World Card Making Day with Power Poppy

 

It's World Card Making Day!!  How cool is it that card makers get a day just for them!!  Well Power Poppy is not letting this day go by without a chance forall you card makers to win some gorgeous Power Poppy images!!  All you have to do is make a card using the Power Poppy sketch.  And if you follow a couple more challenges, you'll have even more chances to win.  Be sure to head on over to the Power Poppy Blog for all the details on how you can win.

For my card, I used the gorgeous Poinsettia set.  I stamped the poinsettia with Gray Flannel Memento Ink and colored it with Copics.  I then added some sparkle with glitter and some miscellaneous trims.  The sentiment was stamped with Silvery Shimmer Delicata Pigment Ink and was embossed with Silver ep.  Lastly, I added some mini-dew drops.

World Cardmaking Day with Flourishes

 
Welcome to World Card Making Day at Flourishes 2013! We thought it would be especially fun and fitting to extend a challenge that has to do with your corner of the Cardmaking World! So, here goes: Create something that represents or is inspired by your state or province. We're leaving the interpretation up to you but you could be inspired by your state or province flower, your slogan, the scenery you'll find there, colors, or your state or provincial flag. Then make sure you describe to us what the connection is! Fun right?

I chose to use the Flourishes set Picking Wildflowers because I seriously LOVE flowers, and the wildflowers here in California are simply stunning in the spring.  I have quite a collection of photographs.  All the flowers in this image can be found in our foothills in the Spring.  Although the California Poppy is orange.  The last time I colored this image, I did it in orange and wanted to try it in red this time.  It's stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and Colored with Copics.

World Card Making Day has finally arrived!! And Verve is joining in on the celebration with a challenge on Splitcoaststampers!! Click HERE to see all the details.

Michelle (sf9erfan) has issued an fabulously clever inspiration challenge. She figured since this is World Card Making Day, she would challenge stampers to use the flags found HERE as an inspiration. All you have to do is make a card inspired by one of the flags, and upload it to the Verve thread found HERE, and include the keywords WCMD09E. Be sure to let us know which flag inspired you too.

Now here's the really super part!! Julee has wonderful prizes for the challenge participants!!
There will be 4 prize packages -2 will have the Verve sets Snow Wonderful and Snowflake Splendor and 2 will have the sets Enjoy and Bountiful backgrounds. How awesome is that?!?!?!

Now, about my card. I'm a very *in the box* thinker. So, when I saw this image from the Verve set Swan Song, I thought swan. Until, of course, Julee made a card (found HERE), showing that the swan can be a peacock too. So, I colored my *peacock* with Spica pens and layered it once. The sentiment is from the set Star Struck (Verve), and the sketch is Mojo Monday's Sketch 106.

The flowers were all made with Martha Stewart Punches, and the leaves are a Sizzix die. The lovely paper is Dewfrost (Memory Box), and the corner punches and the panel trio treatments were all made with a Fiskars Corner embosser/punch.

That about sums up my card!
