Creative + Curious Big Sexy Leaves ~ Power Poppy

Hello my creative friends!!  I am so sorry for the long absence.  I was busy with a lot of "life" things, and I've been working on some projects for this new Power Poppy release Creative + Curious Collection.  There are literally 11 new Power Poppy sets being released, some sets even have coordinating dies too!  And peeps...as always, Marcella has pulled out all the stops.

http://powerpoppy.com/products/big-sexy-leaves

I'm featuring the stamp Big Sexy Leaves.  This baby is a 6 x 6 Background stamp that is so versatile and complimentary to other sets that I have used it for 3 different projects for this release.  I can't wait to show you how I combined it with a gorgeous new floral set on the 20th.  And be sure to stop by on the 19th to see how I used a fun technique with Alcohol inks.

Today, I stamped it onto Canson Pastel paper and watercolored it.  I'm not very comfortable with watercoloring, but I wanted to try a rustic background with these stunning leaves and showcase their diversity.  I layered the sentiment "hello" 6 times using the Power using the Loving Tulips Coordinating die.  I think the dimension adds a bit of fun.  The sentiment is a sneak peek from a set, called Always Here, that is going to be featured on the 18th.

Do you see the little heart on the sentiment flag?  That's the inside piece to a heart from the Loving Tulips Coordinating die set.  I just colored it with my Krylon gold leafing pen.  I thought it added a nice little "punch".

That sums up my project for today.  Now, if you haven't already, check out what the rest of the Bloom Brigade has to share with you today.  These gals will knock your socks off with their creativity, and I'm not even a little bit kidding!

...room in my heart ~ Unity/Misti Blog Hop

Hello creative friends!!  Unity Stamps is doing a joint blog hop with My Sweet Petunia, and I am so honored to have the privilege  of joining these talented paper artists!  I have two cards, to share with you today, that I made using some charming Unity Stamps along with the "must have" Misti!!!  Seriously!!  I could not have made my second card without it!!

First of all, I'd like to share a sweet little watercolor card I made using Unity's "...room in my heart" stamp set.  Isn't this young woman and her baby just precious?!?!

I started by laying a 4'x5" piece of watercolor paper in my Misti, lined up the image where I wanted and stamped it using Onxy Black Versafine Ink.  I left the stamp adhered to the Misti and left the stamped paper in place while watercoloring the image using Gansai Tambi Watercolors.  I then reinked the image and stamped over the colored image to make the lines bolder.  I can honestly say, that without the Misti, I would never be able to line up the image perfectly a second time.

I added a sweet little sentiment, that comes with this set, to the inside.

Now, for my second card.  I really had some fun with this one.  And once again, the Misti was a lifesaver!!    Let me tell you, Unity Red Rubber Stamps and the Misti are a dream team!!

I started by stamping this darling snail/mushroom image, from Unity's Happy Snail Mail set, 6 times onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored the portions of the image that were going to be visible and started cutting out the layers so I could pop up each one for dimension.

Even a few of the stitched clouds (die by Lawn Fawn) are cut out and burnished to give them some extra depth too.

Below you can really see the dimension.

Now, the sentiment flag was a little tricky.  I wanted to use a new stitched label die I had just purchased from Pretty Pink Posh, but it was solid.  Unity Stamps are Red Rubber, so therefore not see-through, making it a challenge to line up perfectly.  Not with the Misti though.  They work together like they were just meant to be.  Let me explain how:

I started by diecutting the flag banner out of a piece of copy paper.  I laid it in my Misti just like you see below.

I then took the "...happy snail mail" sentiment "Just a Note" and laid it exactly where I wanted it to be, in the flag, and closed the lid, therefore adhering it to the other side. (oh....don't forget to take the foam mat out of the Misti when working with your Unity stamps.  They already are mounted onto foam, so the Misti won't close properly if you leave it inside.

I then diecut the flag out of a piece of cardstock and laid it in the negative space of the copy paper.

Lastly, I inked up the sentiment, closed the Misti and voila...a perfectly lined up sentiment!!  It couldn't work any more smoothly!!!

Would you like to win one of 3 Unity Prize packs and winner's choice of an Original or Mini Misti? All you have to do is leave a comment on each blog and you will be entered into the drawing.  You have until noon (central time) on May 30 to comment, and the winners will be posted on both the Unity Blog and the My Sweet Petunia blog on May 31st.

That's it for my projects today.  But don't stop here.  There is a ton of more inspiration to be seen.    Next on the hop is Kris Lancaster.  I've also included a complete list of all the hoppers today:

CopicsMushroom ~ BG07, BG05, BG02, BG01, YG11, YG09, YG06 Snail ~ R08, R05, R22, R21, R11, R00, YR68, YR65, YR61, Y38, Y17, Y15, Y13, Y11 Heart ~ R08, R05, R22

Watercolored Magnolias ~ Power Poppy

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/2016/05/power-spark-challenge-may-flowers.html
Hello my creative friends!!  I've been absent for awhile, but am excited to share my latest Power Poppy card with you!  This month, Katie has challenged us to pick our favorite Power Poppy flower for the Power and Spark Challenge.  Well, that is next to impossible with all the great images Marcy has designed.  Seriously!!  So, I decided to color the Magnolia branch from the Planning for Magnolias set.  I love this image, and thought it would be fun to watercolor it after being embossed with white ep on watercolor paper.  I love how it turned out. I used Gansai Tambi Watercolors by Kurtake.  I'll list the numbers I used below.

The sentiment is from the Clear set called Olive and Oak Expanded Stamp Set.

Here's a close up so you can see the pearl effect.  The Tambi's have metallics included and they really add a fun punch to the image.

Watercolor numbersMagnolias ~ 31, 32, 95 Stems ~ 47, 46, 95 Leaves ~ 51, 95 Background ~ 40, 33

That's it for my project today.  Be sure to check out the following Bloom Brigade blogs for some more incredible inspiration!
Thank you so much for visiting today!  I hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend!

   Happy Stamping!

Stretch Yourself with a Power Poppy Power and Spark Challenge!!

Hello everyone!!  Today I'm sharing my first project of the New Year, and it's for the Power and Spark Challenge over on the Power Poppy Blog.  I have the honor of hosting it this month, and I inadvertently pushed myself right out of my box.

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/
First of all, let me tell you about the challenge.  The New Year is a time to start fresh, and often we challenge ourselves with resolutions.  Those can be tall orders for some of us depending on the goals we set.  So, for today's Power and Spark Challenge, I'd like you to Stretch yourself and create a "Tall" card, while using something "new-to-you" on it.  It could be a technique, a stamp, some paper, or dies...whatever you can come up with.

Awhile back I found a watercolor video tutorial by Jennifer McGuire using the Gansai Tambi Watercolor set.  Now, I've never colored with watercolors before,  (I've used Tombow markers, but never actual watercolors.) and Jennifer explains her technique so well.  These watercolors are pure creamy goodness and so easy to work with, especially the way Jennifer explains it.

I started by stamping Power Poppy's Potted Primroses, with Versamark, onto Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock like Jennifer suggests.   I then heat embossed them with Super Fine Detail Black Embossing Powder (Ranger).  After watercoloring them, I fussy-cut them out and diecut them using the Stitched Rounded Rectangle (Die-Namics) so they would fit perfectly on another piece of watercolor paper that I diecut with the same die.  I also colored a couple of "lone" primroses and adhered them along with some vellum cut Feathers (Spellbinders).

I thought the sentiments from the Good Thinking Renewal (Power Poppy) set fit perfectly for the start of a New Year, so I added one to the top, and one to a tag.  I also added some flags using the Stitched Fishtail Flag die (Die-Namics), and a cut-out panel using Stitched Basic Edges (Die-Namics).  Everything listed, as well as the paper (Wish Seasons by Fancy Pants) is new to me, and was fun to put all together.

That's it for my project.  For some more inspiration, check out my fellow Bloom Brigaders.  These gals have some serious skilz!!!
Thank you so very much for stopping by!  I hope you'll find time to play along with our Power and Spark Challenge this month.

Happy Stamping!
