Irresistible Peonies Just Because ~ Power Poppy

Hello, hello, hello!!!  Boy is summer in full swing here with changes all around.  I haven't posted for awhile because my world has been turned upside down, but it's all for the better.  It just takes some readjusting.  3 weeks ago, we got a new family member named Teddy.  He's an itty bitty 6lb Shih Poo, and he is a little ball of precious energy.  And on July 3, I became a Grandma (Nana) for the first time to a very precious little girl named Adalyn Kate.  And, yes, I'm one of those Nana's....she is PERFECT in every way!!!  My son and daughter-in-law are incredible and we are all so very blessed!!

So, now for what you really came here to see...This card has been in the making for 2 weeks...seriously.  I have started, started over, and started over again.  I think I've truly forgotten how to color.  There are parts of this no-line colored card that I'm over the moon happy with (the leaves...I so struggle with leaves), and some, *sigh*...I wish I could do over.  But y'all know how it is with no-line coloring, it takes extra time, so once I was half way in, I was "ALL THE WAY" in.  So, I know I've added too many lines to many of the Peony petals, but hopefully the person I give it to will be able to overlook the unnaturalness of some of them.  YIKES!!

I used the new Power Poppy digital image called Irresistible Peonies and paired it with the sentiment from another new digital image called Azaleas Forever.  The image is colored with Copics, and masked off while I splattered some Champagne Gold, and Black mixed with Champagne Gold, watered down Acrylic paint.  I like the subtle sparkle.

That's it for me...but people, we have a new Power & Spark Challenge being hosted by our dear, dear Julie, and it's a clever one!!  All you have to do, is make a project that was inspired by one of the techniques used in one of the Inspired Me Monday posts.  How fun is that?!?!?!?!

Well, Tosh, FIRST of all, congratulations, Nana! How very, very exciting to have a wee one in your family. I'm sure Adalyn Kate is just the sweetest and most precious little one, and may God continue to bless you and your family and draw her to Himself. And congratulations on your newest bundle of energy, sweet Teddy! Oh my, your life is upside down now, eh? LOL! Truly, my friend, your card is exquisite! As you know, we are our own worst critics...far too hard on ourselves...but, I get that. Ha! My first impression of your card was that it looks like a piece of art in a botanical garden book. The background is amazing, and your coloring is out of this world fabulous. So real flowers have a lot of folds and lines in them. You just haven't seen them...but we are seeing them now! I LOVE it, and you should be proud of it. It's stunning...and I'm still smiling at all the happy news you have for us, Nana! Hugs and love...and enjoy that sweet little Adalyn Kate! xoxo

Congratulations on the new family members!!! This card is gorgeous!! I think your no line coloring came out so lovely. I have tried but for the life of me, am too inpatient to master this!!!

Tosha, I saw your comment about too many lines on your peonies, and I LOVED those lines, I thought it made those peonies extra-special!!! If I could create those lines, man, I'd be using them!!! Is that a kind of flicking motion that you use? I find that I am terrible at Copics and other alcohol markers and I have a bunch, frustrating but I know I need to spend a lot more time and take a few courses along the way.

These flowers are WONDERFUL! All the time and your effort to me are very worth it all when you can create such beauty as this, WOW!!! SO beautiful!!! I hope and pray someday I'll be able to color even a bit as well as you can color! And I love that no-line look! I think I'll start with watercolors and an embossed white image!!!

Blessings,

Joanne (905lovestostamp)
