Power Poppy ~ Sweet Petunia Hop

Happy Friday y'all!!  Today is an exciting day for sure!!  The Power Poppy Bloom Brigade is teaming up with the Sweet Petunia Team to do a blog hop featuring the Misti and the new Misti Creative Corners!!  I tell ya, the Misti is a definite "go-to" tool for me.  I use it OFTEN!!  Seriously!  And I'm super excited to show you how I used it and its new Creative Corners.  They are easy, fun and super handy!!

http://blog.mysweetpetunia.com/2017/02/creative-corners.htmlI have two projects to share with you today, and I'm going to start with my Lavender card, using Power Poppy's Lavender clear stamp set, and Misti's Creative Corners.

I knew I wanted to make a "sentiment square", so I took the two right angle magnetized corners and put them together to form a square.  Now the magnets do not want to be close together when they are the same side, so I flipped one angle upside down, and they pieced together beautifully so I could stamp the sentiment around the square.  I put the L-ruler along the bottom to keep the magnet square in place, and removed it when I wanted to stamp along the bottom.

I also used the Misti to place the lavender bag image directly in the middle of my sentiment square.  I stamped the bag a second time on a scrap piece of paper to color, burnish, and pop up with a dimensional square right in the middle to give the bag some depth.  The edges are all glued down flush with the base.

Next, I have a masculine card to share with you, using the Power Poppy clear stamp set Move the Soul.   I have to tell you, I had an awesome time creating the background for this one.  With the Misti, and its Creative Corners right angle triangle, it is so easy to create a sentiment pattern on an angle.  I love how lined up the background is.

The Misti has measurements along the side and bottom, so it's easy to position the triangle and stamp every time.  I just slid the triangle down in 3/4" increments each time to stamp the checkered strip.  Easy-Peasy!

The next step was equally as easy to add the "congrats" sentiment with the same triangle.

Lastly, I gold embossed the stars from the same Move the Soul set.  I used Versamark ink and Gold Embossing Powder (Ranger) and unlike the rest of the background, I free-handed the stars because I thought it would take too long to stamp the stars and emboss them using the Misti...too many steps for me.

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/Now since it is the first Friday of the month, Power Poppy is issuing another Power and Spark challenge, which this time is provided by our dear, dear Julie!!  She has graciously provided 3 different sketches to try.  I used the middle sketch, with the banner, for my masculine card today.  I hope you will take the time to try out one of these 3 sketches.  I think they're super fun!! Besides, each time you participate, you have an opportunity to win some free Power Poppy stamp sets!  Now, that is inspiration if you ask me!!

That's it for my projects today.  I've provided a link list to all those participating in the blog hop today so you won't miss a one.  Each one of these gals is super creative and clever, so you'll want to make sure you stop by each of their blogs for some more inspiration and if you leave a comment on each blog, you will be entered to win one of two $25 Power Poppy Gift Code, or a Misti/Mini Misti.  Winners will be announced April 14 on this page of the Sweet Petunia blog for the Misti, and the Power Poppy blog for the gift code.  How cool is that!?!?!

Thanks a bunch for dropping by!!  I hope you've been inspired today!!  Have a super awesome weekend!!  And...

  Happy Stamping!

No act of kindness is ever wasted

Hello my creative friends.  I'm posting more than usual and am having too much fun.  I have another Quietfire card to share with you today using the sentiment No Act of Kindness...  I decided to go vintage again and used a few "new dies to me".  The background was diecut and popped up with dimensional tape, as well as the sentiment panel and Vintage Parasol.  The sentiment was stamped onto Kraft cardstock with Whisper White (SU!) pigment ink and embossed with White ep.  I also added some Whisper White to the border.  Lastly, I added a vintage rhinestone button, some seam binding ribbon, pearls and rhinestones.  Oh, and I sanded the background with a sanding block, after diecutting and embossing, for some more texture.

That's it y'all!  Thanks for dropping by!

   Happy Stamping!

Power Poppy Pastel Primroses

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/2015/04/its-pop-of-pastel-challenge.html
Hello friends!  Once again, Friday has arrived, and that means a Power and Spark challenge over at Power Poppy.  This month, Ally is challenging us to use pastels.  I thought the Primroses, from the Potted Primroses set, would look lovely embossed in white and colored with a soft color palette.  I originally went literal and tried using pastels on kraft.  I liked the look but I decided instead to go more vintage.  Shocker isn't it.  ;)

I stamped the Primroses with Whisper White ink (SU!), embossed them with White ep (Ranger), and colored them with Tombows.  I used quite a few Dies and Punches and will list those at the end of the post.  The sentiment is from the set Dynamic Duos: Peonies and Tulips set.

Here's a closer look at the image.

That's it for me today, but you won't want to miss what the following Bloomers have to share.  These gals have some serious skills!

I hope you all have a most fabulous weekend.  I'm heading to the mountains to spend some precious time with some dear, dear stamping friends.  Excited doesn't even describe how I'm looking forward to it.

   Happy Stamping!

Vintage Postcards ~ Waltzingmouse Stamps Dec. Release

Hello my dear creative friends!!  I've been on pins and needles eager to share this project with you because it is so dear to my heart.  For the last 3 years, for 5 glorious days, the first weekend in November I got to spend time with two very special and talented friends ( Linda Duke and Becca Feeken ) in Pasadena, CA at the Spellbound Event.  It's a time when women from all over the country and Canada, come together to learn creative techniques by incredibly talented women who have mastered their craft.  We made rhinestone and leather wrapped bracelets, a Mica dusted snowman (which appears in the final photo), Soldered bracelet charms, and a beautiful wall hanging which was my inspiration for today's project.

I LOVE anything vintage!  I know...shocker!!  So when Claire came out with a Vintage Postcard set, I was beside myself with giddiness!!  Seriously...I'm sure I looked quite silly.  Since I had just made a lace and applique adorned wall hanging, I knew, right away, that I wanted to make a framed collage to compliment it.  This is what I came up with.

I started by stamping the top "Post Card" image with Smokey Gray Versafine ink, and added the the lined image along with some "distressed" text from the Text-It set.  To get it to look distressed, I just inked up the text, and took my finger and rubbed some off.  Easy-peasy!  Lastly I added the stamp in the corner by inking it up with Perfect Plumeria (VersaMagic) in the center, and Malted Mauve (VersaMagic) along the border.  After distressing the Post card with Antique Linen (Ranger Distress Ink, along with a bit of Vintage Photo and Black Soot (Ranger Distress), I layered it over a collage of diecut pieces, and included a few more.  All the supplies will be included at the bottom of this post. (There's quite a list.... ;)

After creating my collage, I wanted to mount it in a shadow box, so I purchased a black frame from Amazon Prime and had the frame delivered in two days.  SWEET!  But it was black.  That totally didn't fit with my vintage theme.  So, I took Champagne Gold Metallic DecoArt Acrylic paint and used a sponge dauber to add ink and texture to the frame.  The base in the shadowbox is just decorative lace paper that I purchased at Paper Source in Pasadena, CA last year while at the Spellbound Event.  You never know when a last minute purchase will come in handy.  It could even take a year.  :)

Here it is framed and hanging on the wall.  It's hard to get a good photo with the glass, and I have a huge and I mean HUGE window in the front of my home where this is hanging.

Lastly, here's a look at the grouping.  I made the snowman (taught by Colleen Moody) while at Spellbound, and the garland laying on the suspended table was made by A Gilded Life (the mother-daughter team who puts on Spellbound).  The Bottle brush trees, as well as the Tree of Pearls were purchased at Roger's Gardens in Corona Del Mar, CA while we were down South for Spellbound.  That store is INCREDIBLE!!  To say the least!!

Whew!  That's finally it for today.  I know...quite a long post.  But like I said at the beginning, it's a project dear to my heart because it will always remind me of the special time spent in Pasadena with Linda and Becca!

Thank you so much for dropping by!!  I hope you are having an awesome weekend, and will stop in again tomorrow for another vintage inspired creation!

Happy Stamping!

Waltzingmouse Stamps August Release Previews ~ Day 2

Hello Stamping friends!!  Welcome to Day 2 of our WMS August Release Previews!!  I hope you enjoyed yesterday's inspirational projects and I can't wait to share today's with you!  Today we're featuring 3 sets:  Little Darlings Sentiments, Little Darlings, and Tis the Season.

Little Darling Sentiments has a variety of wonderful sentiments fitting births, baby showers, baby announcements, etc.  I chose to make a modern "chalkboard" type card using two of the sentiments.  Claire has such a flair with her sentiments and phrases.  I love the "New Fangled Parent" phrase.  How fun is that!?!?!  And see that sweet scalloped panel?  That's a new Waltzingmouse Stamps die called the Picot Panel die.  Isn't it absolutely charming!!!

Now the Little Darling images are gorgeous sketch type drawings of vintage baby images.  This bassinet is stunning with all it's gorgeous detail.

Here's a close-up view so you can see Claire's attention to detail.  I added the "Special Delivery" sentiment too.  Isn't the font just stunning!?!  I colored the white Silk ribbon with the R11 Copic to match the decorative paper.

Lastly, Claire has designed a gorgeous, beautifully fonted set of large Christmas sentiments called 'Tis the Season.  I embossed the "Christmas Wishes" sentiment with Black Sparkle embossing powder (Ranger), and I also embossed the frame with Snowflake Tinsel embossing powder (Ranger).  The poinsettia was diecut out of gold cardstock by Denami Design.  I just love that elegant font!!

Well, that's it for today's preview.  Tomorrow we're celebrating Halloween.  I hope you'll join us!

Here's a link to all the WMS design team members with inspirational projects to share today!

Thanks a bunch for dropping by!
    Happy Stamping!
