Succulents and Butterflies ~ Power Poppy

Hello, hello, hello my friends!!  I'm back with another Power Poppy project and boy was this a fun one.  I love succulents and have quite a few outside my front door.  I love the colors, textures and depth of all the petals, and the fact that some of them even get some sweet little colorful blooms.  When I first saw Power Poppy's Succulent Singles, I knew I wanted to create a little succulent collage, so when I received this fun new Fluttered Fence Idyllics Embossing Folder and and Die set by Tonic, I thought they would be a perfect combination.

I started by stamping each main succulent 5 or 6 times.  I then numbered the petals according to which layer I wanted them so I didn't have to color each image every time.  The largest succulent has 6 layers, the pale one 5 layers, and the other two 4 layers.  Each layer was cut out, burnished (my tutorial can be found HERE) and added with dimensional tape.  I have a close-up below so you can see the individual layers.

The top panel was made with three layers also.  I layered the butterfly diecut over a piece of gingham decorative paper (Love Garden by Fabscraps) after embossing it with the included embossing folder.  I then diecut an extra white piece and hand-cut the butterflies, folded their wings and adhered them in their centers to give them depth.  I also added some Silver Moondust Glitter Drops (Nuvo) to the butterfly centers, as well as a few scattered sequins.

That's it for my project today.  But wait...there's more.....
It's Power Poppy's 3rd Birthday and Marcella really knows how to celebrate.

Dimensional Snowglobe Greetings ~ Power Poppy

Hello everyone!!  It's Friday!!  Woo-Hoo!!  That means the weekend is finally here and all the fun that comes with it.  Are you ready for Christmas?  I'm getting there, and am excited for the kids to come home.

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/search/label/ChallengeBut, in the midst of decorating and present wrapping, I thought I'd make a card for this month's Power Poppy Power and Spark challenge, which is to choose a previous challenge to work with.

I chose November's Embellish This challenge. I've been itching to color the new Snowglobe Greetings digital image because I knew right when I saw it that I wanted to make it dimensional.  I started by coloring 3 images for the inside and layering them using Paper Tole.

For the base, I cut out an extra piece, colored it, put 3 large pop dots behind in the center, glued two cardstock tabs to the side, cut two slits on the outside of the bottom base, slid the tabs through and voila...it looks curved.

I embossed the top panel, glued it to a black frame, attached that to an acetate base and popped it up a bit to fit the dimensional image inside.  So this baby is full of depth, dimension, and textures.  For the snow and Santas hat and cuffs,  I used white Liquid Applique.  I used a brush to spread it on, sprinkled it with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (SU!), and then heated it with my Heat Tool.  I also added glitter to the background and Santa's beard.

That about sums up today's project.  For some more Holiday inspiration, check out the following Bloom Brigaders:

A Cozy Cupful of Sequins

Hello friends!!  I'm sure you're a bit shocked to see a card posted two days in a row without being for a release.  Well, I've been having some fun participating in some Splitcoaststampers challenges this week.  I haven't had much free time in the last year, and now that I have a few days, I thought it would be fun to challenge myself.  So, today, I'm participating in SCS's CAS challenge to use Acetate.  You can find the challenge HERE.

I decided to make a shaker card with a "new to me" die by MFT.  The stamped image is by Power Poppy and is from one of their newest released sets called Cozy Cupfuls.  I colored it with Copics, added some glitter, and used Paper Tole to give it some dimension.

Copics:  Bow Package ~ BG49, BG57, BG10 Red Package ~ R29, R24, R21, G28, G24, YG01 Mug ~ T4, T2, T0, R29

That about sums it all up.  It is supposed to be CAS after all.  :)
Thanks for dropping by!  I hope you're week is off to a great start!

   Happy Stamping!
