Power Poppy ~ Heaven and Nature Sing

http://powerpoppy.com/products/heaven-and-nature-sing
Okay...Sparkle alert y'all!!  I'm just giving you a heads up before I describe the card I made featuring one of Power Poppy's soon to be released (like, tomorrow soon) sets called Heaven and Nature Sing.  I actually used 4 images from this set to make this card.  My coloring aside...aren't the birds and flowers just stunning?  The details....*sigh*....are like none other.  And they are a dream to color.  Oh...the possibilities.  I even had a hard time deciding what colors to use on the birds.  I originally colored them red/yellow and orange, but decided they looked too tropical for a Christmas card....well, unless you were going to spend Christmas someplace like Hawaii anyway.

So, I used a variety of Copics to color my birds, as well as a white Sharpie pen to give the feathers and flower centers some highlights.    I framed them with a couple of dies from two Spellbinders sets:  Majestic Labels 25 and Opulent Ovals.  I ran the Majestic frame and center through my Xyron 900 machine and burnished some Prisma Glitter (Hero Arts) on the frame, and some Transparent Micro Fine Cool Highlight Glitter (Glitter Ritz) on the center with the sentiment.  The Opulent Oval frame was inked with Versamark, and then heat embossed using some Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel (Stampendous).

Below is a close-up picture of the birds, sparkle and embossing.

Okay, that sums up today's project.  I have a CAS card to share with you for the release tomorrow.  Yep, it's true, the sets we've been featuring will be available for purchase tomorrow.

Before you go though, be sure you haven't missed an inspirational stop.  Here are the links the the Bloom Brigade gals who have projects to share today:

Power Poppy Preview ~ Merry Littles

http://powerpoppy.com/products/merry-littles

Hello stamping friends!!  We are featuring the cutest set of "Little" images and they are so much fun to work with.  I needed two little gift bags for a couple of friends of mine, and thought it would be fun to make little "tag pockets" on the front instead of hanging tags from the handles.  And this set:  Merry Littles, has the perfect images for such pockets and tags.

For my first pocket, I colored the "Little" poinsettia with Copics and popped up the center of it to give it dimension.  I stamped the sentiment, "be Merry" with Smokey Gray Versafine.

For the tag inside, I inked up the pinecone branch with Pistachio, Olive Grove and Rich Cocoa Memento Inks.  "Peace on Earth" is from the set "Oh Holy Night" and was stamped with Smokey Gray Versafine.

For my second gift bag, I only used stamps on the inside tag.  All the rest was made with decorative papers.

I stamped the sentiment "Good Cheer" with Gray Flannel Memento Ink and colored the berries and holly leaf with Copics.  The tree was stamped with Old Olive, Rich Cocoa and Toffee Crunch Memento Inks.

That's it for my projects today.  Be sure to stop by the following Bloom Brigade Blogs for some more Inspiration:

Don't make me tell Santa....

For my Power Poppy Post, click HERE

Waltzingmouse's newest sets are now available for purchase!!  Woo-Hoo!!  If you've arrived here from  Karin's inspirational blog, you're on the right track.  If not, start off at the Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog for a list of everyone hopping today, and to find out how you could win some Waltzingmouse stamps.

To tempt you once more, I have a card, to share, that I made using the Elf Made set.  Isn't this little guy just darling?  And with the sentiment, the candy cane seems like a sweet little threat...*wink*  I paper pieced everything except the candy cane, his stockings, face and hair.  It was a fun little project that took some time with fussy cutting, but I love the overall look.  The large red candy in the background was masked and stamped over a few times to create that striking red backdrop to that charming little elf.

Don't you just love that sentiment:  "Don't make me tell Santa"...it's just too cute and fun.

That about sums up my project.  Next you'll want to stop by the lovely and talented, Becca's blog.

      Happy Stamping!

Power Poppy Preview ~ Bough Wow Wow

For my Waltzingmouse post, click HERE.

Hello Power Poppy Peeps!!  It's that time again!!  Time to share some peeks of Marcella's newest designs: the Happiest Holiday Collection - Part 2... And let me tell you....they....are....GORGEOUS!!!  Today we're featuring an elegant and charming set that is full of dainty details.  It's called Bough Wow Wow.  Isn't that just too clever?!?!

I've decorated my Christmas tree with a red/white/silver theme the past few years, so I tend to lean toward that with ornaments; thus the red/white colors.  The image is colored with Copics, and the berries are decorated with some glitter.  Lastly I added some Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh), some burlap string, and a little Sparklet (Kaisercraft) in the center.

I popped up some holly, as well as one of the ornaments that surround the frame.  Here's a close up so you can see the sparkle and dimension.

That's my project for today.  Be sure to stop by some the following Bloom Brigade Blogs for some more inspiration.

Elf Made...

Hello!!  I have another Waltzingmouse project to share with you today, and it features a new set called Elf Made.  This set has so many "tag making" features, that I just had to focus on a tag.  I will share my coordinating card tomorrow....RELEASE DAY!!!

I used 6 different stamped images for this Waltzingmouse tag:  No peeking, certified form, red "Passed" circle, elf made, #3, and 2014.  The tag was die cut using the largest Stitched Tags Die (WMS), and the bag was made using a Gift Bag Punch Board (We R Memory Keepers).

That's it for today's project.  Be sure to stop by tomorrow for some more inspiration...and to see the coordinating card to this gift bag.  I did a lot of paper piecing and loved how it turned out.

Here are the links to the other WMS design team members who have projects to share today.
Be sure to stop by the WMS Blog (Claire) for details on how you can win some Waltzingmouse stamps too!!

Thanks for dropping by!

Silver and Gold Flurries

Hello friends!!  Waltzingmouse Stamps will be releasing 3 more sets on Oct. 28, along with 2 new dies.  Now that is exciting news, don't you think?  Two are fun and whimsical, and the first, that we're featuring today, is crisp, clean and modern.  It's called Flurries, and has snowflakes that match last month's released Snowflake dies, along with charming trees and a couple of sweet sentiments.  Once again, it's Claire has designed a beautifully versatile set.

Silver and Gold is quite the rage this year, so I thought I give it a whirl with this set. I embossed the flakes with Gold ep (Ranger), and the trees with Silver ep (Ranger).  I also embossed two of the Snowflake One branches with Gold ep and added a few pink enamel dots (Teresa Collins).  The sentiment was framed and with one of the new dies called Pretty Panel #2.  It has a separate frame that I embossed, once again, with Gold ep.

That's it for today's project.  Be sure to stop by the other Design Team members' blogs for some more peeks.
So glad you dropped by.

    Happy Stamping!

Share what you love

I can hardly believe Friday has rolled around again.  Do you ever notice, that the older you get, the faster the weeks fly by?  Or is it just me.  A week ago feels like yesterday.  It's kind of freaky sometimes.

Well, being that it's Friday, I have a Power Poppy Peeps Challenge card to share with you today.  I've been wanting to color this vegetable image from the Farmer's Market set for quite sometime, and thought it would be fun to use a neutral color scheme.  It's all colored with Copics, and I added a bit of texture with some burlap ribbon, some banners, and wooden and cork dots.

Below is a closer look at the image.  For some reason, my photography muted the colors a bit more, so I'm sorry.  They are a tad more vibrant irl.

Now, others in the Bloom Brigade have some projects they're excited to share too.  So, if you haven't already, check out what they've made today:

In just 4 more days we'll be sharing some sneak peeks of the new Power Poppy Holiday release too.  I hope you'll drop by for a visit.  Once again, Marcella has outdone herself.  These sets are exquisite.

Thanks for dropping by!
   Happy Stamping!

Distress Spray Stain Embossing WMS Pajama Party

It's PJ Party time over at Waltzingmouse stamps, and I've been having a blast with a couple of the challenges!  That's what I love about this party.  Claire comes up with awesome challenges, and a sketch, and it gets the creative juices a flowin'....

For my first card, I decided to try my hand at the Texturise It Challenge.  The challenge is to emboss without an embossing folder.  In fact, I thought it would be fun to use the new Waltzingmouse Folk Art Snowflake die to create my embossed focal point.  Here's a photo tutorial on how I achieved the embossed look.

I LOVE my new Distress Spray Stains (Ranger), and wanted to create a watercolor background with them.  So I took a piece of watercolor paper and spritzed it with water; coating it pretty good.  I then sprayed 4 different stains in this order:  Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and lastly Brushed Pewter.  The background in this photo is an all important tool I use to make sure my spray doesn't get anywhere else except on my paper....that would be a cardboard box.  :)

Next, I wanted the snowflake to be "raised" on the watercolor side, so I placed the Folk Art Snowflake die on the back of my stained paper, laid it on my Spellbinders embsossing mat and ran it through my Grand Calibur.

I love the effect on its own, but I wanted my flake to pop a bit more, so I took a sanding block and sanded the embossed flake while it was still in the die so it kept it's shape.

See how it just pops off the paper now?  And it feels super soft too from the watercolor paper fibers being sanded.  I just want to keep rubbing my fingers over the embossed image because I love the texture so much.

For my card I diecut the image with a Standard Circle die (Spellbinders) and went a step further and added glitter to the whole flake by using a Quickie Glue Pen and some irridescent glitter (Hero Arts).  Lastly, I added another snowflake center using WMS's Snowflake Two die, and again, some glitter and a Rhinestone.  The sentiment is from the set Compliments of the Season Two.

After creating my photo tutorial, I wanted to do something with the Folk Art Flake alone, without the glitter and diecutting, so I created another card. This Folk Art Snowflake has such beautiful details, it deserves to be featured!

For the sentiment strip along the bottom, I used Perfect Pearls and stamped a sentiment from the Seasonal Flourish set over it.  To set it all, I clear embossed over the whole strip.  I LOVE the shiny effect I ended up with.

Okay, the PJ Party has an Old Pajama challenge each month too, and this month the Yonder Star stamp set is being featured.  I thought it would be fun to create a cozy framed piece, by creating a background using the images with a sentiment from this set, and mounting it on a burlap background.

Here you can see the background a bit closer.  It's a challenge to photograph in the shadowbox, but hopefully you can see all the details well enough here.

Okay...if you made it this far, I'm impressed.  This was an incredibly long post...especially for me. But I wanted to share with you how I created my Embossed Snowflake.  It's such a gorgeous die with so many possibilities!!

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for visiting and for all the encouragement you provide.  I love creating and feel blessed to be able to create with Claire's images.  And if I can provide a bit of inspiration, it just warms my heart to the core.

   Happy, Happy Stamping my friends!!
