Acorn Ornaments digi ~ Power Poppy

http://powerpoppy.com/products/acorn-ornaments
Okay, some of you may be shocked!!  I'm posting a card two days in a row, and it's not even for a Clear Stamps set release.  Crazy!!  Since today is the 5th of November, Power Poppy has a new digital stamp set for y'all!!  It's called Acorn Ornaments, and they are quite the vintage delight!!

Now,  I LOVE acorns.  I have sparkly acorns, felted acorns, glass acorns, and even a few acorn ornaments myself.  I have a few pictures to share at the end of this post.  But first, about today's project.

I mixed some modern papers with some vintage ornaments.  Hope you don't mind.  I also played around with the colors.  I actually have a couple of turquoise glass acorns with copper tops.  They were the inspiration for these ornaments today.  Unfortunately, I used them to decorate an event at our church, and they're packed away right now, so they weren't easily accessible to photograph.

I just received some fun supplies the other day, and included was this mini-clipboard by Fancypants.  It was the perfect size and I thought fit the style I was going for beautifully.  The hardware was easily removed and added again once I decorated it with some charming Perfectly Plaid paper by Lawn Fawn.

For the far right acorn, I tried a technique I found on Pinterest to give it an aged copper look.  It's a tutorial by Copic in the Craftroom.  I need some more practice, but I don't think it turned out too badly for my first time.

I printed the sentiment on a piece of decorated paper, diecut it, and added it to the clipboard along with some enamel dots and ribbon.  That was it.  Today's project only took me 2 hours to color, design, and put together.  That is quite a feat for me, let me tell you!

Here's a list of all the Copics I used:
Copics:  BG49, BG57, BG45, BG70, E09, E39, E97, E95, BG99, Y28, YR23, Y15, Y11,W8, W6, W4, W2, W00

Here are a few pictures of acorns that I have out on display right now.  The two glass acorns below are displayed on a tray with a fun pumpkin that actually lights up.  There are a few painted wooden acorns laying on the tray too.

I love all things felted.  So, of course I needed some felted acorns right?  These babies are on display in a fun twig nest.

And lastly, this ornament is laying at the base of my vintage tree collage.  I leave it up and decorated year round.  This guy is just way too big for my 2 1/2 ft tree, so he's gracing the bottom along with a crown and some other vintage goodies.

That's it for me today y'all.  Be sure to stop by the Power Poppy Blog for a list of all the gals sharing their acorn projects today.   I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

  Happy Stamping!!

Fully Stocked ~ Power Poppy's Happiest Holiday Collection

http://powerpoppy.com/products/fully-stocked
Hello creative friends!!  Have you been enjoying the peeks?  Are you ready to be enabled some more?  The set we are featuring today is called Fully Stocked, and it is an absolute delight!!  3 charming stuffed stockings, beautifully fonted sentiments, and sweet little extra embellies!!

I chose the one that looked vintage to me, and colored it with warm neutrals with a hint of color.   I wanted the focus to be the taupe and pink with a splash of sparkle.   I also embossed a mini-white bag to hold a sweet little tag with a holiday sentiment stamped on it.

That's it for my project.  Be sure to stop by the following Bloom Brigaders for some more inspiration:

Thanks so much for dropping by y'all!!  Be sure to visit tomorrow for our last peek before the Power Poppy Release day hop.

  Happy Stamping!

Watercolored Magnolias ~ Power Poppy

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/2016/05/power-spark-challenge-may-flowers.html
Hello my creative friends!!  I've been absent for awhile, but am excited to share my latest Power Poppy card with you!  This month, Katie has challenged us to pick our favorite Power Poppy flower for the Power and Spark Challenge.  Well, that is next to impossible with all the great images Marcy has designed.  Seriously!!  So, I decided to color the Magnolia branch from the Planning for Magnolias set.  I love this image, and thought it would be fun to watercolor it after being embossed with white ep on watercolor paper.  I love how it turned out. I used Gansai Tambi Watercolors by Kurtake.  I'll list the numbers I used below.

The sentiment is from the Clear set called Olive and Oak Expanded Stamp Set.

Here's a close up so you can see the pearl effect.  The Tambi's have metallics included and they really add a fun punch to the image.

Watercolor numbersMagnolias ~ 31, 32, 95 Stems ~ 47, 46, 95 Leaves ~ 51, 95 Background ~ 40, 33

That's it for my project today.  Be sure to check out the following Bloom Brigade blogs for some more incredible inspiration!

Stretch Yourself with a Power Poppy Power and Spark Challenge!!

Hello everyone!!  Today I'm sharing my first project of the New Year, and it's for the Power and Spark Challenge over on the Power Poppy Blog.  I have the honor of hosting it this month, and I inadvertently pushed myself right out of my box.

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/
First of all, let me tell you about the challenge.  The New Year is a time to start fresh, and often we challenge ourselves with resolutions.  Those can be tall orders for some of us depending on the goals we set.  So, for today's Power and Spark Challenge, I'd like you to Stretch yourself and create a "Tall" card, while using something "new-to-you" on it.  It could be a technique, a stamp, some paper, or dies...whatever you can come up with.

Awhile back I found a watercolor video tutorial by Jennifer McGuire using the Gansai Tambi Watercolor set.  Now, I've never colored with watercolors before,  (I've used Tombow markers, but never actual watercolors.) and Jennifer explains her technique so well.  These watercolors are pure creamy goodness and so easy to work with, especially the way Jennifer explains it.

I started by stamping Power Poppy's Potted Primroses, with Versamark, onto Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock like Jennifer suggests.   I then heat embossed them with Super Fine Detail Black Embossing Powder (Ranger).  After watercoloring them, I fussy-cut them out and diecut them using the Stitched Rounded Rectangle (Die-Namics) so they would fit perfectly on another piece of watercolor paper that I diecut with the same die.  I also colored a couple of "lone" primroses and adhered them along with some vellum cut Feathers (Spellbinders).

I thought the sentiments from the Good Thinking Renewal (Power Poppy) set fit perfectly for the start of a New Year, so I added one to the top, and one to a tag.  I also added some flags using the Stitched Fishtail Flag die (Die-Namics), and a cut-out panel using Stitched Basic Edges (Die-Namics).  Everything listed, as well as the paper (Wish Seasons by Fancy Pants) is new to me, and was fun to put all together.

That's it for my project.  For some more inspiration, check out my fellow Bloom Brigaders.  These gals have some serious skilz!!!
Thank you so very much for stopping by!  I hope you'll find time to play along with our Power and Spark Challenge this month.

Happy Stamping!

I chose to use the set The Light of Life.  I fell in love with the lantern image the minute I laid eyes on it.  It's so rustic and charming.  I stamped it with Versamark onto watercolor paper, embossed it with black embossing powder and colored it with Tombow markers.

I used a new Spellbinders die set called A2 Curved Borders one and completely cut away the edges of the front panel of the card.  I hope you can see it better opened a bit.   I then used a couple of EK Success Border punches for the top and sewed in some burlap string.

That's it for me.  Now just hop along because you won't want to miss all the inspiration these gals have for you today.
