Glitter House Village Gift Card Holder ~ Power Poppy

Hello my creative friends!!!  Have you seen Stacy's Gift Card Holder Tutorial on Day 2 of our Power Poppy 12 Days of Christmas?!?!?  If not, click HERE.  It is so cute, easy, and is the perfect way to package a sweet little gift card.  She inspired me to make mine, but I wanted to make a different shape.  So instead of creating folds, I diecut an extra piece to make the pocket on the inside.  I used Spellbinders' Labels 11 Grand dies for the of this gift card holder.  I wanted to go a bit more graphic, so I used the rays of light from Power Poppy's Glitter House Village set.  I stamped them with Versamark while the cardstock was still in the die, and embossed them with Silver Embossing Powder.  I then added some Silver Moondust Crystal Drops (Nuvo) to fill in the spaces.  The sentiment was stamped with Onyx Black Versafine using my Misti for perfect placement.

For the inside, I diecut another piece using the Grand 11 die diecut an oval, and then embossed it.  I then took some silver cardtock and diecut it also with the Grand Labels 11 die, laid the white diecut piece over it, lined up my oval so I could have a matted edge, and diecut it too.  Lastly, I added a tag on the inside with a sentiment from one of last years Christmas sets called Simple Joys.  It fit perfectly in the Style Nouille Tag frame (Spellbinders).

We'd love to see what you come up with after being inspired by a project from our Power Poppy 12 Days of Christmas.  Just link your project HERE, and you will be entered to win a $50 Power Poppy Shopping Spree.  Easy Peasy, and the prize is fantastic!!

Thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to check out what creative idea Cindy has in store for you on the Power Poppy Blog.  And then, check out Julie and Stacy's blogs for some more Holiday inspiration!

Flourishes November Preview ~ Day 3

SoDistressedGraphicHere we are at our last day of November Sneak Peek Sets! Do you sometimes look at your blank sheet of card stock and think, “I wish there was a way I could warm it up or add some interest or texture without taking anything away from the main image? Or have you been longing to get your fingers inky and dabble in the mixed media craze? Well, we’re ready for you! Introducing...So Distressed

With Mixed Media all the rage, why not add a background set to your bag of creative tricks? This pattern and background set offers all kinds of images that can be used on their own, or as a way to add "texture" to your cards or creations. The options are endless! How about trying to layer these images for even more fun? This set measures 4" by 6".

Oh my did I ever have a ball working with this set.  The possibilities are endless.  Since I still need a bunch of Gift Card Holders, I decided to use this set to make 5 horizontal holders much like the one I posted 2 days ago.  The measurements and score lines are as follows:  4" x 7"
Score at:  2 1/2" and 5".  It's just that easy.  I've included a close up of each card below.  I just used the 3 same inks on all the cards, and added a sentiment on each using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  The sentiments are from the following stamp sets:  Star of Bethlehem, Winter Berries, and Holiday Topiaries

Mystery-Blogger-GraphicOur team loved getting inky with this clever set, so hop on over for some creative inspiration. And, while you’re hopping remember, we have one more day of….

GrabacupGraphicWelcome to our November Sneak Peeks at Flourishes! We’re really excited to show off this month’s sets to you, because we know they’ll be ones you’ll want to use over and over again. Each of them convey a real sense of warmth and will be perfect for any occasion you have with friends and family. Today’s set is one we’ve been anticipating with great excitement because we think it’s fabulous! Introducing….Grab a Cup.

Grab a cup and enjoy, with this sweet-as-can-be coffee and tea inspired set. Use it to send warm thoughts across the miles or to invite a dear friend to share some time over hot drinks. This set, illustrated by Marcella Hawley measures 4" by 6" and offers three main images, four accent images and six mix and match sentiments! It celebrates everything coffee and tea should be! And look at what we’re also offering this month with this set...

I love a good cup of coffee or tea, so I am super excited to be working with this set.  For today, I made a coffee gift card.  I have some friends who "need" their coffee regularly, so I thought a gift card holder would come in handy this holiday season.  There are many gift card holder tutorials out there, so I won't bore you with yet another.  I'll just give you a quick review of what I did for this one in a bit.

I stamped the coffee cup image, three times, with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink;  once onto Cryogen White cs, once onto Flourishes Classic White cs, and once onto Flourishes Classic Kraft cs.  I colored the cup with Copics, as well as the sleeve and logo, and then embossed the sleeve with a Sizzix embossing folder to give it some texture.

Finished Gift Card Holder size:  2 3/4" x 3 1/2"
Cardstock:  2 3/4" x 10"
Score: 3 1/2" and 7"
Punch half circle notch at short end.
Tape or glue sides of short end, fold up and adhere.  (I used 1/8" Scor-tape)

Here's a look at the inside with the gift card included.

The decorative paper I used is Santa's List by Teresa Collins, and the sentiment was stamped with Oasis Green VersaMagic Ink, and Toffee Crunch Memento Ink.

Here are the links to the Copics I used:  C-1, E31, R29, R27, R24, BG15, BG13, and BG11

Graduation Gift Card/Money holders

I needed a few more graduation cards, so I thought I'd make some CAS (clean and simple) gift card holders. These are 2 3/8" x 3 3/4", with a 1" piece folded up on the inside to tuck the gift in. If you're going to put a gift card inside though, make sure the staples are really close to the edge...mine are in too far. Which isn't a big deal since I was going to include cash anyway. I made these the size they are because I have the cutest little envelopes that are 2 1/2" x 4 1/4". These cards fit nicely.

These went together really quickly too. I just stamped the lined paper image, from the Verve set Making a Statement, with Nautical Blue Memento Dye Ink and diecut it with the Rounded Rectangle Die by Verve. The sentiment is from the set Small Celebrations. Lastly, I added a mini-library clip (SU!) and a couple of diecut stars (Spellbinders), and woila. Finished. Wait...I did add a couple of score lines to the top and bottom of the base using my Score-Buddy, and stapled the inside piece.

I had only one girl Graduation card to make this year. Isn't that crazy? Out of 12 graduations, only one girl. WOW! So I decided to make hers different and girly. I used a tutorial that I found on pinterest, by Glenda Calkins, and the little sentiment flag was made using the Verve stamp set Purely Sentimental.

For the inside, I just cut a piece of dp, and punched a border using a Martha Stewart edger punch. I also added a Prima flower, and used some large Magnet discs (Basicgrey) for the top closer which was diecut using the Labels 20 die by Spellbinders.

That's it for today ya'll!! I hope those of you in the states are enjoying Memorial Weekend.
Happy Stamping!!

Waltzingmouse May 2012 Release ~ Day 3

I have a few cards to share with you today for Day 3 of May's Waltzingmouse Stamps release.
First up is a beehive card. I collect bee skeps, and have had a fascination with bees for quite some time. It's been said that it's a miracle that a bee can fly. Because aerodynamically it should be impossible for them to fly with the wings they were given in proportion to their body. But the bee doesn't know that. :)

Anyway, my heart just melted when I saw the sentiment "you're the bee's knees" in this new Compact Sentiments~Part 2 set. I wanted to put a bee skep on my card, so I drew one out and used different dp for each section. Of course there needed to be a bee on the card too, so I added a brad with a bee image on it to the sentiment flag.

(Click on the photo to see the detail in the backgrounds)

I also made some graduation gift cards using an easy tutorial by Laurie Schmidlin. Click HERE for the tutorial. I needed 9 graduation cards this year. Only one of them being for a girl. I'm not finished with that one yet, so I'll have to share it at a later date.

I loved the sweet little "you rock" sentiment from Compact Sentiments~Part 2 set, so I thought it'd be easy and fun to mass produce similar cards with different bg images stamped with the Off Beat Backgrounds and Heirloom Patterns sets. I just diecut a star using a Star die (Spellbinders), and punched out the sentiment using the Word Window punch (SU!).

For the inside I added some sentiments from the Halfpint Heroines set. I thought they'd be perfect for these little gift card holders.

That's it for today's projects. I have saved my favorite for the hop tomorrow. So be sure to stop by again!!

What was I thinking?

Christmas in orange? Don't go there. I was trying to match the jamba juice gift card. And in person, it's really not that bad...I kind of liked it. Well, until I photographed it and began editing. The bird looks like a crow, and the stickles don't show up as much as irl...so it looks more Halloweenish. Sorry. I loved the idea though, and I won't have time to do this later as I have a ton of errands to do. But I wanted to show you this awesome idea that was used for the SCS Technique Challenge found HERE.

For the front of my gift card holder, I used my new Labels I Nestabilities Diecut!! I LOVE this shape...I'm sure you will see me use it often.

I stamped Nature's Dance (Penny Black) with Tuxedo Black (Memento), onto Frosted Orange (Prismatics) I then sponged Dried Marigold (Ranger Distress) all over the panel, embossed it with the Leaf folder, and rubbed Tea Dye (Ranger) over the leaves. I then added Copper Stickles to the berries. The sentiment is from the Clear Design set Thinking of You Messages. I thought the brackets fit perfectly with the Labels I shape. *grin* The sentiment on the inside is Script Merry Christmas (Northwoods)

Be sure to check out the tutorial on SCS...It's so easy and has so many possibilities!!
