Alcohol Lift-Ink ~ Big Sexy Leaves ~ Power Poppy

Happy Friday y'all!!!  It's that time of week again.  Have you tried the new Alcohol Lift-Ink by Ranger yet?  I purchased it awhile back and haven't had the chance to try it out until yesterday.  And oh my is it fun!!!  It's magical!

These two cards are super CAS, but nothing about creating them was.  I have never used Yupo cardstock before, or Alcohol Lift-Ink.  And I haven't used my Alcohol inks in probably a decade.  So, I had to experiment first.  To learn how to use Yupo and the new Alcohol Lift-Ink, I watched Tim Holtz's video tutorial found HERE.  It's full of useful information!!

After seeing this magical ink, I knew Power Poppy's Big Sexy Leaves Background stamp would work beautifully with this technique!!  And since I am SO READY FOR FALL, I started by creating an inky background with Fall colors.  I used up my whole pack of Yupo and have some pieces that mixed the blues/greens along with the Fall colors and I love the mix, but I didn't let things dry properly (learning curve), so I ended up using my monochromatic pieces.  I plan to try my hand at mixing colors again though.  The leaf and butterfly were diecut from a couple of the other practice pieces.

Now, I realize there are a few of you crazy people that are still trying to hold on to summer, so I included a summery palette too.  I love how versatile this Big Sexy Leaves background stamp is.

The sentiment is from the Power Poppy set Dynamic Duos: Peonies and Tulips.  I wanted a bold script so it would pop over the busy background.

That's it for my projects today, but there are a lot more projects for you to be inspired by.  Check out what the following Bloomies have to share today:

Waltzingmouse February Release Hop

Hello my creative friends!!  Welcome to the Waltzingmouse Blog Hop.  I back today to share my last project for this preview.  If you arrived here from Jeanne's blog you are right on track.

I love the classy elegance of this Special Lady image and thought she would look lovely on the top of a gift drawer box.  I used the tutorial HERE because all the measurements were already laid out and I didn't have to take the time to figure it out.  Papercraft Button does a great job of explaining each part to the drawer and how to make the easel.

Next up on the hop is the lovely and super creative Becca.

   Happy Stamping!

Distress Spray Stain Embossing WMS Pajama Party

It's PJ Party time over at Waltzingmouse stamps, and I've been having a blast with a couple of the challenges!  That's what I love about this party.  Claire comes up with awesome challenges, and a sketch, and it gets the creative juices a flowin'....

For my first card, I decided to try my hand at the Texturise It Challenge.  The challenge is to emboss without an embossing folder.  In fact, I thought it would be fun to use the new Waltzingmouse Folk Art Snowflake die to create my embossed focal point.  Here's a photo tutorial on how I achieved the embossed look.

I LOVE my new Distress Spray Stains (Ranger), and wanted to create a watercolor background with them.  So I took a piece of watercolor paper and spritzed it with water; coating it pretty good.  I then sprayed 4 different stains in this order:  Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and lastly Brushed Pewter.  The background in this photo is an all important tool I use to make sure my spray doesn't get anywhere else except on my paper....that would be a cardboard box.  :)

Next, I wanted the snowflake to be "raised" on the watercolor side, so I placed the Folk Art Snowflake die on the back of my stained paper, laid it on my Spellbinders embsossing mat and ran it through my Grand Calibur.

I love the effect on its own, but I wanted my flake to pop a bit more, so I took a sanding block and sanded the embossed flake while it was still in the die so it kept it's shape.

See how it just pops off the paper now?  And it feels super soft too from the watercolor paper fibers being sanded.  I just want to keep rubbing my fingers over the embossed image because I love the texture so much.

For my card I diecut the image with a Standard Circle die (Spellbinders) and went a step further and added glitter to the whole flake by using a Quickie Glue Pen and some irridescent glitter (Hero Arts).  Lastly, I added another snowflake center using WMS's Snowflake Two die, and again, some glitter and a Rhinestone.  The sentiment is from the set Compliments of the Season Two.

After creating my photo tutorial, I wanted to do something with the Folk Art Flake alone, without the glitter and diecutting, so I created another card. This Folk Art Snowflake has such beautiful details, it deserves to be featured!

For the sentiment strip along the bottom, I used Perfect Pearls and stamped a sentiment from the Seasonal Flourish set over it.  To set it all, I clear embossed over the whole strip.  I LOVE the shiny effect I ended up with.

Okay, the PJ Party has an Old Pajama challenge each month too, and this month the Yonder Star stamp set is being featured.  I thought it would be fun to create a cozy framed piece, by creating a background using the images with a sentiment from this set, and mounting it on a burlap background.

Here you can see the background a bit closer.  It's a challenge to photograph in the shadowbox, but hopefully you can see all the details well enough here.

Okay...if you made it this far, I'm impressed.  This was an incredibly long post...especially for me. But I wanted to share with you how I created my Embossed Snowflake.  It's such a gorgeous die with so many possibilities!!

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for visiting and for all the encouragement you provide.  I love creating and feel blessed to be able to create with Claire's images.  And if I can provide a bit of inspiration, it just warms my heart to the core.

   Happy, Happy Stamping my friends!!
