiting. I'm honored!!

Next up on the hop is the sweet and oh so talented Betty!!

September Diva Dare

For my Our Daily Bread Designs card, click HERE.

Good morning friends! I'm hosting Day 5 of the Fanspiration Diva Dare over at the Verve Blog!

This month, the dare is to create something inspired by projects made by Verve fans! You can pick any little Verve project to inspire you, as long as it is not by one of our design team members (or yourself!) {grin}. To get your wheels a turnin', the Divas will be posting their Fanspiration creations using our newly released products right here each weekday for the next week and a bit :)

Oh my was it ever hard to choose a paper crafter, let alone one single card. Ya'll work magic with Julee's images and dies!! Well, while perusing the Verve Gallery in Splitcoaststampers, I ran across Colleen Dietrich's White Wedding card found HERE. I fell in love with the pure white design with such a variety of textures. And thought it would be fun to incorporate a Verve die as the focal image. So, I just turned my card on it's side and added the Flutterby die to it. I also finished the inside.

I've packed quite a bit of dies and images into this card...inside and out: Verve Stamps:Borderline (Sentiment), Lean On Me (Flower), Brighter Days (Inside Sentiment) andStronger Love (butterfly and flight path on tag) A Cut Above Dies: Tiny Sweet Scallop,Pointed Flowers, Flutterby, and Jotted Heart die

I used Core'dinations Whitewash cardstock for the entire card for texture. The Flutterby butterflies were embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder and sanded to bring the texture to the forefront.

I embossed the Lean On Me flower with White ep, added a bit of color with a Copic Marker, then diecut it using the Pointed Flowers die. I also added a little butterfly, from theStronger Love set, to the Tiny Sweet Scallop tag, but it's hard to see with the flower over it.
For the inside, I framed the sentiment, from the Brighter Days set, with the Labels 3 die by Spellbinders, and colored the "happiness" banner with a Copic. The background is embossed with Sizzix and Cuttlebug embossing folders and I added a Velum heart diecut using the Jotted Heart die.

How fun is this Dare? Don't know where to start? Head over to the Verve Fan Gallery to peruse some projects, pick one then join in the fun...here are the details...

Well, hopefully you've enjoyed this first day of ourFanspiration Diva Dare! Join us on Monday to find out who Laurie was inspired by! Read on to see how you can win some shiny new Verve! There are two ways to win...

Diva Inspiration Hop ~ September

Hello everyone!! I have a Verve Diva Inspirations card to share with you today. I actually had time to join in on their hop this month and I'm so excited!! I had fun combining 4 different stamp sets with two new dies:

A Cut Above Verve Dies: Penant Trim and Arrow

We just moved our daughter back to college last week, (2000 miles away), to begin her Sophomore year. She's a bit nervous because she decided to change her major and it's going to be quite a bit harder, so I thought I'd make a card to encourage her using one of the fabulous sentiments from Verve's Words of Wisdom set. I also used this week's Mojo Monday Sketch for inspiration.

The paper is from Authentique's Curiosity bundle. I thought the academic styled papers fit perfectly for my daughter's new adventure!!

Hope I've inspired you a bit. I'm bringing up the rear of the hop, so if you've been following the order, this is the end. If not, I've included a list below so you don't miss a "thang"!!!

Thanks for dropping by!! I love visitors!!

Happy Stamping!!

Happy Birthday Sankari!!

I have had the privilege of meeting some of the kindest, warm-hearted and talented paper crafters in the industry, and it just so happens it's the birthday of one such crafter. Sankari Wegman has such a beautiful and unique way of combining colors and textures. Every time I see one of her creations, I can not help but smile. I truly believe it's because of the heart that goes into each one. Well, since it's her birthday, I made a card for her and even included some "pearls" around the sentiment, which Sankari is known to use on occasion. ;) She normally uses liquid pearls, but I used an Ice White Pearl Pen (Viva Decor).

I also used images from one of my absolute favorite designers: Waltzingmouse. Claire has designed spectacular frames for many of the Spellbinders Labels dies which are fabulous for framing her beautifully fonted sentiments. So using the Spellbinders Labels 14 die, I combined the two sets Holiday Labels 14 and Compact Sentiments, with this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge.

If you get a chance, head on over to Sankari's blog, Sankari's Sunshine Corner, and wish her a Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday my sweet friend!!
Hugs!!
