I'm just heartsick. In all the years I've worked with my Canon, I've never, ever dropped it. Until now. I had it sitting on my desk, picked it up to go to my photo tent, and the strap hooked on one of the drawer handles. I didn't have a tight enough grip. *sigh* It shattered the UV protection filter as well as denting it, so I can't get it off to see if the lens is okay. It's too late to head to the camera shop, so I have to be patient (so not a strong suit of mine), and go tomorrow instead to see what the extent of damage is.
So, this photo was taken with my little Nikon point and shoot. At least you can see the charming barn scene. I so fell in love with this scene when I first saw it. It's from the JustRite set A Day in the Country that I got from Stamper's Dream. I've always loved old red barns, and have even photographed a few in the midwest. You just don't see many of them in the west.
My son is away at college, and is anxiously awaiting Thanksgiving break to come home for a spell. So I thought I'd send him a card for a bit of encouragement. He misses the farm, and this sentiment is spot on. "A day in the country soothes the soul". Okay, living around thousands of cows can clear the sinuses at times, but there's nothing like being out on the farm.
I colored the image with Copics, and added some sewing, buttons, twine, and a border punch. The side panel was made with the Octagon Nestabilties die by Spellbinders. The dp is Fancy Pants, and the netting is May Arts Ribbon. All the edges were heavily ink distressed with Walnut Stain (Ranger Distress) too.
That about sums it all up!
Thanks for dropping by. Hope you're having a good week.
Happy stamping my friends!!
Tosh
Aww, sorry about your camera. I hope they can fix it back up for you. :(
ReplyDeleteYour card is lovely. We have a "few" red barns here in TN and they ARE beautiful. I think your son will love it.
I am just waiting for the day that I do that as well...it is heartbreaking! I love my camera!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, your card is a great reminder of what your son has to look forward to when he comes home. Colored and designed brilliantly, like always. Have a great day and I hope your camera is fixable!
Oh, so sorry about the camera, hope it is a quick fix. Your son will love this card, it's just beautiful. Living in Ontario Dairyland, I see many barns on my daily travels; and yes, I know all about the sinus-clearing air!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Tosh! Your coloring on the barn is total perfection! Awesome design and details. But then, they are ever present on every creation of yours!
ReplyDeleteI know you're looking forward to Thanksgiving with your son. Hope the camera isn't terminal.
Oh what a dreadful accident with your camera. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the damage was merely superficial and that the repair costs are pallatable. Your carn is glorious and is sure to melt your son's heart. You are a wonderful mother! Cleared sinuses notwithstanding.
ReplyDeleteYikes, Tosha! So sorry to hear about your camera - hopefully, they can fix it up good as new. Your son is going to love this card. I live in the country, and how true this sentiment is! Beautiful card, thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh no, Tosh! I hope your camera is on the mend soon! HUGS!!! Your barn card is absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, Tosh! I love the sweet farm scene! I hope your camera will be fixed soon.. I am heartsick for you!
ReplyDeleteI just love this scene! I'm sure your son will love it too!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your camera, but I gotta say...I've been Canon girl for about 16 years and am on my
6th model (currently an EOS digital slr) and I am so hard on them! I dropped one in the lake, and another fell from the back of car onto the pavement which jammed the lens temporarily-both camera's still work beautifully, with a few scratches! I have found Canon to be a reputable company and they even fixed my digital camcorder for free (including free round trip shipping) after the warranty expired! I hope you get it back to working order soon! Good luck!
now...I am thinking that looks a bit more like an EAST coast farm rather than a BIG western farm....lol.....is there an outhouse behind the barn for those who LOVE such things....oh pooh!!!!....lol
ReplyDeleteFigured I'd entertain ya a bit as my comments always say the same thing...gorgeous, rich, warm and FABULOUS.....cuz they are and I 'says em like I sees dem'
hugs

Love the layout on this Tosh. I'm sure your son will appreciate and Thanksgiving can't come soon enough to get our kids home. Great card.
ReplyDeleteOh and sorry about your camera, hope it's ok but this picture looks fine to me!
ReplyDeleteYour little farm scene is gorgeous, Tosh!!!! Such beautiful coloring, as always, and I love how you used the Octagon Nestie!!! IKWYM about being in the country, however, when the cows bust through the fence (like yesterday) and take the horses and donkeys with them over to the neighbors to graze, I haveta hope for better days...LOL!!!! Sorry about your camera...hope it gets fixed soon!!
ReplyDeleteSo Love this, terrific coloring, great layout and sentiment! My daughter is going to her Fiance's parents home on Thanksgiving break, boy this is going to be tough for me, enjoy your son :)
