Today, I have a challenge throw down card for you. At least, that's what Laurie calls it. Since Laurie, Julee and I spent a couple of days in Missoula, MT last week, Laurie thought it would be a good idea to make a card inspired by something in Missoula. Well, I'm a nature freak, so obviously I'd be drawn to something outdoors. I LOVED the look of this old building by the river. The sign on the side says Missoula, although I'm not sure what this building is for.
eta: (a sweet commenter who lives in Missoula (love this town) has educated me. Here's what she said: "the building in your photo is an old train station, which is now the National headquarters for Boone & Crocket. It is a museum with trophy sized animals taken with a rifle.")
Thanks Wendy!!
I loved the colors, and textures, so this was what I chose to focus on. I was also inspired by a sweet little store we went to called Noteworthy. They had a fabulous variety of letterpress cards on display, and I thought it would be fun to make a card using a letterpress technique. I was also inspired by one more thing, but I'll get to that in a bit.
For the brick wall, I inked up the Brick Tim Holtz Texture fade with Brick Red Versamagic, and ran it through my cuttlebug. I colored the turkey, from the Verve set Bountiful Harvest, with Copics and paper toled him. there are actually three layers to this studly Tom. I added one of the sentiments with a Spellbinders Ribbon Tag Trio, along with some PTI Saddle stitched ribbon and buttons. The dp behind the turkey is from Dream Street Papers, and the bg dp is by Imaginisce. Finally, the border was punched with an EK Success punch.
Now, are you wondering what my third inspiration was yet? Of course, it was the two people I was hanging around. I thought the turkey image was totally appropriate. *grin*
That about sums up my Inspiration Challenge Throw Down. Now head on over to Julee and Laurie's blog to see what caught their eye while in Missoula.
I have one more photo I'd like to share. I really love the textures on the back of this flower, and how the city is in the background.
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a super fantastic weekend!!
Happy Stamping!
Tosh
