Flourishes January Release Preview ~ Day 4

Flourishes-FavoritesWe’re wrapping up our January New Releases at Flourishes and we’ve had a fantastic time showing off these beautiful sets to you this week. Today the Senior Design Team brings you one more round of inspiration using any set from this release that their little hearts desire. We’ve loved the variety this month’s sets have had to offer and we’re looking forward to showing you more!

I chose to use the set Under the Big Top again.  I thought it would be fun to use aqua and red with the elephant this time around.  It's pretty straight forward, no special techniques, so I won't bore you with the minute details.

Flourishes January Release Preview ~ Day 3

WildRosesGraphicWith Valentine’s Day almost upon us we couldn’t miss out on giving you another amazing botanical set for the season, Wild Roses. This stunning set features a wild rose and a theme of "love" - perfect to tell those you cherish just how you feel - all year long!

This set, illustrated by Sam Pickard with sentiments provided by Dina Kowal, measures 4" by 6" and offers three main images, three sentiments and a sentiment background stamp. Today you’ll see some fragrant beauties from our Senior Design Team with this love-themed set.

I decided to make a tag with these flowers because I wanted to try a new technique I found on Pinterest.  The artist's name is Lin, and her blog is called Yours Artfully.  She does wonders with color and textures.

I started off with a 3x5 piece of Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock.  I then took my Burlap stencil, by Tim Holtz, and layered some Steel Ferro (Viva) over it and let it dry.  After that, I put a coat of Black Acrylic paint over it, let it dry and added some Broken China and Brushed Pewter Distress Paints (Tim Holtz) to the entire tag.  I love the aged look it gave.  The flower images were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, and were colored with Copics.  I also added a bit of sparkle to the centers with a Quickie Glue Pen and Warm Highlight Transparent Micro Fine Glitter (Glitter Ritz).  To finish off the tag I added the sentiment, with Black Stazon, and a variety of ribbons and trims.

Here's a closer view so you can see the details and sparkle a bit better.

That's it for today's project,Mystery-Blogger-Graphic don’t forget, hidden among the Design Team’s blogs today is a Mystery Blogger. Comment on her blog and you could be chosen to win today’s set! The more you comment, the better your chances of winning.

Flourishes January Release Previews ~ Day 2

UnderTheUnderBigTop-GraphicWelcome to Day Two of our January New Releases at Flourishes! We have your ticket to fun in this great set called, Under the Big Top! You’ll find our own company of trained animals, circus elements and a clown to give you a wonderful performance on your next celebration. This silhouette-style set illustrated by Lauren Pope measure 4 x 6 inches and includes 9 whimsical circus images and 3 sentiments for occasions far and wide.

I had so much fun with this set!!  I wanted to do a collage of images so I started by stamping the ticket image 7 times onto some decorative paper from Prima's Songbird collection.  I then cut them out and stuffed them in a kraft Mini bag by Canvas Corp (after adding some embossing to the bottom of it with a Lifestyle embossing folder).  I then stamped the tent with Malted Mauve VersaMagic ink, hand-cut it out, and layered it onto a mini-decorative tag by Fancy Pants.  After that, I added two sentiments from this set...one to the bag, and one to the mini-tag.  Oh, and I can't forget the sweet little stand that I colored with Copics and added it to the corner along with some washi tape.  Lastly I added some Washi Tape and Cork Arrows (Studio Calico), along with a Library clip (SU!) to the corner, and some Enamel Dots (Teresa Collins).    Whew...that's a long list. :)

Here's a close up of the tickets, tent, sentiments, and little stand.

Well, that's it for my project today, Mystery-Blogger-Graphichave fun taking a trip through our Senior Design Team’s Blog to see their creativity with this set, and while you’re enjoying their designs don’t forget to look for our Mystery Blogger hidden among the Design Team’s blogs.

Flourishes January Release Preview ~ Day 1

Hello all and welcome to a very special kick off to Flourishes' January Release! Not only are we ushering the new release in with a fun-filled Timeless Tuesday Challenge but we are showcasing a set designed to honor Flourishes' owner and founder: Flowers for Jan

FlowersForJanGraphic Wisteria, Peonies and Bearded Iris -- all three of these flowers are favorites of Flourishes' founder and owner Jan Marie Caruso. Sentimentally illustrated by Marcella Hawley, these beautiful blooms honor the lady at the helm at Flourishes. Three breathtaking flowers paired with three beautifully scripted words and five accent words. This 4" by 6" set is sure to be one you reach for just to send creations to friends far and wide for any and all occasions!

FTTC253 Get in Shape NEWIMAGE Would you like to win this set along with the other two sets being released this month? All you need to do is play along with us!!! We have a special treat for you today -- two actually! First, in honor of Jan Marie and this very special set, Flourishes' Senior Design Team is joining along in this challenge to give you double the inspiration!  Katie Sims, our lovely challenge hostess this week has got a fabulous challenge for everyone this week...Create a SHAPED card.

I chose to work with the Wisteria image, and a diecut shaped using some Spellbinders dies.  I wanted a somewhat trellis or iron look to the background, so I used a trio of Spellbinders dies and layered them with dimensional tape.  I then stamped the Wisteria image 3 times, colored them with Copics, and fussy cut them.

Here's a closer look at the details.

Here's a look at the inside.

Flourishes Free for all Friday

Happy first Friday in 2014!! We want to extend our best wishes to each of you for the New Year! Since this is the Friday before Flourishes new release, you are probably wondering where our Pre-Release Challenge is? Well, we decided to let the Friends of Flourishes gals run this month's challenge! Be sure to tune in next Tuesday and play along with the Release Week Timeless Tuesday Challenge! We'll have three winners that week for the FULL release! Play along as many times as you want for multiple chances to win!

Now for some fun today, the Flourishes Senior Design Team has a bit of beautiful variety to show off. Some of the team got to play with Becky Fleck’s new round of January Sketches at PageMaps (which she will reveal on Sat.) and others on the team are going to surprise you with some of their own creativity. Join these lovely ladies for some fabulous inspiration to kick-off your New Year!

Free for All Friday with BorderI made two cards using one of Becky's PageMaps sketches.  For the first one, I used Friendship and Flowers.  I stamped the Flower with Versafine onto Flourishes Classic Ivory cardstock, and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder in order to use the Emboss Resist technique.  I then inked over the image with Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey Ranger Distress Inks while still in the Romantique rectangles die.  Lastly I added an embossed die cut heart, the white embossed resisted butterfly (with Tumbled Glass Ranger Distress Ink rubbed over it.), the sentiment and a smattering of rhinestones.

Since it was the beginning of the year, I decided to use the Flourishes set Moments in time for my second card.  I stamped the clock face with Smokey Gray Versafine, and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder while still in the Tile Works die (Spellbinders).  I then added some color inside the frame (after masking off the edges with removable tape) using Tumbled Glass and Brushed Corduroy Ranger Distress Inks.  The sentiment was stamped using Gray Flannel Memento ink.  I then framed it all with Dark Olive card stock from Flourishes' Evergreen Collection and Loyal dp by Authentique.  The base is Flourishes Classic Ivory and is embossed using a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder.

Here's the lovely sketch I got to work with:

That's it for today's cards from me.  Be sure to check out what the rest of these talented gals have to share!!

Thanks so much for dropping by!!
Happy stamping!

A Look back at 2013 ~ Day 1

I've never done a year review of my designs before, but I've enjoyed seeing other designers' reviews so much, that I thought it would be something fun to try this year. I have been blessed to be able to design for 3 different companies this past year (Waltzingmouse Stamps, Flourishes and Our Daily Bread Designs, and guest design for Really Reasonable Ribbon), and had a hard time choosing my favorites. I loved working with each company and their variety of images so much. So, I've broken my posts up into two. This first one will be Jan. thru June.

January

Felt Puffy Heart ~ Compact Family (Waltzingmouse Stamps)

Love is all we need ~ Woodgrain and My Heart (Waltzingmouse Stamps)

February

You're a Star ~ Say it Loud (Waltzingmouse Stamps)

March

April

So Very Kind ~ My Kind of Guy (Waltzingmouse Stamps)

May

June

That's it for the first half of the year.

I want to take this time to thank all of you for your generous support with your warm, encouraging comments too.  I so enjoy stamping, coloring and paper crafting, and the stamp sets I've been blessed to be able to work with are so inspiring!

Happy Stamping!
