Yay!! Precious Baby ~ Power Poppy

Happy, Happy Friday!!!  I am so ready for the weekend, and I'm super excited to share today's card with you.  It has been a LONG time since I went full blown "distress mode" on a card.  Years I think.  And it was so much fun!!!  I have a baby shower to attend for one of my nieces this weekend, and she's from an antique loving family.  Her colors were navy and gray, so I thought I'd lean towards grays for this baby card.  I added some yellows to make it a little more happy.

I used Power Poppy's Precious Baby stamp set.  This image includes a set of baby blocks, but I didn't think they fit well proportionally on the card, so I just cut them off.  Easy peasy.  Below is a close up of the image.

For the inside, I used another of the sentiments included in this set.

That's it for today's project.  I hope you'll check out what the following Bloom Brigaders have to share today:
Thanks for visiting!!  I hope you have an awesome weekend filled with creative ideas!!

Happy Stamping!

Natural Beauties ~ Power Poppy

Hello my creative friends!!!  I hope you are all doing well and have been finding a ton of inspiration all around you.  Before I talk about my post though, I have to just say, my heart goes out to all those in the Midwest states who are suffering such rigid temperatures.  I experienced a -60 degree (with windchill) day while in college in the 1980's, and it isn't a day I would ever choose to revisit, that's for sure.  I'm praying you all stay warm and safe!!!

Now, for today's card.  I thought I'd bring a little sunshine and love with Spring flowers framed with a heart.  I used Power Poppy's Natural Beauties stamp set.  I colored the image with Copics, and  diecut a heart out of a 5 1/4 x 5 1/4" piece of cardstock.  I then added bricks that I diecut using one of Tim Holtz's Mixed Media #4 Brick Thinlits.  I diecut a separate piece, laid the negative over my piece of cardstock and glued the pieces inside their frames.  I then removed the negative diecut piece and voila...you get a brick background.  I hope that all just made sense.  I also added some sweet little Clear Drops that I got from Studio Katia.

Below is a close-up so you can see the brick detail better.

That's it for my project today, But before you go, I have a Power Poppy Special to share with you.  The clear set Hellebore and Hyacinth is on sale for $12.99, and the two digi sets Hellebores and Hyacinth Bulb in Glass are on sale for $2.99.  You better hurry though.  The sale is only good through Sunday.

Through the Woods ~ Power Poppy

Isn't this little tree in a bucket just adorable?  It's from one of Power Poppy's newest Christmas sets called Through the Woods.  I kind of did a "no-line" coloring technique.  Now, it's not totally no-line because I used too dark of a gray to stamp the image.  Thus the gray outlined birds, stars and white ornaments.  It worked for the bucket and tree though.  Below is a close up so you can see how I added White Nuvo Crystal Drops with some Cool Highlights Transparent Microfine glitter (Glitter Ritz) for some dimension.  I hope you can see the sparkle.

By sharing this ultimate close-up, you can also see my marker flicks on the branches, and where I missed some.  Man, I wish my eyes could see this close up while coloring.  Because the image is only about 4" high, I was doing a lot of guess work while coloring the tree. I even used a magnifier to make sure I got the black lines added correctly, on the bucket, with a multi-liner.

Anyway, that's it for today's project.  Be sure to stop by the following Bloom Brigade blogs for some more inspiration:

Cake and Candles ~ Verve Anniversary Hop

Welcome to Day 3 of the Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops!  It's time for another day of spotlighting the Verve release with the Verve Divas and special guests! I am super excited to be guest designing for Verve to help celebrate it's 10 year Anniversary.  How awesome is that.  I had the privilege of being on the Verve Design Team from 2009-2012, and it was seriously an honor.

Today we're sharing our first projects featuring the Cake and Candles stamp set, another fusion of old and new. This birthday themed compilation includes some brand new birthday sentiments with a classy modern font pairing, as well as a few re-introductions of previous sentiments and plain janes.

I decided to go a bit vintage with the cupcake in this set.  I stamped the cupcake with Gray Flannel Memento Ink, onto X-Press It cardstock and colored it with Copics.  I cut it out and burnished it to give it some texture and dimension, and popped it up on some Rossi Belle Prima Cardstock.

Below is a close up so you can see the dimension of the cupcake a bit better.  If you click on the photo, you can see how the frosting is puffed up, and the cupcake wrapper is pleated.

That's it for my project today.

Everything previewed this week will be available to order in the Verve online store on Monday, August 28. If you just can't wait, you can pre-order the entire release now as the August 2017 Buy it All Bundle at a 30% discount through August 27.

Power Poppy's Birthday Layer Cake

Hello Friends!!  I'm excited to share another Power Poppy card with you today!  Have you seen the newest digi called Layer Cake?  It's absolutely darling!!!   I love all the layers with the sweet banner that you can customize with whatever you want it to say because it's digital.  I added one of the sentiments to the bottom using Photoshop too.  I'm really starting to get the hang of this digital stuff.  *grin*

I colored the cake with Copics, and wanted to add some sparkle and dimension to the candy dots, so I used an Ice White Pearl Pen (Viva Decor) and sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds glitter (SU!) over it before it dried.  I also added some Glossy Accents to the glass plate and ink distressed the border with some Antique Linen Distress Ink.  To vintage it up, I distressed all the edges and added some elegant stick Pens along with some pearls and felt hearts.

That about sums up my card for today.  For some more Power Poppy inspiration, check out the following Bloom Brigade Blogs:

A Masculine Happy Birthday

Hello friends!  I needed a masculine birthday card, so I thought it would be fun to haul out some of Waltzingmouse's Woodgrain images.  I find that I always have feminine cards on hand, but never masculine.  They are definitely harder to make if you like to embellish, that's for sure.

I stamped the background panel with the Woodgrain background, then embossed it with a woodgrained embossing folder to give it some texture.  I then layered a couple of woodgrain banners over it after diecutting a frame using the new Stitched Rectangle die (Waltzingmouse).

I then took the Zig Zag Backgrounder image, stamped it with Night Sky (VersaMagic) onto Kraft Cardstock, and diecut it using a Star die (Spellbinders).  Lastly I added the "birthday" sentiment from Hello, Happy Thanks (Waltzingmouse) to the arrow banner and free-hand cut out "Happy" that I stamped onto vintage Cream cs (PTI).

That's about it.  Thank you so much for dropping by!
I hope you have a FANTASTIC week!!

Happy Stamping!

No act of kindness is ever wasted

Hello my creative friends.  I'm posting more than usual and am having too much fun.  I have another Quietfire card to share with you today using the sentiment No Act of Kindness...  I decided to go vintage again and used a few "new dies to me".  The background was diecut and popped up with dimensional tape, as well as the sentiment panel and Vintage Parasol.  The sentiment was stamped onto Kraft cardstock with Whisper White (SU!) pigment ink and embossed with White ep.  I also added some Whisper White to the border.  Lastly, I added a vintage rhinestone button, some seam binding ribbon, pearls and rhinestones.  Oh, and I sanded the background with a sanding block, after diecutting and embossing, for some more texture.

That's it y'all!  Thanks for dropping by!

   Happy Stamping!

Distress Spray Stain: Yee~Haw Birthday

I made these two cards right around Christmas and never got around to sharing them.  So I thought I would do so today.  I had some fun playing around with Tim Holtz's Distress Spray Stains, and made two different cards with the same paper.  I used Mustard Seed, Barn Door, Orange Marmalade, Tarnished Brass, Vintage Photo and a touch of Black Soot.

I started by spritzing my watercolor paper with water and then adding the colors letting them run together.    If you let the paper dry in between colors they will stay separate, but I wanted mine to blend more.

For my first card, I thought the colors would make a good sunset, so I combined two Waltzingmouse sets:  Way Out West and Back in the Saddle
They're stamped with Onyx Black Versafine

Using the same distressed watercolor paper, I gave my second card an entirely different look.  I just used some stencils, dies and debossing folders.  No stamps on this one.  The gears were diecut out of adhesive backed metal.  I added a bit of Black Stazon to give them some dimension.  The sentiment was made using a Shadow Press Debossing folder by Tim Holtz (Sizzix).  I just sanded it a bit after running it through my die-cutting machine.

The rest is pretty explanatory.  I have the entire supply list at the bottom.

But, before you leave, you should head on over to Waltzingmouse Stamps!!  Claire is having a 40% off Retiring sets sale.  And there are only a few left.

Thank you so much for dropping by.  I hope I've inspired you to try some Distress Stains.  They are super fun!  And Waltzingmouse Stamps has just the variety of images to make each card unique.

  Happy Stamping!

Power Poppy October Release Preview ~ Day 3

Do you like gingerbread?  Have you ever made a gingerbread house?  I honestly never have.  Is that sad?  But I can now say I've colored one.

Today I have a Power Poppy card to share with you.  This darling gingerbread house is from the new set, appropriately called, Frosted Gingerbread.  I colored the house with Copics and added the little white dots, to the candied roof, with a white Sharpie pen.  For the snow, I covered the areas with Puffy White paint by Tulip and added glitter to it before letting it dry for 4 hours.  Then I took my heat tool to it and watched it puff up.  It looks and feels like frosting!  Super fun!

I took the sentiment "Hope, Peace, Cookies" cut it up, and added it to the circle's edge.  I also added some acrylic paint splatters and embossed background.  If you click on the image below, you can get an even closer look at the "frosting".

That sums up my project for today.  Here's a list of the Bloom Brigade participants:

Copics:  R: 39, 37, 35
              E: 59, 39, 37, 35, 33, 31
           BG: 15, 13, 11
              T:   3, 1, 0

Thanks for dropping by, and for the comments.  Your input is much appreciated!

Power Poppy Peeps Challenge

Welcome back my creative friends!  Once again Friday has snuck up on me, so I have a Power Poppy Peeps Challenge card to share with you.  I used this week's Splitcoastampers' Sketch challenge (SC504) as my inspiration, and added just a bit to it......okay...A LOT to it.  I got a bit carried away this week, but let me tell you, I had THE MOST FUN adding little things here and there.

I absolutely LOVE the Power Poppy Farmer's Market stamp set.  I still have yet to color one more image in it, and I am truly looking forward to it.  Every image is thoroughly delightful.  This week, I chose to color the crate of apples with my Copics.  Now, I realize with all that's "going on" in this card, it's hard to see what I really wanted to focus on, so I've provided a close up, so you can see all the wonderful detail Marcella puts in her images.  It's incredible!

I know, I know...there were no flags or banners in the sketch, but believe it or not, I felt the corner looked a little bare.  What?  It did...truly!!  So I stamped the leafy part (or kale) of one of the images, with white, onto kraft card stock and created a little banner.

I love the detail in the leaves.  Marcy thinks of everything!!

Well, now, that's it for my project today.  I hope you'll have a chance to join us for our Power Poppy Peeps challenge this week.  We truly love seeing what you do with Marcella's designs, and you could be featured on the Power Poppy blog and be entered into a drawing for some more Power Poppy stamps!!  Head on over to the Power Poppy Blog for all the details.

But don't forget to check out what these Bloom Brigade team members have made to inspire this week!
Copics:  R39, R37, R35, R11, G28, G24, G21, YG13, YG11, E47, E35, E33, E31, E000, T5
