Let your light shine.

Have you seen the Sketch Challenge on SCS? It's so my type of sketch. Lots of layers and shapes!! So, I designed this card around Rox's sketch today using the lightpost image from the Inkadinkado set Lanterns. I turned the sketch sideways and rock 'n rolled the image with Versafine's Smokey gray and Brilliance Graphite Black, then embossed it with Clear Detail embossing powder (Judikins).

I made the sentiment with Harmony Rectangular stamper and the 25 pt. Times New Roman Complete Font and Lowercase and Trompe Script and Trompe Script Lowercase Fonts from JustRite. The edges are ink distressed with Milled Lavender (Ranger Distress Ink).

God Shed His Grace on Thee!!

It's Monday!! Woo-Hoo!! I actually love Mondays. It's my get back on track day so to speak...I plan my week and get the most accomplished.

Well, today I have another Our Daily Bread Designs Sneak Peak. Kelley has two new sets that will become available May 1. You'll want to check these out. They're awesome!! This set has some fabulous sentiments. Can't wait for you to see them all. I feel like I'm channeling Silke (Blog - My Life). She makes the most exquisite, clean and crisp cards, and often with a lot of white space. That's not my forte, but this idea popped in my head. Probably because when I visit her blog, I just gaze and gaze at her creations. She's quite the inspiration.

For the scored bg panel, I just lined up my white panel on my Scor-Pal, and scored all the lines (vertically and horizontally) in order to give it a plaid look instead of a checked!

Monday is also the day I do my weekly challenge with my CCEE group. Cindy challenged us to use a tool or product that hasn't seen much love lately. So I hauled out my Queen & Company sprinkles brads. Click HERE to see what old tools or products the other gals dug out of hibernation.

The shapes were all diecut with Nestabilities (Spellbinders). The little stars were leftovers from a Martha Stewart snowflake embossed border punch. And the multicolored mini- rhinestones are by Zva. The border was also punched with the Martha Stewart Wavy Border.

Our Daily Bread: Sneak Peek

Jeanne Streiff has issued a Limited Supplies Challenge on SCS to make a card based on the colors of a room in your home. Now, I normally don't participate in this challenge...well...simply because I'm not very good at *limiting* myself. I keep adding, and adding, and adding. I adore CAS (Clean and Simple) cards. Mostly because I so wish I could make cards like that. I don't have an eye for that though. My balance is always off. So, back to this challenge. We were also to limit our layers and embellishments. Believe me, 4 layers is limiting me...and 3 stars with twine...very limited. So, I hope I haven't overexteded myself in this one.

"The Lord is my Shepherd" sampler was made by Miss Fannie Turgeon in 1993. And this, among other samplers, is hanging in my guest bathroom. It's painted a deep red, and is decorated with rustic country samplers and outhouses. I know...an odd combo, but I felt they were both in the same era...kwim?

This is my first ever sneak peek!! Woo-Hoo! Kelley, from Our Daily Bread Designs, has some fabulous new images for you for that will be released May 1. The DT has already been busy making some GORGEOUS cards. I'm seriously in awe!! The links to their galleries are on the left. Be sure to check them out regularly. Everyone will be posting soon.

The papers were ink distressed with Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo (Ranger Distress Ink), and the bg was stamped with Stampin' UP!'s bg Sanded. The stars are Cuttlebug dies, and I punched the corners with a Marvy corner punch.

Let the Earth Rejoice!!

What a fun challenge Julia provided for the Ways To Use It Challenge on SCS today. We were to use all white card stock. This card came together pretty easily since I didn't need to decide what colors to use. I just used Fiskar Border Punches, the Labels IV and Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders) and the new Impressabilities Flowers (Spellbinders). You can't see it very well in the photo. It's very subtle on the scalloped layer. I also used my Scor-Pal to create the diamond embossed bg.

The sentiment is from the Verve set Everlasting Life. I love the way Julee mixes Fonts and letter sizes in her sentiments. Finally, I added Ribbon and pearls for a little extra.

That about sums up this simple card.

Giving Shelter

Rox has provided another fabulous sketch on SCS today. Click HERE to see the challenge. I just received this sweet Giving Shelter image (Rachelle Ann Miller - Stampavie) the other day, and thought it would fit great with this sketch. The paper is Girl Friday (Cosmo Cricket), with the matting being Neenah Natural White and Kraft (Prismatic). The image is colored with copics and has a touch of sparkle that I added with my Quickie Glue Pen, and Ultrafine Transparent Glitter (Judikins). The shape was created by using the new Octagon Nestabilities (Spellbinders). I also papertoled the flower with 5 layers. I love the depth papertoling gives.

I used Brushed Corduroy (Ranger Distress Ink) to stamp the sentiment that I created with my Harmony Rectangular Stamper and the 50 pt Times New Roman lowercase font. Before ya say anythin', I realize I forgot the apostrophe between the *i* and *m*. It's there now, I just didn't feel like photographing and editing again. Especially since I had to charge my camera battery. Of course, I didn't figure that out until I had taken just one photo. (patience is not one of my virtues)

The braided twine Ribbon, and Rose Sheer Ribbon are May arts. I hand sewed the zigzag portions with twine, and ink distressed all the edges with Brushed Corduroy (Ranger Distress Ink). And finally, the Soft Pink Rhinestones are Kaisercraft.

I just adore these papers by Making Memories' Flower Patch line. I thought they would be perfect for a baby card. These papers, paired with this sweet sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs April Release "Children of God", and Jen's fabulous sketch found HERE, are a fabulous combination imho.

Today's card was made for the monthly Dirty Dozen Alumni Challenge over on SCS. Here are the rules we were to follow:

Challenge Focus: Create a Mother's Day or Father's Day card or gift. (This could be for your Mom or Dad or a grandparent or aunt ot uncle or even just for a good friend you might want to acknowledge with a little favortism on one of these days.)

Required Element: Personal Favorites - incoporate your current FAVE (could be stamp set, technique, color combo or embellishment) and an all-time FAVE that you seem to always fall back on (stamp set or technique or color combo or embellishment) and tell us about them.

Restricted Element: No work involved. - meaning this should be for fun and not fullfill any DT requirements or promote any companies you might owe a little favor to or anything like that. YKWIM. Take some time to just stamp for joy!

My new favorite is the Octagon Nestabilities Shapes by Spellbinders. I gravitate to that shape more often. I also love the new fiskars border punches. LOVE punches!! My all-time fave, of course, is ink distressing. No surprise there. So I incorporated that technique also.

Now we were also to make sure that our card or project was not for any DT requirement. So, I used some new Stampin' UP! images and paper. So, here it is...my DDA Favorite Project.

Faith, Hope and Love

Is it really Monday already?!?! Wow, did this weekend fly by. Well, it's time again for my weekly CCEE challenge then. This week, Cindy Haffner provided us with a sketch that you can see below.

The sentiment image I used is from one of Our Daily Bread Designs April release sets called "Love". I flipped the sketch upside down, and used Scor-tape to add glitter to the border, oval scallop and the butterfly. I just put the tape over black cardstock and punched out the shapes. I then peeled off the protective coating, sprinkled black glitter over top, and rubbed the glitter in with my finger. I think I got a bit carried away with the bling on this one, but I'm happy with the end result.

3x3 Notes sets for a Verve Challenge

First off, I have to apologize for the inconsistency of the photos. I'm learning how to use photoshop and it's going to take some time for me to figure it all out. Thanks for your patience.

Now, for the project. Have you ever had one of those projects where everything just flowed? Well, that's how I felt about this 3x3 note set. When I saw Julee's Verve Release Week Challenges I thought it would be fun to participate. I purchased last month's bundle and haven't had a chance to use them until now. And what a treat it was to work with these gorgeous images. I'm a HUGE fan of Verve Stamps. For this month's release, Julee is offering stampers a chance to win a $30 gift certificate, and two will win a $54 in value New Release Bundle. How cool is that?!?!

I decided to make 3x3 notecards using Julee's sketches and color challenge. Laurie (a dear friend of mine) designed a fabulous little box for 3x3 notecards. You can find the tutorial on her blog, Just Give Me Stamps, HERE. These little guys are so much fun to make, and they worked beautifully with Julee's sketches.

Here's the card for Julee's Sketch #1:

The flowers and pot were colored with copics, the butterfly (Martha Stewart) is punched vellum that I colored with a copic and coated with ultratransparent glitter. The little tabs were punched with the Stampin' UP! Horizontal Slot punch. The little rhinestones on the flowers are Multicolored Mini Rhinestones (Zva Creations).

The flowers were colored with copics, and are raised with dimensional tape. Again, I used the Multicolored mini rhinestones that Michelle now carries at Stamper's Dream, to add a bit of bling.

Again the images are all colored with copics with a touch of glitter added.

All Wrapped up

I love playing with new paper!! I wanted to try a slightly bolder color palette since I tend to lean toward greens lately, so I chose this fun yellow and red combo from the Everafter line by Cosmo Cricket and matted it with Birchtone Dark (Prismatics). I used Neenah Natural White for the card base, and ink distressed all the edges with Old Paper (Ranger Distress Ink).

I love how versatile the All Wrapped Up set by Flourishes is. These packages can be used for birthdays or Christmas, or even just a thoughtful gift for a friend. I stamped the stack of packages twice with Tuxedo Black (Memento), colored with copics, and added a touch of glitter and dimension. The filigree brads are by Stampin' Up, and their centers are Candy Dots (Pebbles, Inc.). The grosgrain ribbon is Lemon Tart by Papertrey Ink, and the photo corner was cut with a decorative scissors.


edit to add: I used the edge of the Provincial decorative scissors by Fiskars for the photo corner.

Scrap Happy while sewing a wavy border

It's time again for my weekly CCEE challenge. This week Cindy Haffner picked Scrapgirl as our CNFS (Catchy Name Featured Stamper) from SCS for us to make a card for. We were challenged to make a card with a girl image and scraps.

I thought it would be fun to sew my scraps together and thought the new Wavy border punch by EK success would be fun to use. The border shape and the holes make it easy to sew together. I just lined up the waves, linking them, glued them to the Papaya Puree Light cs, pierced the holes and hand sewed with embroidery floss. I love the look and feel of the finished panel. (All the edges of the panels were ink distressed with Old Paper before assembling.)

I chose this darling Sarah Kay Image called Precious Moments, stamped it with Tuxedo Black (Memento) onto Simply Smooth cs (Prism), and colored it with copics. I gave it some dimension with layers and dimensional tape.

I made the sentiment Medallion with the Times Roman 25pt upper and Lowercase fonts. I then used the Long Rectangles (Nestabilities - Spellbinders) to frame my image, and the circle and circle Scallops (Nestabilities - Spellbinders) for the medallion. The flower was made with Martha Stewart and Carl CarlaCraft punches. The flower center is a Black Pearl (Kaisercraft).

Camping entertainment

Aren't these guys just the cutest? I don't have a card to share with you today. It seems my mojo stayed on vacation. So not fair. I might as well as stayed on vacation too then...*grin* I just had to share these three photos of the entertainment for the few days we were camping. These guys are everywhere and boy do they make sure you know they're there too. They have LUNGS!! *grin*


Here's the final photo. I got such a kick outta that front little guy. He kept poking his head through the picnic table hole...too cute!

Blessed!!!

I truly feel God has blessed me in so many ways, and count my blessings regularly. We just got back from a 3 day camping trip, which always reminds me of God's creativity and power. We were surrounded by gorgeous red-headed woodpeckers, wild turkeys, and mule deer. We had a fabulous rain storm one day, and gorgeous blue skies another. Wild flowers were everywhere, and we had just the right amount of relaxation.

This Verse, I John 3:1, from the Our Daily Bread Children of God set, just spoke to me when I got home. I'm always amazed that God chose me to be one of His. Always!! So I got right to work in making a card.
I love Memory Box papers. So I thought I'd pair these soft colors from the Sweetbay set with this I John 3:1 sentiment. The edges were all ink distressed with Frayed Burlap (Ranger Distress Ink), and I sewed around them too. The button is from My Mind's Eye, and the swirls are Stampin' UP! diecuts. The cross charm is from Blue Moon that I purchased at Michaels, the ribbon is Papertrey, and the border is from a Martha Stewart Punch.

Black Lace

I'm not sure what I really think about this card as a whole, but I do know I LOVE my new toys. The floral bg was made with a new product by Spellbinders called Impressabilities Flowers. You just run it through whatever diecut machine you may have (I use a cuttlebug), and use the plates you would use to emboss. I used it on Core'dinations paper (black on one side and a color on the other), and then sanded it with a sanding block. It really made the embossed portion pop!! The lacy border was made with a Martha Stewart border punch.

Now, my center panel was made with a new Spellbinder die Octagon shape. I ran two sizes through my cuttlebug together to get the embossed center . The sentiment was created by using my Harmony Rectangular Stamper with the 50pt Trompe Script Uppercase Font, and the 15pt Times Roman Font (JustRite). The only ink used was Tuxedo Black (Memento). The circle was also cut with the Circle Nestabilties.

The flowers and leaves were made with various punches: Martha Stewart, Punch Bunch, Carl CarlaCraft, and the Pearls are Kaisercraft. The Tiny Twinkles are from Taylored Expressions.

CCEE Supplies Challenge by Cindy H.

Cindy Haffner is in charge of the CCEE challenges this month and has some wonderful challenges planned out. For this week's challenge, she sent all the CCEE Stampers cupcake & Bunny cupcake images from Stamps & Smiles. She also sent each of us 2 pieces of DCWV designer paper from the Sweet Stack. We were instructed to use 1 or both of the designer papers along with any of the images/sentiments she sent us to create our cards.

For my card, I started off by coloring my image with copics. I then cut and embossed it with my new Labels III Nestabilities (Spellbinders). Michelle, at Stamper's Dream, has all the new Spellbinders dies!! Click HERE to see all the new fun shapes!

I then added some Ultrafine Transparent Glitter. I added some to the flower I made with various punches too. The border was made by taking Scor-Pal Double Sided Adhesive, (Sweet stuff I tell ya...you can tear it with your fingers. No scissors needed.) adhearing it to some white cs, and then punching the border. I then peeled off the tape, sprinkled the Glitter over it and rubbed it in with my finger. The dp had some sparkle to it, so I thought I'd carry it throughout the rest of the card.

I have the honor of being a guest designer for Our Daily Bread for the next two months, and I couldn't wait to make an all white card with one of their new releases I Corinthians 13: 4-8.

I love the sketch that Rox put up on SCS yesterday, and thought it lent itself really well to a gate-fold card. So, I took an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of white Prismatic cardstock, scored it 2 1/8" inches in on both of the longest sides, ran it through my cuttlebug with the Birds and Swirls Embossing folder, and added the front panel that I cut with the curvy rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), edged with an 18kt gold leafing pen. The inside corners were punched with a Marvy corner punch.

The butterflies were punched out of a Textile (Cuttlebug) embossed piece of white Prism cs, and the flower was made with punches by Martha Stewart and Carl CarlaCraft.

A Perfect Day for a Sketch

I made this card today for SCS's Sketch found HERE. As soon as I got my hands on the set Beauty Stems From Here (Inkadinkado), I knew these leaves would be fun to paper tole. They, along with the butterfly from the Patterned Birds & Bugs set (Inkadinkado), are colored with copics and popped up with dimensional tape. I added a touch of glitter too. The sentiment is from the Elisabeth Bell Accessories and Sentiments Collection.

How To Train a Husband...

I have a nephew who's getting married in a couple of months, and he and I have given each other a hard time for as long as I can remember. So, I thought I'd make a special little gift to give to his fiance next week at her bridal shower: How to Train a Husband

For the headings on each page, I used a product that I definitely could not live without. It's my *go to* for many projects. I used the JustRite Harmony Rectangular Stamper, and my NEW JustRite Vertical Stamper! There are no limits with these babies. Especially if you have the Upper and Lower case fonts. I used the Brayton, Trompe Script Uppercase and Lowercase, and the Times New Roman Uppercase Fonts. (I had to trim the lowercase Trompe Script a bit to get the letters closer, but it was really easy to do.)

Each *chipboard page* was decorated with Spriograph dp (Kaisercraft) and Iced, Frosted or Intense Teal, Intense Kiwi, Blush Red Dark, or Baby Blue Light (Prismatics).

The journaled tabs were all computer generated and included below is a picture with the tab inside and outside, and what's written on it.

I also used a variety of Nestabilities for each page: Labels I, Long Rectangles, Oval, Heart, Labels II, Curved Rectangles, and Circles.

The tab says: If he leaves the toothpaste cap off, or doesn't squeeze the tube right, soak the bristles in liquid soap. He'll never forget again.

The tab says: Cook only 2-3 times a week. That way he'll appreciate it more when you do cook.

The tab says: Do not wash your hair or put on make-up for a whole week. He might as well get used to see the "real" you right off.

The tab says: Don't wash inside out socks. When he runs out, he'll get the picture.

The tab says: If he leaves the toilet seat up, feed him laxatives with a snack right before bed. Make sure the toilet seat is up. Need I say more?

Now, I haven't tried any of these husband training remedies. But if any of you do, let me know how it works....*grin*
