Waltzingmouse July 2012 Release ~ Day 3

It's our 3rd day of July's Waltzingmouse release, and the set we're previewing is called My Island. And let me tell you, this set has a plethora of possibilities. I went mostly white with my first card. The main panel is actually composed of 5 images. It was a blast layering them. I just framed it with a Spellinders Floral Oval die, and added a sweet little pinwheel. That really isn't there because that set isn't going to be peeked until tomorrow. *wink* The sparkly flourishes in the background are from the set peeked yesterday called North Shore.

Isn't this straw umbrella just charming? Well, we're taking a family vacation to Hawaii this year and will be going on a few excursions. I like to tip our guides if we really enjoy our adventure and I thought it would be nice to include a little Hawaiian thank you card with it. Thus the "Mahalo".

I also made a card with the sentiment "Aloha" for the lady who will be cleaning the condo for us during our stay.

Of course I had to include a signature on the back of my card, and Claire has helped with that with her signature set called Make Your Mark. Love this versatile set. It has a signature for virtually any style needed.

Well, that's it from me today. Tomorrow I have a totally different color palette to share. I hope you'll stop by for a look-see!!

Here's a list of the DT members who are Waltzing today.

Happy Stamping!!

Waltzingmouse July 2012 Release ~ Day 2

It's Day 2 of Waltzingmouse's July Release, and the Design Team is featuring a super cool Summer set called North Shore. I went all CAS (Clean and Simple) with this release because I was having so much fun with distress colors for my backgrounds.

For my first card, I just inked Vintage Cream (PTI) cs with Ranger Distress Colors in this order: Squeezed Lemonade, Rusty Hinge, and Festive Berries. I then stamped the image with Versamark and embossed with Black Embossing powder. So easy, and striking!! It's framed with the Postage Stamps die by Spellbinders.

For my second card, I used a paper mask and inked the background with the following Ranger Distress Colors: Frayed Burlap, Peacock Feathers, Broken China, Faded Jeans, Squeezed Lemonade and Walnut Stain. The sentiment "Find your Wave" is from the North Shore set, and the surf board is from the Free Spirit Waltzingmouse set.

That's it for today.
Here's a list of the WMS DT that's participating today, just in case you might have missed one.

Waltzingmouse July 2012 Release ~ Day 1

It's Day 1 of Waltzingmouse's July Releases, and you are all in for a treat!! Claire has such an eye for detail and what the paper crafter needs in her stamp stash. :)

Today we are featuring the Fairy Princess set. It coordinates beautifully with the Half Pint Heroines set released in May. I chose to combine the sweet little Fairy Princess with a sentiment from the Half Pint Heroines set.

I've included a list of the hoppers, too, in case you've missed a stop along the way.

Happy Stamping!!

One sun kissed day...

Hello my stamping friends!! I have a card to share with you today, that is not my typical style. But I had so much fun making it, and think it "feels" just like I wanted it to. I used this week's Viva la Verve sketch designed by Teresa, and combined it with a couple of Verve images: One Day Plain Jane, Sunny Days, and Joyful Blooms, and the Joyful Blooms die (Verve)

The paper and ticket stickers are all from Simple Stories' 100 Days of Summer line. Way fun!!

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you have a fantastic weekend!! I plan on seeing Brave with one of my dearest friends. Woot!!

Our Daily Bread Designs: For the love of Good Stewards Hop

I have some exciting news to share. I've joined the Our Daily Bread Designs Alumni Team. So twice a month I'll be posting a card with the chosen theme for that week. Woo-Hoo!! I love their scripture verses and images that tie in so beautifully, and the team is fabulously creative and just the sweetest ever. So I'm looking forward to this new adventure!! :)

So, without further ado...Welcome to Our Daily Bread Design's Alumni Team's bi-monthly For the Love Blog Hop. This week the Alumni team along with some of the ODBD designers are featuring a hop For the Love of ODBD Good Steward sets! Check out each link and leave a comment. If you get lost along the way, check the ODBD blog for full list of links. One of the post is a hop hot spot and a name will be drawn from that list of comments to win a $15 ODBD store gift certificate. So, all you have to do is hop along and see all the creations and leave a little love! You have until Wednesday, July 4th at 6 pm. Enjoy all the awesome inspiration using For the Love of ODBD Good Steward sets!

If you've arrived here from Silke's blog, you are on the right track. If not, you'll want to start at the beginning so you don't miss anything. So, head on over to Betty's blog.

So, now for my take on this week's theme.

I have a friend whose son has recently joined the military and could really use some encouragement from home right now. The set Not Forgotten has the most awesome verses that are beautifully fonted. And it also includes this fabulous image. To make it rustic, befitting a military guy, I did a lot of ink and paper distressing and added a couple of aged stars and thick twine.

That's it for me today. Next blog stop: Sabrina

A Flower for my friend...

I made today's card for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. Edna has some fantastically fun sketches to work with, and I had time this week to play around with her charming design using two Waltzingmouse stamp sets: Bitty Banners and Compact Family.

The banners (can you see the little one under the flower), were stamped with Versamark and were embossed with White Embossing powder.

I used a variety of dies also: 2011 Snowflake Pendant (Flower), Standard and Lacey Circles, and Nested Pennants (Spellbinders)

To get the pretty pink and sparkle for the flower, I spritzed plain white cs with Alpine Ice Rose Starburst spray (Lindy's Stamp Gang). I added some Starburst Stickles for some extra sparkle. For the chocolate banner, I spritzed kraft cs with Van Dyke Sepia Moon Shadow Mist (Lindy's Stamp Gang) and a little Alpine Ice Rose, although it's hard to see.

That's it for today. I hope you get to enjoy a nice weekend. I get to spend the day with two dear stamping friends of mine...eating and paper crafting. Two of my absolute favorite things to do. *grin*

Happy Stamping my friends!!

3 Challenge Birthday Card

I'm excited to share this card with ya'll today because I've done something I haven't done in a LONG time. I combined three different challenges. Two are Splitcoaststampers challenges that I haven't participated in for a very long time. I thought it was time to get more involved there since it's such a wonderful community of creative paper crafters, and their challenges are really inspiring.

This card is out of my box for 2 big reasons. One, I don't use bold colors, and two a color challenge is just that for me....a HUGE challenge. These are the three challenges I participated in: WMS Sketch Challenge 101, SCS Color Challenge 379, SCS Technique Challenge 381

I used all Waltingmouse images: Eat Cake (Sentiment), Dainty Doilies ~ Small (for the Half-it technique challenge), and Vintage Labels 5 (for the little tag frame).

That's about it. Be sure to check out all the challenges. They can be quite inspirational!!
Happy Stamping my friends!!

Viva la Verve in June!!

I have the honor of hosting this week's Viva la Verve sketch over in the Verve Forum at Splitcoaststampers.com, and let me tell you, I had so much fun making this card. I hope you're not intimidated by all the layers. They are so fun for combining decorative papers, or layering up an all white card with different shapes. And boy, did I use a plethora of different shapes and embellishments. Pure crafting heaven for me. ;)

I wanted to make one of Verve's new Plain Janes, called Grace, my focal point, and then thought it would be fun to add a sweet little tag using two of Verve's dies: Tiny Sweet Scallop and the small oval from the Charming Ovals set. I added the "thinking of you" sentiment from one of the recently released sets called Joyful Blooms. I thought the fonts and sentiments complimented each other beautifully.

I used a few more dies and fun embellishments too, like a Prima flower that was dusted with some Frosted lace stickles, some Spellbinders die frames, and a gorgeous Filigree Corner embellishment that I got from the fabulously vintage store called The Funky Junkie. Her link is on my sidebar under "shopping".

For the rest of the embellishments and tools, check out the supply list that I always include at the bottom of my post. And be sure to check out the VLV Sketch. If you participate, you have an opportunity to win $100 of Verve images!! Now how can you not join in on the fun when there's free stamps to be had!! Seriously!! ;)

Thanks for visiting and for all your support!! Crafters are some of the most kind people I know!!
Happy Stamping my friends!!

Verve PJ release!!

Julee is releasing two beautifully fonted and encouraging PJ's, and the Divas are all joining together to showcase them today, because they're definitely worthy of a grand showcase!! I chose to use the PJ One Day, and pair it with a sympathy sentiment from the Verve set Small Phrases. I thought they went together beautifully. I also used this week's Mojo Monday Sketch for my inspiration.

A pretty straight card for ya'll today. I'm the last on the hop today, but I've provided the list in case you missed a stop along the way. And remember to comment on each blog to increase your chance of winning a $30 Verve Gift Certificate!! :)

Waltzingmouse Celebrates it's 100th Sketch!!

Howdy ya'll!!! There's quite the celebration goin' on over at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog. They're celebrating their 100th sketch challenge!! How awesome is that!! And Claire is makin' this a bigun'!! There promises to be giveaways and even a guest Mischief Maker spot. Be sure to check out Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog for all the details!! :)

Now for my project, it just so happens one of my nephews is celebrating his birthday today too. So I hauled out my two favorite western sets, Back in the Saddle and Way Out West and got to work. I really like how my tag turned out. The background was stamped with the little circle star and horseshoes, and I even added a pair of boots that I rock-n'-rolled with Iced Spruce (Ranger Distress), and Espresso Truffle (Memento). For the star, I used a scoring technique that I found on pinterest by Tamara. Click HERE for the tutorial (scroll down a bit, it's her second post.)

I also stamped the wood grain, from the Way Out West set, onto the chocolate vertical piece, but it's hard to see in the photo. To age the staples a bit, I just took a Q-tip and rubbed some black Stazon over them.

That about sums it all up. Be sure to stop by the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog to see what the Mischief Makers have been up to, along with some of the WMS DT. It's full of fun inspiration!!

Happy Stamping!!

Graduation Gift Card/Money holders

I needed a few more graduation cards, so I thought I'd make some CAS (clean and simple) gift card holders. These are 2 3/8" x 3 3/4", with a 1" piece folded up on the inside to tuck the gift in. If you're going to put a gift card inside though, make sure the staples are really close to the edge...mine are in too far. Which isn't a big deal since I was going to include cash anyway. I made these the size they are because I have the cutest little envelopes that are 2 1/2" x 4 1/4". These cards fit nicely.

These went together really quickly too. I just stamped the lined paper image, from the Verve set Making a Statement, with Nautical Blue Memento Dye Ink and diecut it with the Rounded Rectangle Die by Verve. The sentiment is from the set Small Celebrations. Lastly, I added a mini-library clip (SU!) and a couple of diecut stars (Spellbinders), and woila. Finished. Wait...I did add a couple of score lines to the top and bottom of the base using my Score-Buddy, and stapled the inside piece.

I had only one girl Graduation card to make this year. Isn't that crazy? Out of 12 graduations, only one girl. WOW! So I decided to make hers different and girly. I used a tutorial that I found on pinterest, by Glenda Calkins, and the little sentiment flag was made using the Verve stamp set Purely Sentimental.

For the inside, I just cut a piece of dp, and punched a border using a Martha Stewart edger punch. I also added a Prima flower, and used some large Magnet discs (Basicgrey) for the top closer which was diecut using the Labels 20 die by Spellbinders.

That's it for today ya'll!! I hope those of you in the states are enjoying Memorial Weekend.
Happy Stamping!!

Life is eternal

It's always hard when a friend is suffering a loss. Especially when they live so far away, and there's very little you can do to help. Thankfully, there is a way to reach across the miles to let them know how much you care and are thinking of them.

I made this card for such a friend. Claire Brennan, owner of Waltzingmouse Stamps, and one of the sweetest ladies I know, recently lost her mother. I lost my mother over 17 years ago, so I understand a bit (even though everyone's loss is different), of the emptiness she must be going through right now.

Anyway, Waltzingmouse stamps has a sentiment for just about any thought you might want to convey, and I thought this sentiment from the Words of Wisdom set was beautiful and so fitting! "Life is eternal and love is immortal and death is only a horizon and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight." R W Raymond

I hope you are having a blessed day!!
Happy Stamping my friends!!

Wedded Bliss Viva la Verve

I've been playing with some more Verve images and decided to participate in this week's Viva la Verve sketch found HERE.

I need a wedding card in a couple of weeks, and thought the images from the Verve set Small Celebrations would look fabulous with the new Indie Chic paper by My Mind's eye. I love the blue/gold combination.

Short and sweet today. Graduations and parties to go to, and my college kids just got home, so lots to do ya'll!!

Have a fantastic weekend!!
Happy Stamping!

Negative Space Card Trio

(Click on the photo to see the sentiments and details better.)

I've been seeing a lot of "negative" space being used on cards lately, with punches or dies, so I thought I'd try my hand at it with some punches and some of my favorite sentiments. Verve is known for having wonderful sentiments with fabulous fonts that always seem to be perfect for the style you're going for. I chose to use a set called Small Phrases. It has 22 phrases. Seriously...22 and they cover the gamut of topics from baby shower to anniversary and birthday, and a variety of "thoughtful" phrases. I used three of them on my "mini set" today.

I love mini cards. They're perfect for tucking in gift packages or lunch boxes, or just leaving on a desk for someone who needs a "pick-me-up". I used three sentiments: "I thought of you today", "you are loved", and "so proud of you". Fabulous little encouragements. These babies are only 2 1/2" x 3 3/4".

For my background, I took a Sizzix embossing folder and only covered half of the card with it. I love how it turned out.

That's it for today.
Sorry I've been MIA for so long. My son graduated from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington this weekend, so we've been getting ready for the trip, and then spent 3 days there this past weekend. I'm just now getting caught up. :)

Thanks for stopping by.
I hope you're having a fantastic week!!
Happy Stamping!!

Waltzingmouse Blog Waltz ~ May Release

Wow! I can't believe it's already release day for the 3 new Waltzingmouse Stamps sets!! If you've arrived her via Anya's blog, you're on the right track. If not, be sure to start at Claire's blog so you don't miss a stop. Also, you have an opportunity to win a stamp set of your choice. All you have to do is leave comments on the blogs along the hop for your chance to win. You have until May 11. Check out Claire's blog for the deadlines.

Now, for my card...today we get to feature any set we'd like, so I chose the Compact Family set because I had a this special gift set in mind for a dear friend.

I love the sentiment " a hug from your..."! It's perfect because you can add whatever you want to the end of it; Friend, Mom, Auntie, Daughter...etc. Obviously I chose friend and framed them with various diecuts. I used Fancy Tags Two, Floral Ovals, Classic Ovals, Wonderful Wings Grand and Labels 9 dies (Spellbinders).

I wanted to add a tag to the bag I made, and thought the Labels 25 die shape (Spellbinders) would make a beautiful tag. And Claire designed the most beautiful image to fit inside it. It's included in the Paris Nouveau set. I included the sentiment "You make me smile with all my heart", from the new Compact Sentiments ~Part 2 set, to the center.

Here's a look at the bag. Now I'm not a sewer, but this was super easy to put together. And I'm happy with how it turned out. I filled it with a huge variety of wrinkled seam binding ribbon and lace. A perfect filler for a vintage inspired bag I thought. :)

That's it for me today. Next stop, the ever inspirational and super sweet Becca.

Thanks for visiting today!!
Happy Stamping!!
