Thanksgiving Spotlight

Today, the Dirty Dozen Alumni on SCS were challenged to make a Fall themed project with a heart on it.

Here are the requirements:
Challenge Focus: Create a thankful card or gift, Thanksgiving table place card or treat holder, or Thanksgiving home decor item.

I realize this is an odd looking card. There is a reason for the *uncolored* portion of this image. I decided to spotlight the fruit and vegetables in the center of this Cornucopia (Northwoods) in order to represent all of my blessings.

There are so many out there who have very little food, no shelter, estranged family members, poor health...the list could go on and on. Thus the spotlight. I thought the heart was a great idea that Sharon required. Mine is full of thankfulness, yet hurts for those who are suffering right now. I added the flower in the top corner to represent hope. To me flowers represent life and remind me that we are to bloom where we are planted. Sorry for all the symbolism, but that's how this card came about.

The heart and flower are a cuttlebug diecut.

Fall with a view frame...

It's time for the Stamper's Dream Dream Team's second Dreamy Challenge. This month the theme is *Fall With A View*. We were all to create a card with a Fall theme, and it had to contain some type of window. It could be a punched window, a literal window, or any type of window.

Now for the details about my card....I decided to create a framed stained glass window. My frame was cut with the Nestabilities Labels II diecuts, and was matted with dimensional tape to give it depth.

I stamped this Northwoods Gourd and Pumpkin image with Black Onyx Versafine onto vellum cardstock and embossed it with Detail Black ep. I then colored the back of it with copics.

The corner treatments are cuttlebug diecuts, and the bg is embossed with the Forest Branches embossing folder (Cuttlebug). The Pewter Pearls are by Kaisercraft.

I ink distressed all the edges with Walnut Stain (Ranger Distress Ink), and the main panel is popped up with dimensionals also. I tried to get a side photo so you could see the depth of the image, but I failed miserably and gave up...so try and use your imagination...*grin*

Cat in the Hat

Howdy!! I hope everyone is having a fabulous week. I made this card today for SCS's Sketch challenge found HERE. I don't know what I was thinking by adding all the hardware, but what's done is done!!

This adorable *cat in the hat* image Cat Nap by Artful Stamper, was colored with copics, and the hat is flocked.

The little snowman in the picture is from the set Little Somethings (SU - 1998 - retired). For the corners, I cut out a section of the SnowDots embossing folder with a nestability square and ink distressed it with Walnut Stain (Ranger Distress Ink).

The flakes are Felt (SU) and were coated with Dazzling Diamonds (SU) after dipping them in my Glue Essentials pad. The bottom panel is pierced with an ornare template, and the subtle blue flakes on the white panels are Tinsel Town (Pink Paislee). The Merry Christmas sentiment is by Northwoods.

Finally, I added some brads and some Icons Rhinestone stickers.

Eggs for Eggette!!

Is it Monday already? My did the weekend flow by!! Well, that means it's time once again for a CCEE challenge that I do with a super group of friends.

This week, Charlene (LilLuvsStampin) chose Eggette as our Creative Name Featured Stamper on SCS. The requirements? Of course...there are always requirements...the card had to have an egg on it, green, and ribbon.

Now, my CS really has a deep green tone to it, and I used Frayed Burlap (Ranger Distress Ink), which also has a green tone, but it's hard to see in the photo. But the ribbon...definitely looks green. Albeit not bright. You know I don't work well with brights.. *grin*.

I stamped this Inkadinkado image with Frayed Burlap onto Neenah Natural white cs, and matted it with Birchtone Medium (Prismatics). I then added some Frosted Lace Stickles. For embellishments: organdy ribbon (heated slightly with heat tool to crinkle it a bit), Word Window punch (SU) and brads for the tabs, Corner treatment with two Martha Stewart flower punches and brad, Dew Drops, and finally sewing, a corner rounder punch, dimensional tape, and some ink distressing with more of the Frayed Burlap.

I love doing the CNFS!! It's one of my favorite challenges, because now I get to mail this to her!! Woo-Hoo!! I hope she enjoys this card as much as I did creating it.

Richly Blessed

Isn't this Minty Coffee mug just adorable? I saw it at Stamping Bella and just had to have it. I stamped it with Tuxedo Black (Memento) onto Prism Irridescent cryogen white, and colored it with copics and added Christmas Red Stickles to the berries.

The Irridescent paper has a beautiful subtle sparkle to it, and the copics work wonderfully on it. It's perfect for a hint of bling. LOVE it!!

Now, of course I had to use my new Label II Nestabilities too. It's such a fun shape. To add a bit of depth, I sponged Brushed Corduroy (Ranger Distress Ink) around the edges a bit while the diecut was still in the template.

The leaves and punched border are Martha Stewart Punches, the sentiment is by Verve (They have the most awesome sentiments, and use the most gorgeous fonts!!)

The ribbon is SU and was a gift from my dear friend Laurie. And finally, the berry in the leaves is an icon rhinestone, and the black pearls are Kaisercraft.

A Tall Tabbed Bag Tutorial

I'm so excited to be able to share this *sweet* little bag with you. It's so not like me to come up with a decorative bag or box idea, but I saw a wine bottle gift bag in a catalog and thought it would make a great little treat bag. I hope I explain what I did clear enough. If not, feel free to email me with questions.

Before I get to the actual construction of the bag, let me share with you what I used for the front. As you know, it's JustRite week at Stamper's Dream, so I used the thank you image from their 10 Designer Centers and Borders set. (This set has about every type of sentiment you can imagine) I stamped it twice with White craft ink onto Mystic Dark (Prismatics) and embossed it with Detail White ep (SU). I cut out one circle with a scalloped circle Nestability, and a smaller circle with another Circle Nestability. I hand cut the white portion of the circle. I then edged each of the dark pieces with the white craft ink to soften it up a bit. Each panel is popped up with dimensional tape.
Now for the actual bag details:

What you'll need: 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" Cardstock (I used double sided dp, Ski Slope, by Stampin'Up),
Scor-Pal, Exacto Knife,
Rectangle Diecut, Double stick tape,
(At any time, you can click on the photo for a closer view)

Score: 3", 3 1/2", 4", 7", 7 1/2", and 8"
Turn it 1/4 turn and score it at 7 1/2"
Cut up to the score line at 3", 4" and 7" like shown,
and cut off the right corner piece at the 8" score.

Line up your rectangle diecut at the top between your 4" and 7" score, and fold the left side over so it's on top of your diecut. This way it will fit through whatever diecut machine you are using. (Be sure to tape it down first. You don't want a crooked handle...*grin*)

Once you have your window cut out, turn it upside down, and trace the top and two sides of your rectangle onto the inside piece. This will make your flap. Open it up and cut where you've traced. DO NOT cut the bottom of the rectangle or you will effectively cut off your flap. That would mean you would have to start all over again. Talk about frustrating!!! LOL Once you have the flap cut, cut a thin, thin strip off of each side. It will fit through the window opening eaiser. I used a straight edge to cut out my flap.

Fold the scored lines accordian style and line up the back and front. Tuck the flap through the opening and make sure it's flat against the front. About 1/4" up, cut a slit slightly longer than the width of the flap and slide the flap through. You can punch the corners wth any number of punches to give it a more decorative look also.

Add doublestick tape to the 1/2" piece on the right, and the bottom left panel on the side that won't show. Now just attach the two sides together and fold in the bottom flaps and attach.

Here's what it looks like with the tab folded and tucked in the slit, and the sides attached.

Here's an angled view of the finished product.
It would make a great hostess gift.
You could fill it with chocolates, a clear stamp sheet, even a wood stamp.

Birthday Bunny for a Birthday Boy

A precious little boy is turning 3 in a couple of days, and I needed a special card. Since I just received some new MFT stamps from my dear friend Frances (StampOwl),

I thought it would be a perfect time to do their sketch challenge today. And when I saw that SCS's Ways To Use It challenge today was to use watercolor paper, I thought I'd watercolor this MFT bunny called Cupcake Flopsey!

He's stamped with Black Onyx Versafine onto 140 lb watercolor paper, embossed with Detail Black ep, cut out and mounted onto 110 lb Neenah Solar White paper. The dp is Wild Asparagus (MME), and the stars are cuttlebug diecuts.

I pierced the two side strips and sewed twine into place with scrappers floss, and ink distressed everything with Walnut Stain (Ranger distress Ink).

Finally, since this card is going to a little boy, I made a baseball cap for this cupcake delieverer. However, I couldn't stop myself from adding a touch of sparkle to the cupcake with Frosted Lace Stickles, cause the mom of this sweet little guy is a HUGE cupcake fan, and LOVES bling. What can I say...I love bling too. But notice...no ribbon.

To get the curl in the ribbon floss on the top left star, I just wound it around the needle part of my piercing tool.

Imagine with JustRite

I have another JustRite project to share with you today. For this one I made a card with a very simple layout. I love these fun ovals. This one is from the Harmony Classic Oval Stamper II Ensemble and it includes 6 beautiful one word sentiments and 6 borders.

I was inspired by this beautiful Kaisercraft paper to use pinks and oranges. I stamped the sentiment, onto Neenah Natural White, with Pumpkin Pie and Positively Pink (It's all about the *P's* grin) by Stampin' Up, and used my Nestabilities ovals to cut the sentiment out and pop it up with dimensional tape.

The rest is pretty self explanatory.

JustRite Stockings!!

It's JustRite week at Stamper's Dream this week!! All this week Michelle's Stamper's Dream Team is posting projects made with the JustRite products. And let me tell you, they've come up with some amazing stuff!!!

Now it's my turn, along with Amy. I'm so excited to share my JustRite projects with you today. I love their stamps, they are so versatile!!

I have two stockings to share with you that I displayed against this plate so you can see the dimension.

I saw some fabric stockings in a catalog with place settings inside and thought, hey, I could put coffee spoons or a candy bar in them for party favors, either with the name, or just with a sentiment medallion like the next one.

All I did was draw out the stocking shape on white cardstock for my template, traced it onto the back of this gorgeous My Mind's Eye Laundry line paper, and sewed around the edges. I ended up cutting off the top part of my template and tracing it on a separate dp and matting it to make it look as though the stocking is folded over on the top. I sewed around that piece also and glued it to the front of the stocking.

For the name tag I embossed the name with my JustRite Harmony Rectangular set and the Curlz Font, and cut it out with my rectangle nestabilities.

For the second stocking, I ended up cutting out a heel and toe template too and added those to give it a shabbier look. Both stockings are Ink Distressed. I used the Christmas Stamp Ensemble for this one, and again cut it out with my Nestabilities.

Finally, to give it a bit of bling, I took my Stampin' Up snowflakes, covered them with the stazon glue and poured Doodlebug Sugar over them. LOVE the sparkle and the coverage of that ultrafine glitter!!!

Charlene made me do it!!

Yep, it's time for another CCEE challenge and Charlene (LilLuvsStampin - SCS) challenged us to use a restaurant coaster on our card. YIKES!! This was definitely a challenge. No buzzer for me!! Woot!! I used an authentic coaster from a Red Robin restaurant. It had a different text in the window, so I created my own message with my Inkadinkado upper case peg letters.

My son is a freshman in college 1,000 miles away, and I had never texted until he left. I find he's much more willing to *talk* via this method, so I've adjusted. I'm getting pretty good too...*grin* I think he's getting a bit home sick (although he'll never admit it) so I thought I'd send him a card letting him know I'm so proud of him. He just swam in his first college swim meet and took a second in both events (100 fly and 200 fly) He lost the 100 by only .02 of a second. And I missed it...*sniff* Hopefully I'll get to see him compete soon.

The card is pretty basic. This awesome dp is Granola (Basicgrey)!! It's perfect for a masculine feel. I framed it with Kraft (Prismatics) cardstock, and ink distressed all the edges with Frayed Burlap (Ranger Distress Ink) To finish it off, I added the largest Black Pearls (Kaisercraft)...just as long as he doesn't realize he has pearls on his card....*grin* They just look like shiny brads don't they?

Memories at Christmas

My cousin's mom (my aunt) passed away this past summer, so Christmas is going to be especially hard for her and her family. I thought this sentiment, by Hero Arts' Treasure the moments set, was perfect for a Christmas card for her.

I stamped this Holly and Pinecone (Northwoods) image, onto 140 lb Fabriano Watercolor paper, with Black Onyx Versafine and embossed it with Detailed Black ep (Judikins).

I then watercolored it with Adirondack Dye Reinkers (listed below). After that, I ink distressed the edges with Vintage Photo, stamped the sentiment underneath with Tuxedo Black (Memento), and assembled. The middle panel is popped up slightly with thin dimensional tape. If you click on the photo, you'll be able to see that I added Cinnamon Stickles to the pinecones, and Xmas Red Stickles to the berries. Be sure to check out Michelle's Stamper's Dream Store. Michelle is carrying some new Stickles that match the Ranger Distress Ink line...Fantastic!!! You know how I love the Ranger Inks!!

That's it...a very simple card.

A fellow stamper asked if it's possible to use any ink to distress the paper's edges. I like Ranger Distress Inks because they blend and work like a stain. But I've used Stampin' Up and Adirondack Dye inks too. I've also used pigmented inks (mostly white), and they're nice too as long as you let them dry, or heat set them. Experiment and find which you like best.

Wishing Comfort

I made this card for two reasons today. First, I needed a card for a fellow SCSer who recently lost a loved one. Second, I wanted to do the Ways To Use It Challenge which was to use punches or scissors to trim corners. I used my SU Corner Ticket punch.

I stamped this MFT Peppermint image onto Neenah Natural White with Tuxedo Black (Memento), and colored it with my copics.

The gorgeous dp is Provence (Memory Box), and the sentiment is Wonderful Wishes by Verve. I think the ribbon is by American Craft, but I'm not sure.

The ovals were cut and embossed with my nestabilities, and I added some dew drops for just a touch of bling. Oh, and as usual (sorry, I can't help myself), I had to ink distress. I used Frayed Burlap and Brushed Corduroy (Ranger Distress Ink. And finally, I matted my panels with Mystic Dark and Spring Willow Dark Prismatics.

SCS Sketch...Ornament

I love Wednesday's, because I love participating in Rox's sketch challenge on SCS. You can see the sketch HERE. I stamped this Tree Ball image (Artful Stamper) three times onto the backside of Vanilla Cream Prismatics with Tuxedo Black (Memento), and colored them with copics. I Ink distressed the top image with Vintage Photo (Ranger Distress Ink) and framed it with Crabapple Dark. I then cut on the inside of the circle with an exacto knife.

After that, I cut out the trees, snowline and holly from one of the other colored images and popped them up on the main bg image for dimension. Finally, I added an acetate window to the back of the cut out piece, and the popped holly and trim. The snow piece is colored with my inkssentials opaque white pen, and all the snowflakes and holly are glittered up. I added some crystal laquer to the little baubles on the top and bottom of the ornament, and a few dew drops along the sides of the main panel.

Oh, I almost forgot, the beautiful Merry Christmas Script was stamped with Black Onyx Versafine and embossed with Detail Black ep (Judikins)...awesome stuff I tell you!! And the ribbon is Olive Twill (May Arts)

Ali update...Ali made it through some really tough tests with flying colors. They were excited to see that there is no new bleeding, but there is still swelling on her brain so they can't do a biopsy yet. Keep her and her family in your prayers as the decide the next plan of action with their awesome team of doctors. I keep this thread on SCS - HERE - updated daily.

An Old Country Christmas...

I love antiques!! And this Wreath, Sled and Birds scene by Northwoods reminded me of an old barn in the midwest with this charming sled leaning against it. I couldn't wait to make a card with it!!

The image was stamped with Tuxedo Black (memento) onto Neenah Natural white, and colored with copics. I added a touch of Crystal Glitter to the snow and holly leaves with my Quickie Glue pen, and topped off the card with a Detail Black embossed Script Merry Christmas (Northwoods).

The gorgeous plaid ribbon is May Arts and can be found HERE.

ETA: I feel like I deceived y'all!! There was a comment that the sled and birds looked popped up, but since I didn't mention it, it was thought that my shading was awesome. I'm so sorry. I use dimension so often, that sometimes I forget to mention it. The sled and birds are one layer, and then I actually layered the bottom half of the snow too. I had a hard time getting a good picture of it with the glitter, so I didn't add that photo. So sorry for the deception everyone. It wasn't intentional.

Sweet Ali!!

Hello there all my stamping friends!! I'm so sorry for my long absence. Believe it or not, I lost my internet connection last Thursday and haven't been able to get on since. Just a bit ago a wonderful computer guru just got me up and running!! Woo-Hoo!! I sure don't want to go through that again!! However, I did get a ton of organizing accomplished in my stamp room!! That's about the only bright side! *grin*.

Well, with all that said, I'm slow at getting my CCEE card up again this week. Charlene (LilLuvsStampin) is in charge of the challenges this week, and they're awesome!! I made this card for a darling little angel named Ali, Laurie's (Lauraly) daughter. She has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, and is in Seattle right now having some tests done to determine the best possible action to take. If you'd like to know about her progress, there is a thread HERE on SCS where friends have been keeping everyone informed, and now that I have access to the internet, I will be updating the thread as I learn new info. If you'd like to send a card to her while she's in the hospital (it could be two weeks or more), email me and I'll get the address to you. Her favorite colors are bright pink and Gable Green. She loves puppies and horses too.
