Flourishes June Release Preview ~ Day 2

Welcome to Day Two of Flourishes June Release Previews! We're thrilled to show off more nature-inspired offerings for you today with a beautifully penned set, called In Nature, by Lauren Pope.

This 4 by 6" set offers two main images plus three beautifully scripted sentiments.  I chose to use the charming boat/tent scene because it reminds me of great family vacations.  We're avid campers and love to canoe and kayak when the opportunity presents itself.

I colored the image using a variety of Flourishes' Copic Collections and framed it with Flourishes' Perfectly Pierced Classic Hourglass Die.  The dp is Pinwheel by Lily Bee Design.

These images are great for nature lovers or even for the men in your life!

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday and Sneak Peek

Hi all and welcome to day 1 of Flourishes' fabulous sneak peeks and PLUS you'll get an opportunity to WIN our entire new June release just by playing along! For the remainder of this week we will be sharing our newest stamp sets with you! Aren't you excited?! I sure am!

Since Sneak Peek Day 1 overlaps with the Timeless Tuesday Challenge, we have some amazing projects showcasing our newest beautiful floral stamp set by Marcella Hawley today... This stunning new stamp set, called Picking Wildflowers,  features a glorious spray of wildflowers along with some wonderfully heartfelt sentiments. It will be a 'must-have' on your shopping list this week!


For this challenge, create a card or project that moves or opens in a non-traditional manner (FTTC224)! In other words, create a card that doesn't just open normally. Maybe it has a third panel like a tri-fold card or it has a greeting tag that pops up when you pull a ribbon! There are lots of fun tutorials you can try out. Here are just a few examples of some great card tutorials that will fit perfectly for this week's challenge:

I chose to make a card using the Diamond Fold technique.  It was super easy and fun!!  And I think it showcases these wildflowers beautifully!!

Now, I have a confession to make.  I love coloring with Copics, and even took a class a year-and-a-half ago, and I really enjoy working with them.  However, I struggle with combining colors and working the whole numbering system.  Since joining the Flourishes DT, I've been using their Copic Collections, and man oh man!!  It makes the coloring easy peasy!!  I use to take quite a bit of time marking samples on paper trying to get the right color combos.  With the Flourishes Copic Collections, all the combinations are made for you.  I'm in love with coloring again!!  I've included the list, of Collections I used, toward the end of this post.

Now, about my card, I wanted to share that I used the Perfectly Pireced Classic Hourglass Die for my sentiment, and the dp is Remarkable by My Mind's Eye.   I also made my own tassel using Black Jute and a collection of beads (Fire Mountain Gems).

 
Here's a look at the card open.  I didn't add any decorations or sentiments to the panels because I wanted the flowers to be the main attraction.

Textures of Nature ~ Flourishes

Wow! This is an exciting day for me.   At the beginning of the year I cut back on my design team commitments because I wanted to explore other areas of creating.  Although I've enjoyed doing that, I realized that paper crafting is where I'm the happiest.  I was also really missing having more deadlines.  Have any of you felt like the deadlines were overwhelming, but when they were gone you realized they were actually quite inspiring?  Well, that's what happened to me, and just when I was at my peak of suffering from withdrawl, Christine contacted me and asked if I would like to join the Flourishes Senior Design Team.  Talk about perfect timing!!  So now I am thrilled to share with ya'll that I've joined this elite team of paper crafters, colorists, and just plain genuinely warm ladies, and I couldn't be happier!!  

Enough about me, this post is really about this weeks Flourishes Challenge.  And it's a fun one!!

In just a few short days we'll be unveiling a new round of stamps at Flourishes inspired by the outdoors, and we're really excited to show them to you. So today, we're challenging you to be inspired by the TEXTURES of nature!

 HOW TO PLAY: Create something with an outdoorsy texture in mind - or use an element from nature as part of your design. It could be the texture in an embossing folder that has woodgrain, leaves or vines, it could be a leaf rubbing behind your image, something glossy like rain or shiny like a berry. The interpretation is up to you!

 Let me share with you how I was inspired by this week's challenge.

I LOVE Bee Skeps and actually have quite a few.  One of which is from Germany and is over 100 years old.  I think they're beautifully designed and ooze character and texture.  So I thought the Bee My Honey set as well as the Honeycomb background image would work beautifully for today's challenge.  

I colored the Honeycomb background image, with Copics, to use as a border. I stamped the bee skep and it's beautiful flowers from the Bee My Honey set in the corner, colored them with Copics and gave the flowers a bit of sparkle with some glitter.

 For the inside I included the charming honeypot from the Bee My Honey set, with one of the sweet sentiments as well as one of the darling bees.

ODBD For the Love of Vintage

 

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Design's Alumni feature of For the Love of Vintage!! This month the Alumni team will be sharing creations made with sets that focus on a Vintage feel!!  I love the script background with the beautifully framed hyacinth from the appropriately named set: Hyacinth, so I chose to use that one.

I stamped the Hyacinth onto Cryogen White Cardstock and colored it with Copics.  I then cut it out and paper pieced to to dp that I had already stamped the image onto.  The frame is popped up, as is the Birthday sentiment.

The outside borders were made by using the Anja Lace die (Marianne Designs).  I then added a bit of lace, pearls, and some glitter to the blooms, but it's not visible in the photo.

ODBD June Release Blog Hop

 It's time for the Our Daily Bread Designs June Release and I'm excited to share the projects I made using the Children's Prayers set.   If you've arrived here from Audrey's blog, you're on the right track.  If not, you might want to start at the ODBD Blog.

Now, let me tell you about the projects I made.

 

First, I'd like to share my inspiration for today's projects.   The framed prayer on the left was made by my mother before I was born, making it over 45 years old.  The frame is quite beat up after making so many moves, but I won't ever replace it because it was made by her and she passed away when my daughter was 1 year old.  This hung by the crib for both of my children, and will be passed down too.  So, when I saw the "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep" prayer in this set, I knew I wanted to make something inspired by this framed picture.  I made some ornate frames using Spellbinders dies, and included some Crosses from Spellbinders also.

Here's a close up of each framed sentiment in this set.  I used the following Spellbinders dies:  Resplendent Rectangles, Opulent Ovals and Cross Collection

I used Black Magic ColorCore Cardstock by Core'dinations for the frames and sanded them after diecutting.

I also inked up the cross, from Never Give Up, with Tea Dye (Ranger Distress Ink), stamped it off and then stamped it onto Vintage Cream Cardstock (PTI) for the background.  The sentiment panels are all ink distressed using Tea Dye Ranger Distress Ink.
