Hoppy Snowflakes ~ Power Poppy

Hello everyone.  It's been quite awhile since I've posted and I'm very sorry.  Life has a way of interrupting our plans and expectations sometimes, and I haven't been able to stamp like I'd like to. But I'm back, and excited to share my creation with you today.

I had fun combining two very different Power Poppy stamp sets:  Grandma's Snowflakes and O Hoppy Day.  There are quite a few birthdays that we celebrate in December, and I've been told (I don't drink beer, so I'm going according to what others have said), that beer is best when it's really, really cold.  So, I thought...snow is cold...why not combine these two sets for some fun, to celebrate a friend's birthday.

I started by diecutting a piece of kraft cardstock, left it in the die, and taped it to my surface.   I masked off a 2 1/4" stripe on the bottom third, and then sponged on some Whisper White (SU!) pigment ink.  I removed the masking and stamped the Grandma's Snowflakes.

Then, I stamped the O Hoppy Day image with Gray Flannel (Memento) Ink and colored it with Copics.  I used Liquid Applique for the foam, and the sentiment was stamped with Onyx Black (Versafine).  Lastly, I splattered on some white acrylic paint, and voila...you can see more detail below.

That's it for my project today.  Be sure to check out the following Bloomie blogs for some incredible inspiration!!!

I hope you are enjoying getting ready for Christmas.  I actually have all my gifts wrapped and under the tree and am ready for the festivities to begin.  The Leyendekker Christmas get-together is actually this very evening.  It's quite a big deal because we usually have 80+  there.  My in-laws are 90 and 91 years, and have 8 children who are all married.  There are 29 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren with 2 on the way.  And...most live in California.  Only 3 Grandchildren live out of state with their spouses and kids.  It can be a bit crazy.  :)

I hope you have the most Blessed Christmas!!!
  Happy Stamping!

Let Your Heart Be Light ~ Power Poppy Happiest Holidays 2018 Previews

Hello everyone!!  It's day two of Power Poppy's Happiest Holiday 2018 previews and we are featuring a gorgeous new set called Let Your Heart Be Light.  It includes two gorgeous holly and poinsettia images that have coordinating light beams,  along with 6 sentiments.

I thought it would be fun to use a unique fold for opening this card, so I made my folds and stamped one of the images on both ends and trimmed around the base of them.  I then stamped the sentiment in the center using the Misti.

Everything is colored with Copics, and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds glitter (SU!)

That's it for my project today.  If you haven't already, stop by the following Bloom Brigaders to see what they have to share:

Christmas Corgis ~ Power Poppy Happiest Holiday 2018 Preview

https://powerpoppy.com/collections/happiest-holiday-2018
Are you ready for some previews? We're getting ready for Power Poppy's Happiest Holiday 2018 release, and today we're featuring the super adorable and creative Christmas Corgis.  I know you know where Marcy's inspiration came from.  ;)

I love this little guy getting into mischief with a bow from a package.  I can totally see my Shih poo doing this very thing, as I'm sure many of you can relate with your little "fur-babies".

http://powerpoppy.com/products/christmas-corgis/I colored him first with Copics and then added some fur highlights with Polychromo pencils. The package was all paper pieced with papers from Simple Stories' paper pack Winter Wonderland, and the sentiment was "rock-n-rolled" with two Distress Inks:  Barn Door and Aged Mahogany.  I also stamped a few little paw prints in the background and colored them in with Copics.

That's it for my project today, but you must check out with the following Bloom Brigaders have to share:

Hops and Barley ~ Power Poppy

Hello, hello, hello!!!!  I hope you all had a great week and are looking forward to an even better weekend!!!  I'm looking forward to a "no pressure" kind of weekend.  No plans...nothing demanding...just going with the flow and getting done what gets done.  Does that make sense?  I'm not putting any pressure on myself.

We did, however, just get done celebrating my son's 28th birthday, thus the "Beer card".  Power Poppy's Hops and Barley digital stamp set could not be more perfect for him.  He is a beer "connoisseur"... according to this family.  He LOVES craft beer.  So much so, that he has just finished designing and building a fenced in garden plot to grow hops.  He did offer to share part of it with his wife to grow some herbs and vegetables though.  What a guy right?  ;)  I, myself, thinks beer tastes like what I would imagine gasoline would taste like.  No matter how much I've tried (and I have tried different brands...even ice cold), I just can't develop a taste for it.  So, I don't get this whole "craft beer craze".

All that being said, I really enjoyed coloring this no-line version of Hops and Barley.  I love Marcella's creative mind.  What a perfect set for Beer lovers!!

I just used Copics, and left it in the diecut framing after cutting and sponged some Antique Linen and Pumice Stone Distress Inks around the borders to highlight the image even more.

Below is a close-up of the colors.

That's it for my project this week.

Power Poppy Hop ~ The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge

http://www.thedailymarker.com/2018/06/day-1-the-daily-marker-30-day-coloring-challenge/

Hello, hello, hello!!!  I am hopping along with some super creative and fun Power Poppy Design Team members today to encourage participation in Kathy's Racoosin's 30 day Coloring Challenge.  This challenge is designed to encourage you to color something (anything), with whatever type medium you choose, for 10 minutes each day for the next 30 days. I color most every day, but I always forget, or am too shy, to share my progress.  It's something I am working on.

I actually totally forgot to take some progressive shots of the progress of this card, and I'm sorry I did.  It was quite the process for how it got here.  I will show you, however, the original finished card at the end of this post.  I kept looking at it, and looking at it, and something felt off.  I asked my trustworthy daughter (she is ALWAYS honest if I ask her what she thinks about a project), and she didn't like that the heart matched the background.

Before I get more into the story, let me explain this card first.  I started by creating the background with Power Poppy's Big Sexy Leaves background stamp.  I inked it up randomly with 3 different Distress Oxide inks:  Forest Moss, Gathered Twigs, and Fired Brick.  I then liberally spritzed it with water and stamped it onto watercolor paper using my Misti.  The Misti was a handy tool because after I heat set the wet image, with my heat tool, I was able to stamp perfectly over the watercolored image with Tuxedo Black Memento ink giving it the look you see here.

Next, I colored up a variety of flowers, from the new Power Poppy set called Abundant Petals, and arranged them in a bouquet.  I had colored the open tulip 3 different ways, but none of them made it to the bouquet because I just didn't think the colors worked together.

After arranging the flowers the way I wanted them, I adhered them to the card and added a sweet little sentiment flag using a sentiment from the Abundant Petals set.

Oh, and I should add...I used Copics for all the coloring, and added E31 to all the flowers and leaves to tone down the colors so they would flow better with the muted background.

Here's a look at the card before I changed the heart:

So, that sums up my coloring project for today.  I hope you are inspired to get coloring!!

Before I include the links to the Power Poppy designers participating in today's hop, I have one more thing I want to share with you.

I thought you might like to know that Marcella is offering a special on the Burst of Kindness Stamp set and the digital Spring Meadow Bouquet.  It's a sweet deal!!

Creative + Curious Wild Mushrooms ~ Power Poppy

http://powerpoppy.com/products/wild-mushrooms
Hello my creative friends!!!  It's the second day for Power Poppy previews of the new Creative + Curious Collection, and I'm featuring an absolutely fantastic Wild Mushroom set.  Seriously...Marcy has included such a variety of super fun mushrooms that I had a hard time choosing which one to use until I focused on one of the sentiments.  It says "I am so happy I found you".  I immediately thought that I had to make a masculine card for my husband.

Now, you might be thinking why mushrooms for my husband...well...he HATES them, and I love them.  We can be kind of ornery to each other at times...well, a lot of times, so why not make him a card with mushrooms? In his defense, the only mushrooms he has ever seen in the wild, grow on piles of manure that we store in the back of our dairy before using it as fertilizer in our fields.  So, I imagine that might be a bit disgusting if those are the only ones he can think of.  haha

I thought the Morel mushrooms were super fun with their sponge-like texture, so I decided to use the no-line technique with them.  I started by stamping the mushroom vignette with Peanut Brittle Memento ink onto X-Press It cardstock, masked off the image, and sponged Faded Jeans, Peeled Paint and Walnut Stain Distress Oxides around it.  I then (with the mask still on) sprinkled water onto the distressed areas.  I then removed the mask and proceeded to color the image with Copics.

I also scored a frame that I made after diecutting and opening for a bit of texture, and added the sentiment with a mini-paperclip.

Oh, and by-the-way...there are coordinating dies for this set!!  Yep!!!  How awesome is that!?!?!?

That's it for my project today.

Under Glass ~ Power Poppy

Hello everyone!!  Is everyone enjoying Spring?  If your weather is anything like ours, it's completely out of whack!!  I'm loving it though.  I love change.  But, then again, I don't have to deal with snow like some of you!!  We're just getting a ton of water, which we are in desperate need of, so no complaining here.

Since it is officially Spring though, I thought I'd make a Springy card using Power Poppy's charming Set Under Glass.  I LOVE butterflies and moths, so naturally I gravitated toward this image.  I also haven't made anything "vintage" in quite sometime, so I used muted tones and papers, and distressed the edges up a bit.

The image is popped up under acetate, which is also popped up to give it all an authentic "behind the glass" feeling.  You can see the depth better with the two images below.

I stamped the moth 4 times, cut it out and popped it up under the glass, and on the banner.  Everything was colored with Copics, and the edges were ink distressed with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink (Ranger).

That about sums it all up for me today.  For some more inspiration, be sure to stop by the following Bloom Brigader's blogs:

Rocking Blooms ~ Power Poppy

Hello!!  It...is...Friday!!!  I am so ready for this weekend, and I hope you are ready to see a new Power Poppy card I made using one of the new Va-Va-Valentine digi images.  This fantasticly adorable set has 6 super fun images, along with four sentiments that you can include with them.

I chose to use the "You Totally Rock" image all by its lonesome...cause shoot...it says it all!!  Isn't it so fun?  Marcy is so creative and clever!!  Her designs always inspire!!

Oh, I should mention, that I didn't have cardstock in the right color blue to match my radio, so I just colored some X-Press It cardstock strips with the B04 Copic and voila...the perfect match.

Happiest Holiday 2017 Release Hop ~ Power Poppy

https://powerpoppy.com/It's finally here!!!!  Power Poppy Release Day has arrived at last!!!  And what a week of previews it has been!!  I hope you've enjoyed all the sneak peeks and are eager to get to the Power Poppy Store and start your shopping.  First, a few more projects to inspire!!!  The Bloom Brigade are all sharing one more design to show you how beautiful and versatile these new Happiest Holiday 2017 sets are!!!

Today, I'm sharing a card focusing on the gorgeous floral spray from the Winter Wonderland set, and a sentiment from the Glitter House Village set.  I think they go together beautifully, showcasing how versatile Marcella's sets are.

I wanted to create a different background to make the image pop, so I diecut the Stitched Fishtail (Elizabeth Craft Designs), left the X-Press It cardstock inside, stamped the image over the die, and made a mark every 1/4" on the top and bottom (With the .03 Copic Liner) and connected the dots.  I then colored every other stripe with Copic Marker 110.  The hard part was figuring out where to color behind the image.  Then, I just colored the image, added the sentiment and a few sequins.  I liked the shape as it was, so I just cut a back to match.

Happiest Holiday Release Previews ~ Glitter House Village

Hello friends!!!  I hope you've been enjoying a really nice weekend.  We received some much needed rain yesterday, and it helped clear up some of the smoke in the air from all the CA fires.  I am so very thankful!!  Coloring this charming little village scene with the church centralized really helped me reflect on all that I am grateful for.

http://powerpoppy.com/collections/happiest-holiday-collection/products/glitter-house-village
I'm in a vintage mood right now I think because I can't help going all soft and pinky with all my coloring lately.  So here you have it again today.  Power Poppy is featuring this sweet little Glitter House Village and it has a bunch of sweet background and filler images.  LOVE them!!  Today, the village is colored with copics and I added a sprinkling of glitter to all the snow and ornaments.  The diecut background is also glittery, but it's hard to see in this photo.
