Handmade DP and a Bird

Have you ever had it where you want to use decorative paper, but you don't have the color or pattern that will work with the image you want to use? Or, perhaps you don't want to spend the money on dp when you can make it yourself. No matter what the reason, making your own is very easy.

All you need is a sponge, dye ink, and the images of your choice. I used the Inkssentials blending tool and the Inkssentials blending foam to make my bg because I like the way it blends the colors together, and I only used one sponge for the 3 different colors I used. And the images I used are all from Inque Boutique.

Now, I have to tell you. I'm a huge Inque Boutique fan. I probably have 3/4 of their sets. They're gorgeous, they're wonderful to work with, and they're inexpensive. Not only that, but each stamp has the image imprinted on the back, so when you stamp with your clear blocks you can see exactly what it's going to look like. And.......you get a lot for your buck!! They have quite a few on their image sheet and they're all a good size. Even their mini-sets are good sized images. Can ya tell I love them yet? *grin*

I first took some white paper, inked up my sponge with Adirondack Latte and sponged in a circular motion all over half of the paper. You'll have to continue to re-ink your sponge until you get the desired look. I then used Salmon in strategic places over the Latte. After I got the muted shabby look that I wanted, I stamped the lacey pattern from Inque Boutique's, Boutique Grunge set, in Latte, and the dandelion images with stamped off salmon and Lake Mist. The filagreed piece on the left has Lake Mist as the bg color, with the image stamped with Oregano. I then Ink distressed all the edges a bit with Latte. That's it. Easy peasy!!

I stamped the Bird, from Inque's Birdies set, with Black Soot Distress Ink by Ranger and colored it with copics. The Gemstones are by Hero Arts, and the Dew Drops are from the Cowboy Collection. The ribbon is Stampin' Up and Chocolate Velvet by American Craft, and all the ovals were cut with Nestabilities diecuts and my Cuttlebug. The flowers are paper toled too. (two layered)

This card also fits under SCS's Ways To Use it challenge today. Way cool!! The challenge was to use birds!! Got it covered!!
