Flourishes Timeless Tuesday

Hello fellow Flourishes fans! It's Tuesday and we're here with another fantastic Timeless Tuesday Challenge for you!

FTTC256 Purple
Timeless-Tuesday-New-LogoThis week Allison is our hostess and she is challenging you to create using the newest Pantone Color of the year... Radiant Orchid... but any shade of purple will do! According to the Pantone View, "Since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute™ has been designating a Color of the Year to express in color what is taking place in the global zeitgeist. A color that will resonate around the world, the PANTONE Color of the Year is a reflection of what people are looking for, what they feel they need that color can help to answer. Not necessarily the hot fashion color of the moment, but a color crossing all areas of design which is an expression of a mood, an attitude, on the part of the consumers." Have fun using purple in your creations this week! This week, we have asked the Design Team to join us in celebrating the colour purple.

I have a CAS card to share with you today, in which I used the Iris from one of my new favorite sets, Flowers for Jan.  I just stamped it with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, colored it with Copics, and framed it using Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock, the Crocus collection (Color Made Easy) and some Spellbinders dies.

Take a moment and leave some lavender love on each one of our designers this week!
Here are the Copics I used:  along with Y38 and Y08 (flowers) and YG21 (Leaves)

In honor of my dear friend Charlene (Bert)

A short while ago, Heaven got another angel, and we lost one here on earth.  Charlene truly was an angel with the purest of hearts, and she will be sorely missed.  Today is her birthday, and the CCEE group (members and alumni) is honoring her and her friendship with what we do best...Cards

In Jan. of 2006, I joined Splitcoaststampers online stamping community and was a "lurker".  After finally gaining enough courage, I uploaded my first project the beginning of 2007, and Charlene was one of the first to comment and encourage my continued participation, in the challenges, as well as some other kind souls.   I had noticed a trio of ladies were challenging each other on a regular basis, just for fun, outside of the SCS challenges, and I thought that would be a fun way to "get to know" some stampers better.  So I contacted Cindy Motherway (Mothermark on SCS ~ one of those encouraging souls), and asked what she thought of starting such a group.  She was on board, so we asked a few others to join:  Frances Byrne (StampOwl), Carolyn King (Cammie), Cindy Haffner (Cindy_Haffner), Dawn Lusk (DawnL), Deb Mills (88 Keys) and, of course, Charlene Merrick (LilLuvsStampin).  That's how the CCEE (Cheers and Challenges Eclectic Ensemble - or encouragers) group was formed.

This was all before there were many different stamp companies, stores, and design teams, and none of us had blogs, so we each spent a good deal of time chatting in the SCS forums.  And let me tell you, we had a ball bantering.  Charlene was one of the best.  Everyone had a good time encouraging and teasing alike.  Some of the original group has left, other encouraging ladies have joined, and it still remains a warm, inviting place to be encouraged and meet stamping challenges, whether it be a new technique, color combination, or sketch.  That's how I got to know, and love, Charlene (or Bert as we called her...another story).

I never had the honor of meeting Charlene in person, but we talked on the phone on occasion, and corresponded through snail mail too.  The nice thing about the internet, is having an opportunity to make many friends throughout the world.  The disadvantage, is the distance.  We were always going to try and meet up, and just this last year I was going to try and arrange it since my daughter was going to college a few hours away.  But my daughter transferred, and it just didn't happen.  A huge regret on my part!!

So, this card is to honor Charlene today:  Her birthday.  She LOVED purple and penguins, and as many of you know...M&M's.  I decided to make a purple feather...in honor of the angel wings I'm sure she's sporting right now.

I colored the feather image (Fine Feathers ~ Waltzingmouse Stamps) with Tombow markers, spritzed it with water and stamped it onto white card stock.  I did the same with the sentiment (no water though), and added some Washi tape stripes along the left side.  That's it...clean and simple

Miss you my friend.

Flourishes Gambler's Sale

Hello all! 2014 brings new challenges, new vision and a new focus for Flourishes and today starts that focus. If you travel through our store, you know that we have a mix of old and new. Well, with a new year, we want to focus on all new! That means that what you'll find in the store will be smaller in scope, but always something to appeal to your creative side. What does this mean? We need to clear our shelves. What does that mean for you? You get a chance to save and save big! We're bringing back The Gambler's Sale.

One item to try to get your hands on?

Today I used the set Friendship and Flowers.  I thought the little bloom image matched, the flower in the decorative paper I wanted to use, perfectly.  I stamped the image, onto Flourishes Classic Ivory Cardstock, with Pink Petunia, Red Brick and Hint of Pesto VersaMagic inks, along with Smokey Gray Versafine.  I then die cut it out using the Perfectly Pierced Classic Frames die (Flourishes).  I inked the inside of the die cut piece with Antique Linen Ranger Distress Ink, and distressed the edges with Vintage Photo Ranger Distress Ink.

Flourishes Free for All Friday

Free for All Friday with BorderThe weekend is here! Hopefully you have something fun in store for yourself. The Flourishes Senior Design team is delighted to bring you another round of inspiration created with our brand new and beautiful January New Release Sets. There is just so much more you can do with these stamps and we can’t wait to show you more. And, the good news is, you can still purchase the January New Release Bundle at a discount! Today is the last day this discount is available and we don’t want you to miss out!

I chose to make a card using the peony from the set Flowers for Jan.  Flourishes is well known for it's floral images, and I just can't resist coloring them.  They're a dream.  I stamped the peony with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Cryogen White cardstock and colored it with Copics.  I then cut it out, outlined the image with a stylus tool (I layed it over some sturdy foam), and burnished the back with the stylus between the outlines to puff up the image a bit.  After that I layered it over a stamped image that I framed using the Perfectly Pierced Classic Frames Template die (Flourishes).  Oh...I also inked the diecut piece with Anitique Linen while it was still in the die.

Lastly, I sprayed everything with Perfect Pearl Perfect Pearls Mist.  You can see the sheen a bit better below.

That's it for my project today, now hop on over to see what our very talented Design Team has in store for you today with these sets:
