Follow Your Heart with Power Poppy

Woo-Hoo!!  The weekend is here!!  Now, I don't know why I'm so excited.  I don't have anything big planned.  I guess it's just the idea that tomorrow is Saturday.

And since it is Friday, I have a fabulous new Digital image to share with y'all called Follow Your Heart!!  Marcella has designed THE MOST GORGEOUS heart shaped bouquet of roses!!  (The new image was showcased it earlier this week...check out the Power Poppy Blog for all the links)  Seriously...isn't this image just divine?  And how fun to color.  I colored my bouquet with Copics, cut it out, and burnished it.  I first traced the individual roses with a stylus (with the image laying on a sturdy foam mat), and then I turned it over, and with a larger stylus roller, I burnished the back in between the tracings.  Make sense?  It really is a challenge to see in a photograph, but irl it has some depth and texture.

I also embossed the background panel with an embossing folder to give it texture to tie it in with the heart.  Below is a close up look.

I made a frame using 6x6 Matting Basics A (Spellbinders), and used a gold Krylon pen to frame the inside.  I framed the heart using a small die from the Opulent Ovals die set from Spellbinders also, and again added a gold frame with my Krylon pen.

Now, I was a bit frustrated...you know how you work hard to color an image, get it just the way you want it, and decide to add that little extra oompf, only to ruin it?  Yep...that's exactly what I did!!  Arrrrggghhhhh!!!  My Wink of Stella pen totally threw up onto one of my roses.  I was crushed.  I tried to thin it out, but to no avail.  The damage was done.  So, while all the roses but one have just a hint of sparkle, one of them is inundated with it.  *sigh*  Oh well...guess it wanted to stand out and be an individual.

Copics:  Hot Pink Roses: RV69, RV19, RV14, RV13, RV10 Light Pink Roses:  RV34, RV32, RV10 Arrow:  T8, T6, T4, T0

Everything's Rosy with Power Poppy

Helllloooo!!!  I'm back to share another Power Poppy card with y'all!!  On Tuesday, Power Poppy released a new digital set called Everything's Rosy, and it's exquisite!  Marcella has such a beautifully unique way of displaying flowers!  I love the sweet little mug and tea cup, and the roses....well they are a dream to color.  To me, this image could be modern, or vintage, so I went with vintage this time around.  I colored everything with Copics, and embellished it with anything I could find to give it a vintage feel.  I printed the sentiment onto a piece of Vellum cardstock and sewed all the panels together.

I also made this card a tall card for this month's Power and Spark challenge to Stretch yourself.  The image is new to me, as well as the die and button/lace trim.  I hope you'll take a moment to join in on the challenge if you haven't already!!

Smitten with Power Poppy

Hello friends!  Could it really be Friday already?  Wow!  And we're already half way through January.  Well, since it is Friday, I have a Power Poppy card to share with you.  I decided to make a masculine Valentine this week and I thought the Good Thinking: Love Notes set would be perfect.  I used warm colors, and a masculine themed embossed background.  I had to include a heart too, since it is a Valentine, and I thought the "smitten" sentiment was just the cutest.

Stretch Yourself with a Power Poppy Power and Spark Challenge!!

Hello everyone!!  Today I'm sharing my first project of the New Year, and it's for the Power and Spark Challenge over on the Power Poppy Blog.  I have the honor of hosting it this month, and I inadvertently pushed myself right out of my box.

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/
First of all, let me tell you about the challenge.  The New Year is a time to start fresh, and often we challenge ourselves with resolutions.  Those can be tall orders for some of us depending on the goals we set.  So, for today's Power and Spark Challenge, I'd like you to Stretch yourself and create a "Tall" card, while using something "new-to-you" on it.  It could be a technique, a stamp, some paper, or dies...whatever you can come up with.

Awhile back I found a watercolor video tutorial by Jennifer McGuire using the Gansai Tambi Watercolor set.  Now, I've never colored with watercolors before,  (I've used Tombow markers, but never actual watercolors.) and Jennifer explains her technique so well.  These watercolors are pure creamy goodness and so easy to work with, especially the way Jennifer explains it.

I started by stamping Power Poppy's Potted Primroses, with Versamark, onto Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock like Jennifer suggests.   I then heat embossed them with Super Fine Detail Black Embossing Powder (Ranger).  After watercoloring them, I fussy-cut them out and diecut them using the Stitched Rounded Rectangle (Die-Namics) so they would fit perfectly on another piece of watercolor paper that I diecut with the same die.  I also colored a couple of "lone" primroses and adhered them along with some vellum cut Feathers (Spellbinders).

I thought the sentiments from the Good Thinking Renewal (Power Poppy) set fit perfectly for the start of a New Year, so I added one to the top, and one to a tag.  I also added some flags using the Stitched Fishtail Flag die (Die-Namics), and a cut-out panel using Stitched Basic Edges (Die-Namics).  Everything listed, as well as the paper (Wish Seasons by Fancy Pants) is new to me, and was fun to put all together.

That's it for my project.  For some more inspiration, check out my fellow Bloom Brigaders.  These gals have some serious skilz!!!
Thank you so very much for stopping by!  I hope you'll find time to play along with our Power and Spark Challenge this month.

Happy Stamping!

What a great prize pack. Those Chameleon markers have intrigued me since I first set eyes on them. I am thankful that my daughter was able to visit with her grandpa the evening before he suddenly passed away.
