Black and Brown Owl card

Cindy Haffner Challenged our CCEE group to make a card with Black and brown as the main colors.  I hope my background piece passes.  It's ivory...that's in the brown family right?  Anyway, I've been making some pretty detailed cards lately and wanted to do a simpler one for this challenge.  I just got these Unity Stamps in the mail a couple of days ago, and they seemed the perfect choice.  The solid images lend themselves well to thumping, and that's what I was in the mood for.  I haven't done that in awhile.  Frances (StampOwl) has been challenging me to make a card with an owl for quite some time now.  It could be cause I've been taunting her that I have new owl stamps, but I'm not sure...I think she just enjoys taunting....LOL
So...here's your owl card Hoots!!!
I just got this fabulous Prisma paper from CHF the other day and am in love with it.  One side is lightly textured, and the other side is smooth.  I used the textured side today, and it is awesome for sponging.  I made my sky by sponging Lake Mist (Adirondack) over a circle mask and adding a hint of Cool Peri (Adirondack) to it.  I then lightly sponged Lake Mist over the moon to soften it up a bit.
The tree was stamped with Always Artichoke (Stampin' Up).  I then colored the branches with Chocolate Chip (SU) and thumped the leaves with Choc. Chip also.  The owl and sentiment were both colored with Close to Cocoa, Really Rust and Choc. Chip (SU) again using the thumping technique.  I ink distressed all the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink (Ranger)
There ya have it.  Thanks for stopping by.  And if you'd like to participate in the CCEE challenge, go to our blog CCEE Stampers for the details.  We'd love to see what you come up with...While you're there, you can see what the other CCEEers have come up with.
