Blue/Silver Wedding Cake ~ Power Poppy

Happy Friday!!!  I don't know about you, but I've really been enjoying this month's Power and Spark Challenge to use the new Card Maps sketches by Page Maps!  I had a nephew get married right after Christmas and their colors were navy blue and silver.  I added a pop of red because...shoot...it was only a couple of days after Christmas.  I just had to.  ;)

Anyway, I used one of the Card Maps sketches, Power Poppy's Dream Wedding Clear stamp set, some beautiful Kaisercraft dp and my Copics to make this sweet wedding card.  I also added a bit of sparkle...I mean, it is for a celebration, so of course sparkle is a necessity.

Mix and Match ~ Power Poppy Power and Spark Challenge

 

Happy Friday!!!  I hope y'all are ready for a new Power Poppy Power and Spark challenge!  I thought it would be fun to "Mix and Match" some Power Poppy stamp sets this month!!  All you have to do is use at least two different Power Poppy stamp sets on your project.  It could be two clear sets, two digital sets, or if you're feeling really adventurous, use digital and clear!  What!?!?!?  If you only have one Power Poppy set, please don't let that stop you from participating.  Just use it along with whatever else you have.  Or you could just quick purchase a digital set.  It's really quick and easy to do.

Anyway...on to my project.  I combined two Christmas themed digital sets:  Hollyberries and Wreath: Felt Leaves and Fruit.  There is also a Holly image in the clear set called Holly Golightly, but I wanted my image larger and with digital images, I can make them as large as I want.

I started by creating my background with the Hollyberries set in Photoshop.  I printed it out and diecut it using Stitched Rectangles (Waltzingmouse).  I then printed out the Wreath: Felt Leaves and Fruit set separately.

Everything was colored with Copics, and I added a bit of sparkle to the white pom-poms.  Below is a close up so you can see the sparkle better.

Power Poppy ~ Sweet Petunia Hop

Happy Friday y'all!!  Today is an exciting day for sure!!  The Power Poppy Bloom Brigade is teaming up with the Sweet Petunia Team to do a blog hop featuring the Misti and the new Misti Creative Corners!!  I tell ya, the Misti is a definite "go-to" tool for me.  I use it OFTEN!!  Seriously!  And I'm super excited to show you how I used it and its new Creative Corners.  They are easy, fun and super handy!!

I have two projects to share with you today, and I'm going to start with my Lavender card, using Power Poppy's Lavender clear stamp set, and Misti's Creative Corners.   

I knew I wanted to make a "sentiment square", so I took the two right angle magnetized corners and put them together to form a square.  Now the magnets do not want to be close together when they are the same side, so I flipped one angle upside down, and they pieced together beautifully so I could stamp the sentiment around the square.  I put the L-ruler along the bottom to keep the magnet square in place, and removed it when I wanted to stamp along the bottom.

I also used the Misti to place the lavender bag image directly in the middle of my sentiment square.  I stamped the bag a second time on a scrap piece of paper to color, burnish, and pop up with a dimensional square right in the middle to give the bag some depth.  The edges are all glued down flush with the base.

Next, I have a masculine card to share with you, using the Power Poppy clear stamp set Move the Soul.   I have to tell you, I had an awesome time creating the background for this one.  With the Misti, and its Creative Corners right angle triangle, it is so easy to create a sentiment pattern on an angle.  I love how lined up the background is. 

The Misti has measurements along the side and bottom, so it's easy to position the triangle and stamp every time.  I just slid the triangle down in 3/4" increments each time to stamp the checkered strip.  Easy-Peasy!

The next step was equally as easy to add the "congrats" sentiment with the same triangle. 
 

Lastly, I gold embossed the stars from the same Move the Soul set.  I used Versamark ink and Gold Embossing Powder (Ranger) and unlike the rest of the background, I free-handed the stars because I thought it would take too long to stamp the stars and emboss them using the Misti...too many steps for me.

Now since it is the first Friday of the month, Power Poppy is issuing another Power and Spark challenge, which this time is provided by our dear, dear Julie!!  She has graciously provided 3 different sketches to try.  I used the middle sketch, with the banner, for my masculine card today.  I hope you will take the time to try out one of these 3 sketches.  I think they're super fun!! Besides, each time you participate, you have an opportunity to win some free Power Poppy stamp sets!  Now, that is inspiration if you ask me!!

Soothing Sympathy ~ Power Poppy

Hello, hello, hello!!  I am so excited to start sharing some Power Poppy previews with you today!  On June 28, Power Poppy will be releasing 7 new Clear Stamp sets!!  How cool is that!!!  And today, we're previewing a beautiful Sympathy set called Soothing Sympathy.  It has sweet little sprays of flowers with some gorgeous and encouraging sentiments.  

I started by stamping the soft floral spray, and dicut the curved rectangle leaving a window for the inked sentiment.  I then embossed the front panel and popped it up over the sentiment for some dimension.  Lastly I added some ribbon to the corners and adhered the front panel to a large intricate die for the base.  That's it.

Stretch Yourself with a Power Poppy Power and Spark Challenge!!

Hello everyone!!  Today I'm sharing my first project of the New Year, and it's for the Power and Spark Challenge over on the Power Poppy Blog.  I have the honor of hosting it this month, and I inadvertently pushed myself right out of my box.  

First of all, let me tell you about the challenge.  The New Year is a time to start fresh, and often we challenge ourselves with resolutions.  Those can be tall orders for some of us depending on the goals we set.  So, for today's Power and Spark Challenge, I'd like you to Stretch yourself and create a "Tall" card, while using something "new-to-you" on it.  It could be a technique, a stamp, some paper, or dies...whatever you can come up with.

Awhile back I found a watercolor video tutorial by Jennifer McGuire using the Gansai Tambi Watercolor set.  Now, I've never colored with watercolors before,  (I've used Tombow markers, but never actual watercolors.) and Jennifer explains her technique so well.  These watercolors are pure creamy goodness and so easy to work with, especially the way Jennifer explains it.

I started by stamping Power Poppy's Potted Primroses, with Versamark, onto Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock like Jennifer suggests.   I then heat embossed them with Super Fine Detail Black Embossing Powder (Ranger).  After watercoloring them, I fussy-cut them out and diecut them using the Stitched Rounded Rectangle (Die-Namics) so they would fit perfectly on another piece of watercolor paper that I diecut with the same die.  I also colored a couple of "lone" primroses and adhered them along with some vellum cut Feathers (Spellbinders).  

I thought the sentiments from the Good Thinking Renewal (Power Poppy) set fit perfectly for the start of a New Year, so I added one to the top, and one to a tag.  I also added some flags using the Stitched Fishtail Flag die (Die-Namics), and a cut-out panel using Stitched Basic Edges (Die-Namics).  Everything listed, as well as the paper (Wish Seasons by Fancy Pants) is new to me, and was fun to put all together.

Dimensional Snowglobe Greetings ~ Power Poppy

 

Hello everyone!!  It's Friday!!  Woo-Hoo!!  That means the weekend is finally here and all the fun that comes with it.  Are you ready for Christmas?  I'm getting there, and am excited for the kids to come home. 

But, in the midst of decorating and present wrapping, I thought I'd make a card for this month's Power Poppy Power and Spark challenge, which is to choose a previous challenge to work with.
   
I chose November's Embellish This challenge. I've been itching to color the new Snowglobe Greetings digital image because I knew right when I saw it that I wanted to make it dimensional.  I started by coloring 3 images for the inside and layering them using Paper Tole.
 

For the base, I cut out an extra piece, colored it, put 3 large pop dots behind in the center, glued two cardstock tabs to the side, cut two slits on the outside of the bottom base, slid the tabs through and voila...it looks curved.
 

I embossed the top panel, glued it to a black frame, attached that to an acetate base and popped it up a bit to fit the dimensional image inside.  So this baby is full of depth, dimension, and textures.  For the snow and Santas hat and cuffs,  I used white Liquid Applique.  I used a brush to spread it on, sprinkled it with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (SU!), and then heated it with my Heat Tool.  I also added glitter to the background and Santa's beard.

Minc'ing with Waltzingmouse's Rustic Christmas

Hello creative friends!!  I've been Minc'ing again, and this time with some solid images by Waltzingmouse Stamps.  I tell you, the foiling the Minc machine does is seamless and so striking irl.  Sometimes with embossing, the detailed lettering can get all muddied, but with the Minc Machine, by Heidi Swapp, every detail is clean and crisp every time!!

For today's card, I stamped the Peace on Earth dove (Rustic Christmas-Waltzingmouse) with Onyx Black Versafine and heated it, because pigment ink takes awhile to dry.  I'm not that patient.  I then took the Postage Stamps die (La-La Land Crafts) laid it over the stamped image to frame it and photocopied them together. (Whatever you want foiled has to either be printed with a laser printer, or photocopied because this foil will adhere only to toner.)  

After that, I just ran it through the Minc machine and voila...a gorgeous gold foiled image!!  I then diecut the image with the Postage Stamp die I photocopied.  I also photocopied the largest Stitched Rectangle die by Waltzingmouse, photocopied it, Minc'd it, then diecut it.  Quick, easy, and beautiful! 

 

Here's today's view of our horse barn.  (Our house is behind the trees)  Thanks to some rain and snow on Monday, we have clear skies and a beautiful snow-capped mountain view.  Feeling Blessed!!

Power Poppy Minc'd

Hello friends!!  I have been enabled!!  Becca Feeken posted a video tutorial a little while back, on how to use the Minc machine by Heidi Swapp found HERE.  She demonstrates on how to add the foil to diecuts.  Now I need another machine like a hole in the head, but oh my, this machine is a gem!!  It's super easy to use (I am not tech savvy), and the effect is STUNNING!!!  Please, don't judge the product by my poor photography skills though, because in real life, these babies S-H-I-N-E!!!

Let me give you little background before I get to my cards. The Minc Machine adds foil to images that were made using toner from a laser printer or copier (not an inkjet).  I have a photo copier that uses toner, so I just used that.  When I watched Becca's video, I thought, why can't I take some Power Poppy images, stamp them and then photo copy them.  So, I did just that.  After photo copying some diecuts and the stamped images, I laid the foil on top of the copied images and ran it through the Minc machine.  Perfect every time.  No matter how detailed!!  Pure gorgeousness, let me tell you!!!  I even used the negative pieces by applying Multi-Medium Matte to some cardstock, laying the negative piece on top and diecutting it.  You'll see those a bit later.

For my first card, I used one of the Power Poppy images from the set Spice It Up.  I stamped it onto white paper and photocopied it with the Decorative Labels 28 (Spellbinders) die framing it so I could diecut it and have the image framed already.  The foil embosses beautifully and perfectly.  It's absolutely stunning in person!!  I also photocopied an A2 Scalloped Borders Two die (Spellbinders) to add as a border to my card.

For my next card, I stamped the tree from the Botanical Tree Power Poppy set, and photocopied it with a Stitched Rectangle die (Waltzingmouse) framing it.  Again, so the border is already there when diecutting.  When you photo copy the die, you get a wider shape because it includes the entire metal piece.  So when you use the same die to diecut it, you have a frame, and a negative piece to use.  I never ended up using my negative frames, but I saved them for a future project.

Sorry for the weird angle on this next card.  I had a hard time getting the gold to show properly, as I did with the silver above.

For my next card, I used Copper Foil with an image from the Olive and Oak Power Poppy set.  I added a sentiment from the set using Onyx Black Versafine.

For this Olive and Oak card, I used the negative left over piece.  I LOVE how it has an etched feel to it.

For my final card, once again I used the negative piece from the Spice It Up image I used earlier.  This image was photocopied onto textured cardstock giving the frame a distressed feel  I love how it turned out, although I have a terribly hard time photographing silver.  *sigh*
