Waltzingmouse September Release Preview ~ Day 1

Welcome to Day one of the September Waltzingmouse Release.  Boy are you in for a real treat.  As always, Claire is spot on with her designs.  On point, and super creative.  Today, we're Puttin' on the Ritz with 3 sets:  Art Deco Background, Opera Tags and Puttin' on the Ritz.

I used the one of the Art Deco Backgrounds right behind the red banner.  And the second was used along the bottom and sides.  The Frame, sentiment are from the Putting on the Ritz set.  I thought a Center Step Fold fit the style and would showcase the images well.  Here's a link to a wonderful tutorial by Frances Byrne:  Center Step Fold

That's it for me.  Here's a list of the Design Team participating today, just in case you might have missed a stop along the way.

Going All White

Is it Saturday already?  Wow!  Time sure flies.  Now if only Fall would catch up.  :)  I'm so ready for cooler weather, and I'm hoping working on Christmas cards will help.  It's time for another Crazy 4 Challenges card today, and the challenge is to make an "all white card".  There is absolutely no stamping here.  I used the new Fancy Ornaments and Fancy Foliage dies (Our Daily Bread Designs), along with a Poinsettia die (Spellbinders).  The bg was embossed with a Snowflake Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, and I added some Silver Bead Spray Stamen Clusters (Wild Orchid Crafts) to the poinsettia center.  The rhinestones are by Kaisercraft.

That about sums up my card for today.  I hope you're having a fantastic weekend and have been inspired to make an "all white card".  They're super fun.  And lets face it...it limits one decision about choosing colors to combine.  :)

Happy Stamping!

Flourishes September Release Preview ~ Day 5

We've arrived at the last day and "that's a wrap" on our September New Releases! We know you've enjoyed this fun and festive week peeking at five fantastic new sets. Our last set is ready for all your pretty packaging. This 4 x 6 set illustrated by Marcella Hawley is the perfect companion for any gift or Christmas greeting, wrapping it up in style with a fancy bow, jingle bells, elegant flowers, Christmas boughs, a terrific tag, as well as two seasonal sentiments.

How fun is this image!!  And it has so many possibilities!!  I didn't include any of the embellishments because I wanted you to see the beautiful little knot in the middle, and see the dimension you can get with it by burnishing.  I even put together a small tutorial to show you how I got such depth on the bow.  Although in real life, you can see the "puffiness" of the bow a whole lot better.  Before I start the tutorial, I want to let you know the black background was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder onto Black Magic Core'dinations Cardstock, and rubbed over with a sanding block.  I also embellished, a bit, with some Memorabilia Enamel dots.

Now for the tutorial...

I stamped the image 3 times onto Memorabilia Cardstock by Teresa Collins, and colored them a bit with a light Copic (BG10) that is just a shade darker than the paper.

Next I cut out the full image, then the bow with the tails, then just the double bow.
Sorry the color is so yellow...I took these late at night and didn't edit till the morning.  By then I had pieced the bow, so no do-overs.

Next you will need a foam mat and a stylus.  First, use your stylus to outline the bow.  All the edges and little shading lines.  Then turn your image face down, and in a circular motion,  rub the stylus in between the lines.  It should puff out the bow.  I turned mine over again, and rubbed the stylus on the inside of the loops so it looked more dimensional.

If you click on the photo you can see the dimension a bit better.

Now to assemble:  I use Scotch Mounting tape.  It's a bit thin, which works great for this type of layering, because I wanted a double layer of tape on the base, and a single layer on the next two bow pieces.

Here's the bow assembled.  Can you see the dimples in the bow?  The depth?

One more close-up.
Well, that's it for me.

Flourishes September Release ~ Day 4

Today we're back with snowy slopes, country crisp temperatures, and a cozy house waiting for Christmas decorating. This set, Country Time Christmas, illustrated by Lauren Pope will have you heading for the hills in search of the perfect tree. This earthy and scenic image is paired with five different sentiments and a flurry of snowflakes swirling in the winter sky. Set measures 4" by 6".

Mystery Blogger Graphic
I love...seriously LOVE this scene from Country Time Christmas!  It just warms my heart, and is so beautiful and fun to color.  I wanted a true blue sky (it's actually richer in color than the photo shows), with some snowy slopes, so I cut myself a hilly mask, and sponged the Tumbled Glass Ranger Distress Ink to the top for the sky, and lighter along the bottom to make snowy hills.  I then stamped the image using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, and colored it with Copic Markers.  After diecutting it with a Square die (Spellbinders), I inked all the edges with Brushed Corduroy Ranger Distress Ink.  I sponged on some Cloud White (VersaMagic) ink around the Grommet Tags die (Spellbinders), inked the sentiment with Versamark, and embossed it with White Embossing Powder.  I used my white Sharpie to add some snow to the trees again too.

Flourishes September Release Preview ~ Day 3

We're back today with a third gorgeous Christmas and Winter season set that's really versatile. Set the scene for Christmas and winter with this darling silhouette set, Snow Scenes, illustrated by Lauren Pope. From an elegant deer enjoying the new fallen snow to a pair of children ready to bring their snowman to life, this set offers many mix-and-match options for you to create different "snow scenes!" Set measures 4" by 6".

I love working with Kraft cardstock.  It has such a fun rustic feel to it.  So I thought these silhouettes would be beautiful stamped on the Kraft cs with some chalk snow and sky accents.  I started by stamping the deer with Cup O'Joe Hero Arts Shadow ink, and the added the trees, which I rock-n-rolled with Soft Sand and Cup O' Joe Hero Arts Shadow inks.  I then added the snow lines with white chalk, and a touch of blue to the sky.  Lastly I added some snowy texture with a White Sharpie.

The Design Team has gorgeous winter silhouette creations to show you in our Blog Hop today.

Here's a look at the inside of my card.  I stamped the tree silhouette with Cup O' Joe again, and added some trimmings with my White Sharpie.  I also added some blue accents with chalk.

Flourishes September Release ~ Day 2

Holiday Topiaries Welcome to Day 2 of our fabulous September release week! Today both of our Friends of Flourishes Team and our Design Team will be showcasing a wonderful new stamp set created by our beloved artist Marcella Hawley. Marcella has packed this beautiful 4x6 stamp set called "Holiday Topiaries" with an array of beautiful holiday decorated greenery and 3 seasonal sentiments to match their holiday vibe. This sweet holiday stamp set will surely make an appearance on your homemade cards, handmade gifts, tags and more this season!

Our Timeless Tuesday Challenge this week is...
"Make a Good Impression" - Incorporate dry embossing somewhere on your card or project. It could be an embossing folder, stencils, or even a household item for your embossing....just make sure you "Make a Good Impression"! (FTTC237)

Mystery-Blogger-GraphicDon't forget... Hidden among the Design Team’s blogs today is our Mystery Blogger of the day. Comment on her blog and you could be chosen to win today’s set! The more you comment, the better your chances, so comment away!

I love the partridge, in this set, (I guess it could be a dove too) and the pinecones in that adorable weaved container.  So I stamped the image with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and colored it with a variety of colors from the Flourishes Copic Collections.  The white lines in the feathers, of the partridge, were made using a white Sharpie pen, and then colored over with E31 to soften them.  I aged the circle panel by sponging Antique Linen Ranger Distress Ink around the border while the paper was still in the circle die.

For texture, I embossed the poinsettia, that I made using the Poinsettia Spellbinders die, and my framing is embossed.  I also embossed the back panel with a holly bg using a Sizzix embossing folder.

Here's the inside.  Short, Sweet and to the point.  I just love this sweet little boxed tree and wanted to include it on this card too.  :)

Here are the links to the Copic Collection sets I used:  I only used the YR00 from the Burnt Orange Collection, YR02 from the Gerber Collection, E31 and E33 from the Flesh Tones 1 and Y38 from the Sunflower Collection.  I also didn't use the 100 from the Warm Neutrals.
